Dax Soranus is an Imperial bard who can be found on the ground floor of The Moth and Tiger inn in Old Ebonheart. For 10 gold, he can perform 4 different songs for you, 3 of which come with a different blessing that he bestows upon you when you exit dialogue with him. The songs are: Minstrel's Lament (Restore Health), Road Most Travelled (Restore Fatigue), Wings of Kynareth (Restore Magicka), and Reign of the Septims (No blessing).
He wears a common shirt with matching pants, shoes, and amulet. He carries a lute, a loaf of Colovian bread, and 27 gold.
Aside from his natural charm and ability to absorb fatigue from others, he knows no spells.
Dialogue[edit]
- Greetings:
- "Greetings to you, citizen! My name is Dax the Minstrel. I travel the lands and perform my songs to anyone who'll listen."
- "Greetings, %PCName. Would you like to hear me perform one of my songs?"
- Minstrel's Lament:
- "Minstrel's Lament tells the tale of Shezarr the Minstrel. It's a melancholic elegy often performed by bards at funerals, especially when a fellow troubadour has passed away. The song comforts and heals those with heavy hearts. I'll sing it to you for 10 septims."
- Let's hear it.:
- "O, how my friends have fallen and
- crumbled like autumn leaves, and
- gone to be dust and bones of the earth.
-
- O, how treacherous is the sunrise
- and how cruel are the winds divine
- that would play the hollow chimes.
-
- O, how feeble are the strings of life
- under the bow of death and decay,
- and how a lone drum is left beating,
- with the fires of yore." Goodbye (Removed 10 gold from your inventory, and he casts Minstrel's Lament on you)
-
- (If you don't have the gold):
- "No money, no song. Sorry."
-
- No thanks.:
- "You must be busy. I understand."
- my songs:
- "Oh, I have many songs. I can sing the Minstrel's Lament, the Road Most Travelled, Wings of Kynareth, or the Reign of the Septims."
- Reign of the Septims:
- "Reign of the Septims is a mnemonic song which lists many of the historical Emperors of Tamriel. There are a number of versions of it with their own lyrics, ranging from the vulgar ones muttered by peasant rabble when they think no one's listening to those recited by high-born children to their governesses. I'll sing my version of the song to you for 10 septims."
- Let's hear it.:
- "The first of the line was Tiber Septim,
- from humble beginnings he rose and came forth,
- and was crowned by the people of Tamriel:
- Hail Talos! Ysmir, the Dragon of the North!
-
- The great Katariah of House Raathim,
- the Grey Empress with Ruby Eyes.
- A stray arrow of Argonia found her heart--
- now 'neath Old Ebonheart she sleeping lies.
-
- Far to the foreign shores of Akavir,
- sailed the brave, young Uriel the Fifth,
- who was ambushed by the serpent swords,
- and fell on the fell fields of Ionith." (Removed 10 gold from your inventory)
-
- (If you don't have the gold):
- "No money, no song. Sorry."
-
- No thanks.:
- "You must be busy. I understand."
- Road Most Travelled:
- "The Road Most Travelled is an old Cyrodiilic travelling song. Travellers and caravaners often sing it to feel less worn out by their journeys. I'll sing it to you for 10 septims."
- Let's hear it.:
-
- I've been on the road to Hammerfell,
- the road of jackals and rogues.
- I've been on the road to Skyrim,
- the road of stags and hunters.
- But the road most travelled is the road home." Goodbye (Removed 10 gold from your inventory, and he casts Road Most Travelled on you)
-
- (If you don't have the gold):
- "No money, no song. Sorry."
-
- No thanks.:
- "You must be busy. I understand."
- Wings of Kynareth:
- "Wings of Kynareth is a simple Nibenean hymn dedicated to the goddess of air and nature. The followers of Kynareth believe that some of the goddess' magic will flow into whoever hums the song. I will sing it to you for 10 septims."
- Let's hear it.:
- "Blessed Kynareth, keeper of birds!
- Send me your wisdom, fill me with your breath!
-
- For I am a stranger in a land,
- over which strange constellations shine.
- And I carry on my shoulders
- the worries of my friends,
- the ill-will of my enemies,
- and ahead of me lies the wilderness
- which I don't understand.
-
- Heed my call, and lift me
- from the dirt which I'm doomed to walk." Goodbye (Removed 10 gold from your inventory, and he casts Wings of Kynareth on you)
