Skyrim:Clothing
This page describes the mundane (non-magical) clothing items in Skyrim. The Generic Magic Apparel page details most magical clothing with the rest found at Specialty Gear; the category Skyrim-Clothing provides lists of all the individual pieces of clothing in the game. Clothing items do not provide any armor; wearing them doesn't improve the armor rating.
Clothes[edit]
These cover both your upper and lower body, and cannot be worn together with primary armor.

Circlets[edit]
When worn, circlets (including all enchanted circlets) occupy a special "circlet" body part slot. Most helmets and other headgear occupy both the "circlet" and "hair" body part slots; meaning that, in general, circlets cannot be worn with any other headgear. Similarly, most hooded robes occupy both the "circlet" and "hair" body part slots in addition to the "body" part slot. However, there are a handful of items that occupy only the "hair" and not the "circlet" body part slot, allowing them to be worn simultaneously with any circlet:
- Helmets:
- Falmer Helmets
- The Jagged Crown
- Penitus Oculatus Helmets
- The Ancient Shrouded Cowl can only be worn simultaneously with circlets by Khajiit and Argonians.[verification needed — see talk page]
- The Thieves Guild Hood, the Guild Master's Hood, the Blackguard's Hood, and the Torturer's Hood, but only if the player is a vampire. The hood will be marked as worn, but cannot be seen. Instead, the hair will disappear, making the player appear bald. Armor bonus from perks will be counted for both the hood and any worn circlet (if it has armor points and is classed as "Light Armor").
- Robes:
- Mythic Dawn Robes (hooded)
- Archmage's Robes (hooded)
The Aetherial CrownDG, Wedding Wreath, and all Dragon Priest Masks occupy only the "circlet" body part slot, and can therefore also be worn simultaneously with any of the aforementioned bugged items. Note that wearing two pieces of armored headgear, even if both are the same weight, negates the armor bonuses from the Well Fitted and Custom Fit perks. Various bugs that allow multiple head items to be equipped are fixed by the Unofficial Skyrim Patch.
Unlike amulets and rings, you cannot craft circlets at forges.

Notes[edit]
- Unlike in previous Elder Scrolls games, Skyrim's shirts, pants, and skirts are mixed together into a single "Clothes" item to optimize gameplay. It allows more NPCs to be in one place at the same time and reduces the chances of clothing glitches, mislabels, and errors.
- Additional clothing that you cannot normally obtain and/or use is listed on the Unobtainable Items page.
- Three of the Circlets have only one of their listed gem in their models, with the other two gems being onyxes. These are the Copper and Moonstone Circlet, the Silver and Sapphire Circlet, and the Gold and Ruby Circlet.
