Quest-Related Events[edit]

Captain Genevé Delitian had a recent run of bad luck, her parents were killed by the Worm Cult, the family business was in trouble, and a storm wrecked her ship, losing precious cargo in the process. You can find these rare goods around Solstice and bring them back to her. After you have recover all the items, she will have a scheduled meeting in Sunport with the client and asks you accompany her as she has concerns about the client.

When you arrive in Sunport, you find Captain Genevé is already speaking with the client—Xziamut:

Captain Genevé Delitian: "This must be a trick. My family would never do business with a Daedra!"
Xziamut: "You mean you didn't figure that much out? I expected more."
Xziamut: "Still you brought the goods. You could be useful. Let's make a deal."
Captain Genevé Delitian: "Not so fast. I need to consult my friend first."

You have the option of talking to Xziamut to find out what he wants from the deal:

"And who might you be? A sellsword chasing coin? An adventurer swept into mysteries beyond their comprehension?
My focus isn't on you or your interests. I'm here to test the young Delitian and see if she's worth my time."
What do you want with Genevé?
"To see if she is useful.
Her ancestors and I had agreements. I provided mentorship in the art of making deals and guided them along the path to prosperity. Her parents were really quite clever by the end of things. Shame what happened to them."
What did you get out the agreement?
"Nothing gets past you.
A devoted pupil to absorb my eons of knowledge. Someone with a pretty, hornless, face to enact my cunning plots in the mortal world. Oh, and their pledge of loyalty to me and my Prince for a few decades. Standard fare."
Is this always how the agreement goes?
"A few of the more cunning Delitians renegotiated to lower their years of indenture. Why? Do you think this one has an outstanding eye for commerce? From what I saw, she relies on luck.
I think she will be indebted for a long time."
I'll speak to Genevé.
[Persuade] Negotiating with the desperate is hardly an exciting deal.
"The mortal has an opinion. And it's an interesting one!
I could argue that all the Delitians were desperate, but I concede your point. Genevé is in a dire situation. Very well. She's welcome to attempt to renegotiate. Impress me with her acumen."
I'll speak to Genevé.
"I cannot wait to hear what you and Genevé decide. I hope she takes my deal, but the waiting may be my favorite part of the process. Not knowing the outcome? Delicious."

You can then speak with Captain Genevé about the deal, and she will ask you to help decide what to do. You can tell her to accept the deal, reject the deal or renegotiate the terms. After you help her decide, you can leave the conversation before completing the quest and talk to Xziamut who will have been listening in on the conversation:

Captain Genevé Delitian Negotiates:
Captain Genevé Delitian Refuses:
"I heard you advised Genevé to take my deal. If she was clever enough to figure out the test, she may show promise as a student. I look forward to seeing the fruits of our agreement. After all, she has much to lose. I expect great things."[verification needed — see talk page]
"So, you think the young Delitian has some natural talent. I cannot wait to see what she says.
What? I am being sincere. It's not often a mortal surprises me."
"You advised against my deal? Is freedom so precious that you'd sacrifice all I worked for with the Delitians?
I suppose if she didn't have the option to decline, it wouldn't be worth making the deal in the first place. But it is disappointing."

After you have spoken with Captain Genevé and completed the quest, you can watch her approach Xziamut with her response to his offer:

Captain Genevé will approach Xziamut with a counteroffer:

Captain Genevé Delitian: "Join my crew and mentor me as you did my ancestors. In return, you'll earn double wages."
Xziamut: "What do I care for wages? If you want to treat with me, make it worth my time."
Captain Genevé Delitian: "I'll use my contacts to seek out those receptive to your Prince's whims. Your influence will grow beyond me and my ship."
Xziamut: "Well done! Consider that your first lesson. Always know what others really want."

You can talk to him again before you leave:

"Her tactics are amateurish, but I can see a grain of greatness in Genevé.
Teaching on a merchant vessel will be a new experience for me. If she was clever, she would have bargained for that too. But I got it free of charge!"
