Skyrim talk:Message to Whiterun (Stormcloaks)

Incorrect Note[edit]
The note is incorrect because I've completed The Whispering Door after the Jarl was deposed by the Stormcloaks, simply by speaking to him in the basement of Solitude where he resides with the other deposed Jarls. His children (including the son who speaks to Mephala) remain in the city. Lobsel Vith 18:45, 22 November 2011 (UTC)
- ah, thank you, i hadnt tested, i thought he just disapeared when you finished the quest. (Eddie The Head 07:49, 23 November 2011 (UTC))
Hostilities?[edit]
Just started this quest at level 28 and I'm a fair way through the game. Just met Paarthunax and am now on this quest for the Stormcloaks, but everytime I enter Dragonsreach the entire hall turns hostile. Is this supposed to happen? AzureSN 23:36, 1 December 2011 (UTC)
- Probably not, I'm level 29 and I just started this quest too, but they are still friendly with me. Try to talk to one of the guards, you might have attacked one by accident or you used your shout at one (for example, unrelenting force), that will make them hostile.— Unsigned comment by 38.109.167.130 (talk) at 15:35 on 8 January 2012 (UTC)
- Same thing happened to me, although I have not reached that mission on the main quest. I was wearing the Stormcloak Armor, so maybe that caused them to become hostile? I checked my bounty and I had none. — Unsigned comment by 64.121.166.186 (talk) at 11:59 on 9 July 2012 (UTC)
Nothing Happens[edit]
I have completed bleak falls barrow, before the strom and dragon rising but the quest still won't update, any solutions?RIM 20:50, 27 December 2011 (UTC)
No Dialogue option[edit]
I have captured parthanax so the Jarl spends his time on the great porch. I have Ulfric's axe, but there is no dialogue option to give Ulfric's message. I have exhausted all dialogue options as well. — Unsigned comment by 184.174.144.108 (talk) at 18:45 on 4 January 2012
- Whoops not parthanax i meani have captured Odalving — Unsigned comment by 184.174.144.108 (talk) at 18:50 on 4 January 2012

- I haven't gotten that far yet, but I think if you finish the main story, then it should become available.— Unsigned comment by 38.109.167.130 (talk) at 15:35 on 8 January 2012 (UTC)
Can't finish quest[edit]
Hi, I've returned Ulfric's axe and he's spoken to Galmar. He approaches me and starts a conversation, but there is no orders anywhere. I completed the quest with the console, but can't start the following one. What do?

Not getting Ulfric's axe[edit]
This has been marked as a question that needs to be answered. |
I am in level 35 and just got the Jagged Crown and went right away to Ulfric and got the new quest to deliver his Axe to Baalgruf in Whiterun. But the axe is never added in my inventory and I can therefore not progress in the quest! Also trying the setstage code in the console doesn't help, no matter what stage I set to, even the last to finish the quest because then it just says it's finished, Ulfric will have his dialogue with Galmar about attacking Whiterun but he won't give me any orders to assist in battle. Hence I am at an dead end.. Help? (I dont have any savings left from before I talked to Ulfric and should have got the axe.) — Unsigned comment by 217.210.10.112 (talk) on 9 April 2012
- I'm not sure whether or not it's too late for you to try this (since you first asked in 2012, it probably is!), but I would try using the console to give myself Ulfric's war axe. Not sure what the item ID is, but the command 'help "ulfric's war axe"' should tell you. --Shahrazad the Listener (talk) 14:11, 26 November 2017
The described quest "stages" are those of the Legion Quest not of the Stormcloak Quest[edit]
see Headline... — Unsigned comment by 87.162.83.210 (talk) at 00:33 on 1 May 2012
- It has both Imperial and Stormcloak quest stages. I would assume it is because they both have the same Quest ID CW03. Although stage 11 "Deliver axe to the Jarl of Whiterun" seems to have been missed? — Kimi the Elf (talk | contribs) 01:10, 1 May 2012 (UTC)
Missing Galmar[edit]
When I returned from Whiterun, Galmar was not in the building. I gave the axe back to Ulfric and he went on to discuss the situation with Galmar, but since there was no Galmar, he just talked to himself. I used player.moveto to move to Galmar's location and he was just walking on the Windhelm bridge toward the gate. This is the first time I have seen this happen in several run-throughs of the Stormcloak story. I wonder why Galmar was just strolling back from who knows where? 76.102.46.144 18:43, 24 March 2014 (GMT)
Quest Glitched[edit]
Due to "necro post", again asking for help with a glitch noted above. Upon returning the axe to Ulfric, he talks to Galmar, and the objective to "Wait for orders" is marked as complete, but the quest does not finish and Battle for Whiterun does not begin. 70.54.44.162 21:51, 28 May 2014 (GMT)
- The next quest requires Galmar, so you would need to move him to the palace before the quest can register all is ok to start. Silence is GoldenBreak the Silence 21:54, 28 May 2014 (GMT)

- He's there. 70.54.44.162 22:24, 28 May 2014 (GMT)
Dragon Rising[edit]
I know on the Imperial side, Balgruuf doesn't want to hear about the Civil War until after you complete "Dragon Rising" (meaning that if you haven't started the main quest yet, it will trigger as if you'd just come from Helgen as soon as you approach the gates with Tullius's message in hand). Does it work the same way on this side? I assume it would, but I haven't personally played it through. Shahrazad the Listener (talk) 14:01, 26 November 2017 (UTC)
- Yes, whichever side you work for, he will say that it will have to wait until he's dealt with "this dragon situation". This means, among other things, that you cannot get the houses in Whiterun or Windhelm unless you start the random dragon attacks (which will begin at with the death of Mirmulnir), nor will you be able to do the alteration ritual spell or repairing the phial. If this is a problem for you, there are probably mods that will allow you to proceed, but the base game needs you to advance the main quest. --Vilding (talk) 18:55, 11 September 2018 (UTC)
