Rpeh has already explained this, so I'll paraphrase it for pity's sake. Less is more, as has already been mentioned. The last thing new editors want is to be bombarded with links, bold writing and an image they've already seen on the Main Page. We've asked you not to use that template, so please refrain from it. Can't you understand that a welcome message should be simple, concise and meaningful? We don't need a splash of bold text, links to someone's own Userpage (which is utterly pointless) or an image that is probably the first thing most new editors will see of this site anyway! Yes, the Swiss. Did you know they shot down both Allied and Axis aircraft during the Second World War?
