Captain Genevé Delitian is a Breton ship captain who can be found drinking outside the Whale Splash Inn in Shor's Stand. Captain Genevé has been beset by a series of unfortunate events, the most recent being the loss of her ship and cargo.

During your time on Solstice, you can come across the lost goods and return them to her.

Dialogue[edit]

If you first approach her without have found any of her missing cargo previously, she will regale you with stories about her misfortune:

"Leave me to my drink and this silence. Between the Worm Cult killing everyone I hold dear and the early storms out to sea, I am not having the greatest season."
Sounds like you have a lot of troubles.
"Where do I start? The Worm Cult killed my parents. A storm wrecked my ship. And without the goods we carried, I can't please the powerful client who promised to save my murdered family's business.
I can't even organize a bloody search party!"
Why do you need a search party?
"Well, I tossed our cargo overboard in an attempt to save the ship. I'm sure it washed ashore, but no one will scour the beaches.
Don't go looking for easy treasure. It's worthless without my client. No one else understands its value."
I could find this cargo for you.
"I'm sure you could, but I'm not interested in making any deals up front. Not with how my luck is going.
If you find something—and if it's what I'm missing—then I'll reward you. That's as much as I can promise you."

After you have brought back one valuable good, you will be able to ask her for more details about her situation:

Tell me more about this contract.
"A mysterious client contacted me just as I was about to tell the crew to find other work. They asked for rare items. Difficult to obtain, but well worth the hefty price I was offered."
What went wrong? The storm?
"Didn't take you too long to figure it out.
We nearly made it. I tasted hope. Maybe this time, I could prove to my parents' spirits that I wouldn't destroy everything they worked for. But that storm churned us up and spit us on the shore."
Did you toss the other goods overboard too?
"Father always said that the right decision can still find a way to bite you in the arse. I chose to save my crew. I don't regret it.
If you find any more cargo on the beach, you know where I am. Otherwise, I'll figure it out. I have to."
What happened to your family?
"My parents took a risk and moved our business to Sunport when I was still young. It paid off even though the waters around this island are rougher than most.
Their luck ran out when they sailed off with a shipment and never returned."
Did you find out what really happened to them?
"The blasted Worm Cult stormed their ship when it weighed anchor. Those necromancers slaughtered the whole crew on the beach.
This business has been in my family for generations. If I don't make this client happy, I'll lose it too."

Additionally, her dialogue with you after completing a quest will depend on the order you find items:

First Item Found
Volcanic Pearls
Sload Slime:
Snow Truffles:
"That dirt is more valuable than my life. I don't mean that in some vague sense. These pearls may be just the thing that keeps me from ruin. With this, I might be able to save the contract. Save what remains of my family."
"This Sload slime, disgusting though it may be, is rare and therefore valuable. The thought of losing it almost made me give up completely. Now there's hope to salvage this contract. I might be able to weasel my way out of this trouble." [verification needed — see talk page]
"Pay no mind to that doom and suffering nonsense at the end of my note. Let's just say that was intentionally misleading.
As soon as I figure out how to save this contract, then no one will know how badly I ruined my family name."
[verification needed — see talk page]
Items Found after second quest
Volcanic Pearls + Sload Slime
Volcanic Pearls + Snow Truffles:
Sload Slime + Snow Truffles:
"All I'm missing is a box of snow truffles and then maybe I have a chance to keep this client happy. I might be able to save what little remains of my family.
I should send a letter to my client. See if they can wait a little longer before we meet."
[verification needed — see talk page]
"You found the mushrooms and pearls. Now all that's missing from my client's list is that odious Sload slime.
Maybe I should come to some sort of agreement with the client and salvage this contract. Do my family's spirits proud."
"So I have the truffles and slime. That leaves one item missing. I'm not going to send you on some wild chase, but you know where to find me if anything washes ashore.
I'm going to contact my client. Save the contract and what's left of my family."

Quest-Related Events[edit]

The Roughest Pearl[edit]

Along the southern edge of Solstice, you will find some Volcanic Pearls washed up on the shore, along with a note asking you to bring the pearls to Captain Genevé. Head over to Shor's Stand and locate her:

"Whatever friendly instinct drove you this way, know that I am not open to a parley. I'm too far into my purse and my cups for that.
If only this rotten luck would turn!"
I found these volcanic pearls next to your note.
"And there's my luck righted! You have no idea how hard it was to secure volcanic pearls directly from Ash Mountain.
Thank you. I apologize for my terse attitude before. I hope this is enough to show you my appreciation."

Slime Pickings[edit]

On the coast northeast of the Tide-Born Foundry, you can find a jar of Sload Slime and a torn letter asking you to bring the slime to the captain in Shor's Stand. She will smell you coming:

"Gods, you smell as terrible as I feel. I haven't smelled something so foul since the tempest.
Hang on, are you carrying a jar of Sload slime?"
[verification needed — see talk page]
I found your note on this jar.[verification needed — see talk page]
"Never thought I'd be so happy to smell such an awful stench. I thought the storm took it for certain. But the sight of it lifts my spirits more than this full tankard!
You did me a better turn than you know. Take this for your troubles."
[verification needed — see talk page]

Wealth from the Sea[edit]

Following the coast north from Sunport, you can come across of a crate of Dried Snow Truffles and a letter asking you to bring the cargo to Captain Gen evé. Once you are in Shor's Stand, you can hand it over:

"That smell …. Is that dried snow truffle? Where did you get snow truffles on this island?
Unless my crates made it ashore?"
I found your note near this crate.
"Ha! There might be some hope for this thrice accursed endeavor.
I'll give you a reward if you give me the truffles. Trust me, it's a better deal than what you can scavenge up without a buyer. A fair transaction for your good deed."

Striking the Deal[edit]

Once you have brought her all three items, Captain Genevé Delitian will give you an update about the client and ask you to meet with her at Sunport:

"I sent word to the client who paid for this cargo. They're willing to travel to Sunport.
My crew is in no shape to make the journey and I'm in need of a bodyguard. Whoever this client is, I don't want to meet them alone."
Why are you so suspicious of the client.
"Any client willing to pay for goods is a client willing to take them for nothing. That's one of the few rules my parents taught that I took to heart.
This client is especially strange."
What makes you say that?
"My family's dealt with this client for generations. Far longer than Elves live. Pieces to this puzzle don't align, but I'm too desperate not to try.
Can I hire you to come to the meeting? You'll get your coin if we both make it out of there."
I'll meet this client with you in Sunport.
"Let me finish my drink and then I can meet you near the cathedral in Sunport. Hopefully nothing terrible happens, but between the storm and headache of recovering all these goods, I don't trust my luck."

Before you leave, you can ask what she knows about the client:

Tell me what you know about this client.
"From the records, they're phenomenally wealthy. They only purchase the rarest goods, found in the most dangerous places. But they pay handsomely for it.
Still, my parents never talked about them."
Did your parents talked about their other clients?
"The important ones, yes. They spent many years trying to get me to remember that the Duke of Evermore needed be negotiated down to standard quality wool, but Lady Earnerama could be sold on special materials.
Nothing about this mysterious client."
If this client has been with your family for so many years, why don't you trust them?
"Do you ever get that heavy feeling in your stomach, like something's rotten? I've had that ever since this contract promised to save my family's business.
The timing is too perfect. It doesn't sit right with me."

You can then head to Sunport and meet with Captain Genevé in the street to the west of the Cathedral of the Three Queens, where you will find her already talking to the client:

Captain Genevé Delitian: "This must be a trick. My family would never do business with a Daedra!"
Xziamut: "You mean you didn't figure that much out? I expected more."
Xziamut: "Still you brought the goods. You could be useful. Let's make a deal."
Captain Genevé Delitian: "Not so fast. I need to consult my friend first."

The client is Xziamut, a Skaafin. You have the option of speaking with him first and finding out what exactly he wants from the deal. You can then talk to Captain Genevé and see what she wants to do:

"Useful? What did he mean by that? I already acquired and transported the goods he paid for.
Our contract is fulfilled. Now he's offering another deal—everything I need to know to succeed in my family business."
What are you thinking?
"I was blinded by my need to save what's left of my parents' work. Why would I question this contract from an old client?
It was a test. He wanted to see how resourceful I am. And now that he knows, he wants to deal."
Do you know what he wants in exchange for his help?
"I can guess. My parents warned me about Skaafins with offers of tutelage. Now I see they meant their own mysterious client!
He says he's done business with my family for generations. But it might be wiser to chart my own course."
So what are you going to do?
"I don't know. This Skaafin's knowledge can save my business, but I'll be tied to him. Rejecting the deal sacrifices everything my family worked for, but I'd be free to change my life. Pursue other things.
What would you do?"
Accept his deal and save what your parents built.
If you value your freedom, don't trade it away.
Skaafin love deals. You could probably negotiate for something better. [verification needed — not sure if option is always there, or if it appears after talking to Xziamut]
"That's brilliant! I was willing to accept the situation, but you're right. There's another way around it. I don't know what I would have agreed to without you.
I know exactly what I'm going to propose."
Good luck.
I'll go speak to Xziamut. See what he has to say.
[Ends Conversation]

If you leave and return to the conversation after helping Captain Genevé decide what to do to complete the quest, she will say the following:

Captain Genevé Delitian Accepts
Captain Genevé Delitian Refuses:
Captain Genevé Delitian Negotiates:
"Well, no better time to let the Skaafin know that I accept his deal. Is it a little risky? Probably. But if you don't take risks, you don't grow. That's true for businesses as well."[verification needed — see talk page]
(?)
"I can't ask you to guard me through whatever comes next. Take this and consider our agreement complete.
And don't worry about me. My family accepted this deal before. I'm sure it won't be dangerous. Who knows, maybe I'll learn from this Skaafin."
[verification needed — see talk page]
"It's time to tell that Skaafin I'm not accepting his offer. I don't care how knowledgeable he is, the price is too steep."[verification needed — see talk page]
(?)
"The crew will find other work, as will I.
I promised you payment if we both made it out of this and you definitely kept me out of danger. I don't think the Skaafin is going to turn on us just because I refused to join him. You earned this."
"I refuse to agree to that Skaafin's terms, but maybe he'll acquiesce to mine. It's a long shot, but one that I have to take. Fortune favors the bold, right?"
You can do this.
"For someone who isn't a part of my crew, you worked so hard to help me save this contract. I hope this is enough to cover what I owe you. Even if this negotiation goes well, and I get what I want, I may still owe you a debt.
Wish me luck."

After completing the quest, Captain Genevé will approach Xziamut with a counteroffer:

Captain Genevé Delitian: "Join my crew and mentor me as you did my ancestors. In return, you'll earn double wages."
Xziamut: "What do I care for wages? If you want to treat with me, make it worth my time."
Captain Genevé Delitian: "I'll use my contacts to seek out those receptive to your Prince's whims. Your influence will grow beyond me and my ship."
Xziamut: "Well done! Consider that your first lesson. Always know what others really want."

You can then speak with Captain Genevé before you leave:

"It worked! I did it! Made a deal with a Daedra and got everything I wanted. Maybe I am meant to do this. Maybe I can save my family's business.
I'm so happy I don't know what to do!"
What will you do now?
"Go back to Shor's Stand and tell my crew what happened. They deserve to make up their own minds about their futures, just like you helped me do. After that? I don't know, but I'm hopeful.
I have you to thank for that."
Take care, Genevé.
"And you as well. I'm not sure if you learned as much from our time together as I did, but at least we both know not to make deals without thinking them through.
Maybe you knew that before, but it was a lesson I'll never forget."
