Tachnim

Tachnim is a Dremora tasked by his master to guard Baelborne Rock. During the related quest, you will need to decide who to side with over the matter of the Baelborne family curse. If you choose to side with Athel Baelborne, you'll need to find and vanquish Tachnim.

Skills and Abilities

Shock

A basic ranged attack that does minor shock damage.

Thunder Thrall

The enemy teleports to you and summons a bolt of lightning that strikes a large area around itself. This attack does moderate shock damage to all players as indicated by the red circle.

Quest-Related Events

If you decide to meddle with the Daedric warding stone in an attempt to break the curse, Tachnim will appear.

Tachnim: "You interfere with matters that don't concern you. The deal was sealed long ago. The Baelborne child has served us well and I will uphold the bargain I made."

Tachnim: "To break the curse you must destroy me, mortal. I warn you, that won't be as simple as you imagine. Just leave well enough alone."

If you chose to help Athel, you will need to vanquish Tachnim as mentioned above, and afterward Athel will come across a strange but familiar-looking man. In the case you chose to support Claudie Themond's wish of vengeance and told Athel to leave, you will be attacked by Athel's guards. By the time you return, you find Tachnim and Claudie looking down at Athel's broken body at the base of the cliff.

Tachnim will remain at the cliff after completing the quest, overlooking the Vale of the Guardians below. You will be able to converse with him about what happened:

"A pact was forged here many years ago. No Baelborne may walk this land. Any of that bloodline who ignore this decree shall be dealt with.
Harshly."

You made the deal with Claudie?

"My master made the deal. I am merely the messenger that carried out his orders."

What happened to Claudie's child?

"He serves at my master's side.
For as long as the child remains useful, I shall honor the bargain that was struck."

Why help Claudie? The Dremora are evil.

"Evil? Such a mortal way of thinking. I exist to serve a purpose. Right now, that purpose is to ward this land from the Baelborne.
When my master commands it, my purpose will change. That is not good or evil. It simply is."
