Gillas Llarethi

Gillas Llarethi is a Dark Elf caretaker and lighthouse keeper in the small settlement of Bal Oyra. While it seems his day-to-day is in part spent practicing alchemy (as evidenced by the equipment in his lighthouse), he has lately grown concerned about the number of muskflies swarming the village.

It is Gillas who requests your assistance in exterminating the pests, and he is willing to use the flame of his own lighthouse to aid you in the task.

He wears a common shirt with matching pants and shoes. He wields an iron tanto, and carries 17 gold.

Aside from his natural resistance to fire and the sanctuary provided by his ancestors, he knows the following spells: Absorb Health, Detect Creature, Detect Key, Divine Intervention, Enrichment, Great Heal Companion, Mark, Recall, Resist Poison, Resist Shock, and Vigor.

There is a copy of The Second Door on top of the bookshelf on the first floor, and there is a small locked chest (30) on the table on the top floor that contains three pearls and leveled ingredients. The key to the chest is on the shelf to the right of the door on the first floor, under the lantern.

Miscellaneous[edit]

Dialogue[edit]

  • Greeting:
"Welcome to my lighthouse, %PCClass. Please, stay as long as you like. I don't often have the chance to meet a stranger."
  • Background:
"My name is %Name. I keep the fire burning at this lighthouse to guide vessels safely through the straits between Bal Oyra and Althoa."

Muskfly Infestation[edit]

  • Greeting:
"I'm counting on you to put an end to those muskflies."
  • muskflies:
"Yes, they've been quite a problem -- for me especially. I've figured out that they're attracted to the lighthouse flame. I'm keeping the fire as low as I can without extinguishing it. This seems to have cut down on the numbers coming into town, but not gotten rid of them completely. I think it's time to be a little less gentle. Would you be willing to eliminate all the muskflies in Bal Oyra?"
  • Yes, I will deal with the muskflies.: "Good. We've had enough of these muskflies. Get out and kill any that you see. Once they're all gone let me know."
  • No, I can't help with this.: "That's unfortunate, but I don't expect the muskflies will be going anywhere. If you change your mind, let me know."

If you have already killed the muskflies outside:

  • I already killed the muskflies outside.: "Good, to hear you've killed them, but that's only the first step. Even if you kill the ones that have reach town, there will always be more nearby. What we need to do is draw them all in and finish off the entire swarm at once. Like I said, I've been keeping the fire low. It's time to let the flame blaze brightly again. Take this oil and throw it in the fire. Then ready yourself. You'll have the whole swarm coming for you." (You receive Lighthouse Oil)
"You're back already? I'm certain there are more muskflies in the village. Get back out there and deal with them."
"Good, to hear you've killed them, but that's only the first step.
"Take the stairs to the top of the lighthouse and add the oil to the fire. That should draw in the entire swarm."
"Good to see you back in one piece. That should be the end of the muskfly swarm. I'm sure everyone in Bal Oyra will be relieved. More importantly, I can let the lighthouse flame burn at its fullest once again. The dull fire caused some troubles. But never mind that. We don't have much here, but take this gold for your hard work. And this fish too. It will cover the musk smell." (You receive 300 gold and 3 Dried Slaughterfish)
"With any luck, that will be the last we see of the muskflies."
