Argonian Metaphors and Phrases[edit]
- turn back the river
- Saying that someone is attempting to "turn back the river" is akin to saying that someone is attempting to "turn back the clock". The subject of the phrase is attempting to revert things to the way things were in a previous time.[1]
- sap-sick
- Some rumors are like willow vipers—well-hidden and best left alone
Argonian Slang[edit]
- Milk-Sucker
- A sometimes derogatory term for a mammal, usually in reference to Men and Elves, who drink their mother's milk to survive as infants.[2]
- Hair-folk
- A term referring to other races which have hair on their heads and bodies. Men, Elves, Khajiit, etc.[3]
- Dryskin
- A term usually used to refer to non-Argonians.[4]
- Stone nests
- A term used to refer to houses or structures composed of materials that take longer to succumb to the wear of time, such as stone. Stone houses built by foreigners are referred to as stone nests, as are the xanmeers that dot the more.[4]
- hard-nests
- Another term for "xanmeer".
