- Only characters with unique names are included here.
- The Elder race is not strictly a race in terms of lore, but is considered a different race by the game. Likely, the majority of these can be considered to be Nords, but this is speculative and cannot always be confirmed.
- People that appear only during certain quests were not counted.
- People were counted for the place they first appear in game (unless it is during Unbound).
- Either Hadvar or Ralof will appear in Riverwood, depending on your choice during Unbound. As they both are Nords they were counted as one person for this data.
- People in dungeons were not counted.
- Random encounters were not counted.
- As Khajiit caravans travel between two cities in different holds, they were counted only for "Total" in the "By Hold" section.
- Aringoth was counted as Altmer though he is referred to as a Wood Elf in Loud and Clear, and version 1.2.3 of the Unofficial Skyrim Patch changes his race to Bosmer.
- People in areas added by Dawnguard were not counted.
- Bards and carriage drivers that can be hired for your Hearthfire house were not counted.
- All Dark Brotherhood members including Cicero were counted for Falkreath.
- Crew of Northern Maiden was not counted as they appear in both Skyrim and Solstheim.
