Detailed Walkthrough[edit]
To begin this quest, speak to Swims-In-Deep-Water in the Riften Fishery:
- I got your letter. I'm ready for the next fishing challenge.
- "Of course. It's all in this note."
- Alright. I'll be back with the fish.
He then hands you a list of arctic fish, which tells you that you need to catch:
- Angler Larvae - You will need to use the Alik'ri rod. Multiple are guaranteed to spawn in Pilgrim's Trench on the ocean floor.
- Arctic Char - Use the Argonian rod at an Arctic spot. Can also be found at Hela's Folly, Orphan's Tear (within the sunken deck) and Pilgrim's Trench.
- Arctic Grayling - Use the Argonian rod at an Arctic spot.
- Cod - Use the Argonian rod at an Arctic spot. Can also be found outside Anga's Mill and outside Bronze Water Cave.
You can also optionally pickup a copy of Fishing Mastery, v3 from the shelf in the backroom.
Once you have the fish required return to Swims:
- Here are the fish you asked for.
- "It has done a good thing. It will take this gift as a token of gratitude."
He will then reward you with 300 gold.
Quest Stages[edit]
Frozen Fish (ccBGSSSE001_Fish_MQ3) | ||
---|---|---|
Stage | Finishes Quest | Journal Entry |
4 | I received a letter from Swims-In-Deep-Water about fishing challenges. I should see what it has to say. | |
6 | Swims-In-Deep-Water is ready to resume my fishing challenges. I should speak with him when I return to the Riften Fishery. | |
10 | Swims-In-Deep-Water has given me another fishing challenge. I should read the list he gave me to see what I will need to catch. | |
20 | The fish that Swims-In-Deep-Water has tasked me with catching are commonly found in the freezing waters of Skyrim's snow-capped landscapes. Once I've caught one of each, I should return them to him. I can consult the third volume of Fishing Mastery to learn more about my quarry. | |
21 | I have read the third volume of Fishing Mastery. All of the fish I need to catch to complete the challenge can be caught at fishing spots wherever there is freezing water near snow and ice. The docks of Windhelm, the water near Dawnstar, and the small lake near Nightgate Inn were mentioned as places I could try casting my line. | |
200 | I've given Swims-In-Deep-Water all of the fish he requested as proof of completing his fishing challenge. |

Notes
- Any text displayed in angle brackets (e.g.,
<Alias=LocationHold>
) is dynamically set by the Radiant Quest system, and will be filled in with the appropriate word(s) when seen in game. - Not all Journal Entries may appear in your journal; which entries appear and which entries do not depends on the manner in which the quest is done.
- Stages are not always in order of progress. This is usually the case with quests that have multiple possible outcomes or quests where certain tasks may be done in any order. Some stages may therefore repeat objectives seen in other stages.
- If an entry is marked as "Finishes Quest" it means the quest disappears from the Active Quest list, but you may still receive new entries for that quest.
- On the PC, it is possible to use the console to advance through the quest by entering
setstage ccBGSSSE001_Fish_MQ3 stage
, wherestage
is the number of the stage you wish to complete. It is not possible to un-complete (i.e. go back) quest stages, but it is possible to clear all stages of the quest usingresetquest ccBGSSSE001_Fish_MQ3
.
