Despite its name, Phaer Catacombs is not the village cemetery, as the High Elves cremate their dead. These caves are a worked-out porphyry mine, now converted to a burial site for those foreign workers the Altmer bring in to do their menial labor.

Phaer Catacombs

Phaer Catacombs is an old mine in the northwest of Phaer, recently converted to a quarantine site. The mine can only be accessed during the related quest.

Phaer Quarantine

Upon entry, you will find a few bedrolls where the quarantined citizens had been sleeping, upon which are a Letter from Camarino, a Letter from Lenwe and a Letter from Minique.

Further into the mine you will start to find Bloodthralls, and in the first large chamber, Hendil will send Amuur to stop you.

Inner Chamber

After finding Hendil, you will be able to enter the inner chamber, where you will need to defeat Tancano. Iwelien's body is on the ground in front of a stone altar, and Tancano's Journal can be found on a table in the corner.
