Typo Corrections[edit]
Hey there! I have a quick question for you. When you correct typos, for instance here or here (-raht to -Raht), do you follow in-game spelling? I'm asking because all the names and descriptions were mined from the game data and unless they were corrected in one of the updates, we use {{sic}} to preserve game spelling. ~Shuryard (talk) 15:35, 8 July 2015 (UTC)
- The "Full" was capital in game, the "Raht" was capital also (I think). Will confirm the second one if I manage to... acquire it again in game. Contraptions (talk) 15:47, 8 July 2015 (UTC)

Joining forces?[edit]
Hey Contraptions!
I see you've been working on adding skills and abilities to ESO enemies. I started a similar project, more focused on the different classes of humanoid NPCs, but haven't made much progress. If there's anything you need from what I've found out so far (mostly official class and ability names from the patch notes and death recaps), you can take a look at my ESONCPClasses sandbox. Also, feel free to aks if you need any other kind of help. Keep on the good work! -- SarthesArai Talk 13:53, 3 January 2016 (UTC)
- Hey, I took a look at your page and it's very helpful , especially for skills that don't do damage. My addon allows me to see the names of all damage dealing abilities, so that's not an issue. If your class and skill abilities are the official ones I can cross reference and edit my sandbox accordingly. Thanks for the tip! Contraptions (talk) 14:46, 3 January 2016 (UTC)
-
- Everything that's credited with a source is either from the patch notes or from the Death Recap screen. There are some things I just have guessed. Those are the things marked with "[verification needed]", as well as the "Other Suffixes" column. -- SarthesArai Talk 15:21, 3 January 2016 (UTC)

-
- Hey there! Just wondering what add-on you're using that gives you enemy ability names. I thought first perhaps you were dying over and over to these enemies so that you got the ability details in Death Recap :) . I assume these abilities have the same names in Death Recap? Does that add-on also show the ability icons (like you see in Death Recap)? Thanks! --Enodoc (talk) 11:24, 5 January 2016 (UTC)

- What Jeancey said. FTC displays the names of damage abilities as well as the icons, and they match the ones you see in Death Recap. The only abilities I can't officially confirm are the ones that don't do damage, like NPC healing abilities, summoning abilities, teleporting etc. I also didn't mention the various miscellaneous effects associated with abilities like Burning, Chill, Concussion, Bleeding, Poisoned etc. Contraptions (talk) 15:15, 5 January 2016 (UTC)
-
-
-
(←) I don't use FTC any more, but I recall it also displayed healing done to you by your abilities. Would it also display the names of heals and other beneficial abilities cast by NPC followers? That would be a way to get the official names of those (I know that during Razor's Edge, the story quest of City of Ash, you can choose a follower that is a healer). As for abilities that don't get displayed, if they are not named in ZOS' patch notes, we'd have to stick to generic names and {{vn}}-tags for now. -- SarthesArai Talk 17:11, 5 January 2016 (UTC)
- I believe healing done by NPCs on you does show up on FTC. It's also how I got the "Focused Healing" skill in my sandbox. When you escape the Wailing Prison, at the end during the fight with the bone colossus, the Prophet heals you up when you get hurt, and it shows up as Focused Healing iirc. Unfortunately, I can't think of any other "beneficial abilties" at the moment. Like you said, for the unconfirmed ones I just think of an appropriate name and descriptor then slap vn on it. Contraptions (talk) 19:13, 5 January 2016 (UTC)
- There might be a way to change FTC to display all spells cast, not just those cast on you. It would result in significantly more data to go through, and duplicate logs in all likelihood, but it could be doable. I could reach out to Atropos and see if he has any thought on the matter (Atropos is the owner of tamriel foundry). Jeancey (talk) 19:33, 5 January 2016 (UTC)
-
-
- I'm not too sure that will work. I remember before live release ZOS severely restricted the API to prevent addons from pulling too much combat info from enemies (I assume this is because of PVP) and I'm not sure if that's changed. Even the ability names were only recently allowed; just a few patches ago FTC displayed incoming damage as just plain numbers. Contraptions (talk) 19:59, 5 January 2016 (UTC)
- I'm not caught up on all the API changes, but do players and NPCs display differently in FTC? It's possible that only NPCs will display the abilities used, while other players just display the damage taken... If I was worried about balance in PVP, that's how I would do it. Crafting Writs Special Case[edit]
Hi there! You seem to be well versed in the Crafting Writs, so I was wondering if you have any insights to this specific combination: Say you own Orsinium, have Rank 10 in Metalworking/Woodworking/Tailoring, but are below Level 50. Do you get given the Orsinium writ, which you fully qualify for, or the Rank 5/6 writ (depending on whether you have unlocked Coldharbour) because you haven't met the criteria for the Rank 7-9 writs in Craglorn? Thanks! --Enodoc (talk) 19:36, 8 January 2016 (UTC)
- I'm guessing that since Orsinium isn't level restricted, they would send you to Orsinium instead. Haven't tested this out yet though. Contraptions (talk) 07:42, 9 January 2016 (UTC)
-
- I am not sure if it is directly related to your discussion, but I made an observation once on an alchemy writ. I am V16 and own Orsinium. When I had made the required potion and found the required reagent my journal told me to go to Belkarth. The quest marker however pointed to Orsinium, where I was rewarded for delivering it. I have only observed it once. —MortenOSlash (talk) 08:17, 9 January 2016 (UTC)

Husk Stalker[edit]
Do you know what Plague Stalkers are then? I suppose they might be related to these guys if they aren't Husks. —Legoless (talk) 13:56, 17 January 2016 (UTC)
- Plague Stalkers are also Llodos Plague victims, and can also be found at the Quarantine Serk. The reason I decided not to place them as variants of the Plague Husk is because they use separate bloodfiend-based animations and attacks, as opposed to the zombie-based Plague Husk. I felt the difference in combat was significant enough that they wouldn't be variants of each other. Contraptions (talk) 14:58, 17 January 2016 (UTC)

Variable Gender NPCs[edit]
Hey Contraptions! Good job you're doing with all that creature and NPC information! However, in light of some recent edits, I don't think we need separate infoboxes for NPCs with different gender, a simple |gender=Varies
should suffice. We've done the same for the earlyer games (for an example Skyrim:Krev the Skinner). If you are of a different opinion, let me know. We maybe should take it to the Community Portal then. -- SarthesArai Talk 16:06, 17 January 2016 (UTC)
- Thanks! I'm not aware of any consensus regarding generic NPCs in ESO and their info, and I was just trying to follow some older pages like Elden Root Guard when making my edits. If there's some proper format to follow I will be glad to do so.
- On a side note, since I may be doing those pages soon, is it ok to put multiple infoboxes on the same page if the NPC has the same name but is different? Like a race change (eg. ON:High Kinlord Rilis who is an Altmer but turns into a Dremora), or a type change (eg. ON:Allene Pellingare who is a Breton NPC that comes back as a Draugr creature), or even both (eg. ON:Aelif who is a Khajiit that turns into a Titan)? Thanks for the advice. Contraptions (talk) 17:02, 17 January 2016 (UTC)
-
- There was a lengthy discussion at Online talk:People that touched the subject a bit, but didn't reach a clear consensus on that matter (as far as I've read at a first glaze). Still, I think one infobox is enough, because there are no real gameplay changes because of the gender, it's just the looks.
- As for these different NPCs, I'd suggest creating a page for each, such as Online:Aelif (Khajiit) and Online:Aelif (Titan), because they are technically different NPCs (or maybe we should let the Khajiiti Aelif stay at Online:Aelif and just put her titan form to a seperate page for spoiler reasons). While one page could work for Aelif, Allene Pellingare would have a more cluttered page, which is especially of a disadvantage if one was in a fight with vet Allene and would have to sort out the relevant info from that from normal Allene. Investigator Garron, as a character returning with a different name, has two pages as well. At least, that's my opinion on that matter ;-) -- SarthesArai Talk 17:43, 17 January 2016 (UTC)

-
- I'd recommend adding two summary tables for those transforming characters (although for the record we're treating draugr as NPCs now). See ON:Sacrificial Summon for an example of two identically-named creatures sharing a page. It's probably less important to have separate tables for generic NPCs when the race and gender is the only difference between them, and any images of the different variants can just be added to a gallery if this leads to a shortage of space on the page. The problem with the "Aelif (Khajiit) -> Aelif (Titan)" approach would be duplication of info, as well as a rather pointless "final transformation" page for the creature. See ON:Corintthac the Abomination for an example of a merged Breton/Lurcher page (although it lacks images and has no infobox for the lurcher). The only exception to this would be when the NPC is renamed mid-fight like ON:The Exalted Viper, but even then it might be better to just redirect to the main article in some cases. —Legoless (talk) 20:47, 17 January 2016 (UTC)
-
(←) Ok, so what I gather so far is:
For generic NPCs,
- If the name/gender/race/type varies and it doesn't really affect gameplay we should just put one infobox at the top, put "varies" under gender/race and list the variants separately under the gallery. (eg. most generic NPCs)
- If the name/gender/race/type varies and it does affect gameplay we should include separate infoboxes or even separate pages. (eg. transforming NPCs)
Few more parameters to consider: what about generic NPCs that have the same name and gameplay but different level/health/location? eg. ON:Renrijra Deckhand that appears in Silent Mire and Sunscale Strand?
For named NPCs,
- If the level/health/location/gender/race/type varies and it doesn't really affect gameplay we should just put one infobox at the top, put "varies" under the relevant field and place the variants under the gallery. (eg. quest NPCs like Razum-dar who appear in most zones, or vet versions of normal level enemies eg. Balreth)
- If the level/health/location/gender/race/type varies and it does affect gameplay we should include separate infoboxes or even separate pages. (transforming NPCs eg. Allene Pellingare, Prince Naemon)
- If the name changes, it needs its own page.
Is this accurate? Perhaps like SarthesArai said we should let the community decide. This is pretty hard to determine properly and could affect many pages. Contraptions (talk) 02:00, 18 January 2016 (UTC)
- I think a CP discussion is the way to go here. There's a lot of different things to consider, as well as a load of previous discussions that also need to be taken into account. Revamp set pages[edit]
Just saw you added this to your project list. What's your plan? Let me know if you need any assistance with coding or templates, if such things are likely to be involved. --Enodoc (talk) 09:50, 10 February 2016 (UTC)
- Nothing too complicated for now. Just trying to update some of the older sets, some format changes on the pages, listing set items, making new pages if needed. It's not very technically demanding stuff, just tedious. Thanks for the offer though. Contraptions (talk) 01:20, 11 February 2016 (UTC)
-
- OK cool. The offer stands if you ever need any assistance! On a side note, the {{Online Update}} template is designed to stay forever on Set pages, so that it always prompts re-checking of all sets after an update has taken place, and indicates how up-to-date the info is for anyone viewing it. The background for this can be seen in the Various and Varied ESO Suggestions on CP. --Enodoc (talk) 09:30, 11 February 2016 (UTC)

Akaviri Motif[edit]
I added some sic tags to Online:Crafting Motif 18: Akaviri Style. Do you happen to have a screenshot of the book in-game, in case they're just transcription errors? Thanks! —Legoless (talk) 19:37, 23 June 2016 (UTC)
- I have checked the spelling with the latest language file, corrected the errors and removed the sic tags - the errors weren't actually present in the text. --Vordur Steel-Hammer (TINV1K) 23:09, 23 June 2016 (UTC)

Prod vs Speedy deletion[edit]
Hey! I just wanted to let you know about our Deletion Policy. Specifically the section on Speedy Deletion. Prod's are usually for deletions that may be controversial (or may not) or that may need some discussion or review before deletion. In this case, Redirects from Page Moves for misspelled pages (most redirects from page moves, actually) falls under General Criteria 6: Redirects should be speedily deleted if they are orphaned and the page would not otherwise be useful to keep (e.g., for easier searches). :) Just letting you know for the future! Keep up the good work! Jeancey (talk) 14:04, 29 June 2016 (UTC)
- Ok noted, thanks! :) Contraptions (talk) 14:20, 29 June 2016 (UTC)
WGT Bosses[edit]
Hey Contraptions, I'm not quite sure I understand the numbers on ON:White-Gold Tower. The infobox currently lists 4 bosses and 2 minibosses. This correlates to the 4 achievement-related bosses (Elite Guard, Adjudicator, Planar Inhibitor, Molag Kena) and the two other unique enemies (Iron-Swathed Glutton and Scion of Wroth). However, the list on the pages groups the two minibosses in with the Crematorial Guard elites, and this recent edit has classified the Elite Guard as a miniboss fight.
Should the infobox numbers be changed to 3 and 1? I really think it ought to be 3 and 3 at least (which happens to be identical to ICP), since I don't think the Glutton and Scion enemies are simply 'elites'; by comparison, the Crematorial Guard daedroths are just generic elite mobs and fit the classification much more closely. Personally I think the originaly 4 and 2 made the most sense, considering the Elite Guard is (I believe) part of the achievement list and therefore should be classified as a boss per what we've been doing on ON:Group Dungeons, but maybe I'm missing something? —Legoless (talk) 22:25, 21 July 2016 (UTC)
- I'm not sure how this relates to the current state of affairs in dungeons, but originally, the 'bosses' were the ones with three pips and corresponded to the bosses in the Vanquisher achievement, and the ones which are required for completion of the pledge (bronze objectives in Normal, Silver objectives in Veteran). The 'mini-bosses' were the ones with two pips , and corresponded to the bosses required for the time-trial achievement in Veteran that aren't otherwise covered by Vanquisher (or in Normal, the bosses required for Silver). But as I say, I'm not sure how that translates to the DLC dungeons. --Enodoc (talk) 22:50, 21 July 2016 (UTC)
-
- Sorry, I forgot to fix the numbers in the infobox, it should be 3 bosses and 1 miniboss. I feel The Adjudicator, Planar Inhibitor and Molag Kena are all bosses since they have three pips, are required for the pledges, and each has a unique purple drop associated with it (like every other vet dungeon boss). The Elite Guard I feel is a miniboss since they each have 2 pips, aren't needed for pledges, and their unique drop is blue (like every other vet dungeon miniboss). I don't consider the Glutton and Scion as bosses or minibosses, and instead consider them as elite named enemies just like the Crem Guards, since they have one pip each and don't drop loot typical of bosses or minibosses (such as guaranteed filled soul gems, potions and Daedric Embers).
-
- I don't think we should follow the achievement list exactly, if not we would have to list the Overfiend and Warden's Council in ICP as bosses as well, when in terms of gameplay they simply aren't considered bosses as I have outlined above. Hope that explains it. Contraptions (talk) 23:52, 21 July 2016 (UTC)
Patroller[edit]
Hey Contraptions, I'm doing a run of users who are qualified to become patrollers, and you are definitely one of them. You can find details about patrollers here, such as the requirement for 250 content edits (of which you have surpassed the requirement by almost ten-fold in the ESO namespace alone). You obviously do not have to become one if you are not interested, but it's always nice to have new team members. If you don't want to jump in right away, consider trying out the nearly instantaneous Userpatroller. Feel free to ask if you have any questions, as well. --AKB Talk Cont Mail 19:15, 4 August 2016 (UTC)

- If you want to do Userpatroller, just follow that link, and add your name to the list of applicants section. If you want to try at patroller, you have to go through nomination. This process can either be started by you, or you can have someone nominate you (with you accepting the nomination). --AKB Talk Cont Mail 23:37, 5 August 2016 (UTC)

Set pages[edit]
Hey! Before I can delete the pages for Dropped Sets, Reward Sets and Purchasable Sets, could you go through and update the links on the pages of the actual sets to point to the new pages? Thanks! Jeancey (talk) 19:38, 12 September 2016 (UTC)
- I'm going through the links, but there's a bit of an issue I'm facing. It keeps telling me certain pages link to Dropped Sets (like Eyes of Mara) but I've looked through the code for that page and I can't find a single link from Eyes of Mara to that page. Weird. I'll try to get the rest done soon though. Contraptions (talk) 15:38, 13 September 2016 (UTC)
- I think that's just a caching issue from the template. I fixed the Sets template to point to the correct pages (pretty sure I got them all at least). Is there another template on those pages that might link there? Jeancey (talk) 15:50, 13 September 2016 (UTC)

Robes of the Necromancer[edit]
Can you update the links to Robes of the Necromancer please? I'd do it myself, but there's nothing linking the old page to whatever its new name is, so I don't know what to update the links to. Thanks! – Robin Hood (talk) 20:12, 27 September 2016 (UTC)
- Actually, while we're on the topic, Lord's Mail needs attention as well, since the books will presumably have been updated. – Robin Hood (talk) 20:47, 27 September 2016 (UTC)
-
- I fixed the Robes of the Necromancer links, but the Lord's Mail pages are transcluded from lore pages, and thus to remove the link I would need to remove the link from the main lore book page. If that's fine I'll go ahead and do that. Contraptions (talk) 05:31, 28 September 2016 (UTC)

- Since it only exists in ESO, it's fine to change it, just as long as we're following whatever changes have been made in the book itself. I don't have ESO, so someone who does would need to check whether the book has been changed, and if so, mirror those changes on the page. – Robin Hood (talk) 19:21, 28 September 2016 (UTC)
