Jinninji-ri was the Mane of the Khajiiti people during the late First Era, before the unification of the Sixteen Kingdoms. Little is known about Jinninji-ri's life. He was responsible for the installation of reflectors in the Temple of the Dance in Dune during one of the many temple refurbishings circa 1E 2902.[1][2] When aligned properly and attuned to the moonlight, those reflectors were capable of projecting visions of past events.[3][4]

He died at some point before the ascension of Mane Zebiden-jo in circa 2E 182. His remains are preserved in the Tomb of the Manes in Rimmen Necropolis, a huge tomb complex located southwest of the Rimmen itself. He was buried together with other prominent Manes: Zebiden-jo and Tullar-dra.[5] His spirit's rest was briefly interrupted in 2E 582 when The Vestige escorted the remains of the ancient Khajiiti ruler Jora-ri to the burial chamber in the Tomb of the Manes.[6][7]

Notes[edit]

  • Although Rid-Thar-ri'Datta was dubbed the First Mane there were numerous Manes, Jinninji-ri among them, who lived chronologically before him.[8] Lawrence Schick stated that it could be "transcription error, but that would invalidate all these lovely theories" and as such refused to confirm that notion.[UOL 1] Founding date of the Pridehome in the late First Era further confirms existence of Manes prior to the ascension of Rid-Thar-ri'Datta.[9]
  • Khajiiti ritual icons depicting stylized lions, carved from large pieces of quartz were occasionally crafted during Jinninji-ri's life.[10][11]
  • The recipe of a drink known as Timestorm originated in Elsweyr during the reign of Mane Jinninji-ri.[12]
