While looking for him, you'll find Empty Argonian Bottles that will form a trail under the bridge.

<An empty bottle that once contained a foul-smelling liquid. This must have been what Thod was drinking. Following the trail of bottles might lead to the missing guard.>

Once you find him, you try to wake him up but no avail:

"Oh yes, Naryu …. Whatever you say, Naryu …."

Guard Thod? Wake up!

"Don't want to. Want to sleep. Perfectly good dream … oh, Naryu … I love you, Naryu …."
