Lawrence Schick was the lead content designer and loremaster at ZeniMax Online Studios in the late 2000s and throughout 2010s. Schick joined ZeniMax Online Studios in May 2009 as lead content designer for ESO. He was promoted to lead content writer in 2010, and in 2011 was promoted again to lead loremaster. He announced in February 2019 that he would be retiring from his position due to family reasons, being succeeded by Leamon Tuttle, and wrote an open letter to the community about the lore of the franchise's unique world. He now works at Larian Studios in Dublin, Ireland and writes Musketeer fiction under the pen name Lawrence Elsworth.
Schick's career as a game writer began in the late 1970s, when he was one of the early writers involved in Dungeons and Dragons. Through the 80s and 90s he was involved with many successful titles, and developed an interest in LARPs (Live Action Role Playing). In the early 2000s he was a freelance writer, up until 2007 when he joined the team for the planned MMO (but released as a single-player game) Kingdoms of Amalur. The team for KOA included former Elder Scrolls developer Ken Rolston.
Schick often roleplayed and answered questions under the name Phrastus of Elinhir, and occasionally appeared as a guest on episodes of ESO Live.
