Page Creation?

Should there be a page on the geode veins, or should they only be described on either the Mining page, Soul Gem page or Blackreach page? As they only exist in Blackreach, their own page may be overkill. However it would create a convenient thing to link to when they need to be mentioned on the other three pages. -Melleh17 06:15, 20 February 2012 (UTC)

Any such page definitely does not belong at "Geode Ore" since no such item exists in the game. There already is a redirect at Geode Vein which points to Blackreach, and is being used on the Mining page. I don't see why any other pages need to be created. --Nephele^Talk 16:28, 20 February 2012 (UTC)

Since the release of Dragonborn there are now also Geodes that can be mined for the regular gems, such as amethyst, emerald, ruby, and sapphire. In fact, the Skyrim:Gems page currently shows redlinks (Wanted Pages) for pages for each of these new Geodes to be created in the Dragonborn namespace. I propose that, rather than creating individual pages for each Geode, we recycle this current page, remove the redirect, and provide information about all Geodes in Skyrim, including those in Blackreach and those found on Solstheim. There also needs to be a corresponding update to Skyrim:Mining, which currently lists Geode Veins (yielding Soul Gems) in the bulleted list, but nothing yielding Gems. The locations of the gemstone geodes should also be documented, probably in a table, something similar to this one. Sorry, yes, it does look like I'm talking to myself here. Anyone can jump in at any time and contribute. I want to get fresh insights and ideas, both for and against this suggestion. In the meantime, I'd like to point to Skyrim:Weapons as an example. It shows weapons and ammunition from both Skyrim and the various DLCs. Thus there shouldn't be any need to move this to the Dragonborn namespace just because the gemstone geodes are only available since Dragonborn.

Also, I'm thinking that rather than separating out the Geodes like I have suggested above, they could just be included in an expanded Skyrim:Mining page. Supporting this idea is the fact that ore veins do not currently have their own page either, and geode veins are basically just ore veins that produce crystalline minerals rather than metals.

Harking back to the opening posts in this thread, I notice that there are still a couple of pages that still link to Skyrim:Geode_Ore. These probably need to be changed as well, as part of this project, if it goes ahead. – Daric↝talk 11:19, 22 March 2013 (GMT)

I took this to the CP and got a bit of feedback from TheRealLurlock. Looks like a job for a Gaersmith then. I'm on it. I've made a start, collecting web resources into my Sandbox 'Or'. The content for the Geode Vein page itself will be built, from the gathered resources, in my Sandbox 'Un'. Both my Sandboxes 'Or' and 'Un' are open to collaboration for anyone who wants to help out. This will be my first major page building exercise in article space, so I'd like as much input and feedback as possible.
