King Laloriaran Dynar is the last Ayleid king. In the Ayleid language, his name means "Ruler in Dark Times", which refers to the end of his people. He is Meridia's master tactician and strategist.
Molag Bal trapped him in the Lightless Oubliette a short time after Meridia brought the Hollow City into Coldharbour. The warped time of Coldharbour and his loyalty to Meridia allowed him to live longer than any of his people.
He is the author of A Life of Strife and Struggle, the notes for an autobiography.

Quest-Related Events[edit]
A Step Back in Time[edit]
Laloriaran Dynar has unexpectedly shown up in the Direnni camp and agreed to reinforce their assault. Talk to him and he'll puzzle:
- "A Breton fighting for the Direnni? Somewhat surprising though not unheard of considering the current circumstances.
Wait a moment. That armor …. I've heard stories about you. They say you fight as if Auri-El himself blessed you." - We recovered these orders from an Alessian soldier.
- "The situation unfolding upon the battlefield is telling enough. These orders only confirm my suspicions.
The Alessians plan to slip past your defenses to, how do they put it, catch the Direnni with their trousers down? What a curious phrase." - What should we do?
- "Use the Direnni magic of your armor to spot the covert Shadow Scouts before they can do any significant damage, then dispatch them with extreme prejudice. Simple enough, really.
But I'm actually very curious about you." - Why are you interested in me?
- "These old Ayleid eyes see many things. Everyone in this yard, for example, radiates an aura of life force.
But not you. Your aura's missing. I can't tell if you're not truly alive or you just don't belong. I've never seen magic like this before."
You can respond in one of two ways:
- I'm not sure what you're talking about.
- "Perhaps. Perhaps not. But this is neither the time nor the place for this conversation. We shall meet again and then we shall see what we shall see.
But now we have a battle to win. I appreciate your report."
- "Perhaps. Perhaps not. But this is neither the time nor the place for this conversation. We shall meet again and then we shall see what we shall see.
- You're right. I don't belong here.
- "Honesty! A most redeeming quality. But we will have to speak of this later, when matters are less pressing. Right now we have a battle to win. I appreciate your report."
- "Though this battle is important, Aiden Direnni expects my blade to lead the assault against a key Alessian camp to the north.
And what a glorious battle it will be! I'll be leaving shortly."
If you speak to him before entering battle, and he'll only say:
- "Follow my advice and those covert Alessians shouldn't give you any trouble."
The Hollow City[edit]
If you chose the first option, the Groundskeeper will start walking around the city along the road, narrating the history of the city. Occasionally illusions will appear to complement her story. You will see the illusion of King Dynar.
When she stays on the bridge for a moment, watching the phantom figure of King Dynar.
- The Groundskeeper: "The Ayleid King single-handedly protected one of the gates. As he fought, he prayed for assistance. And his prayers were answered."
- The Groundskeeper: "Meridia felt compassion for her followers, but she also saw an opportunity. Molag Bal's open portal worked both ways. The time had come to take the battle to Coldharbour."
The Groundskeeper stops and turns to the entrance gate, she watches as King Dynar is captured and magically bound.
- The Groundskeeper: "Meridia warded the city and pushed it into Coldharbour. The city arrived intact, but many of its inhabitants were either killed or scattered by this realm's protective spells. Even the Ayleid King was captured."
- The Groundskeeper: "Still, Meridia had accomplished the impossible. She stabbed a dagger into Molag Bal's side. A portion of her realm was in his domain—and he could not touch it."
The Library of Dusk[edit]
Once you have taken the Light of Meridia from above the of the Library of Dusk, a projection of Laloriaran Dynar will appear and offer you assistance.
- Projection of King Laloriaran Dynar: "These Lights of Meridia can free me from Molag Bal's bondage. Find them and bring them to me."
- Projection of King Laloriaran Dynar: "Know that you may jump from here and rejoin your friends below. What power I still possess shall keep you safe. (He casts a spell to slow your fall.)

Once you have found a passage into the Lightless Oubliette with the help of either the Lamias or the Shadow Walkers, the projection of the king will appear, announcing your arrival.
- King Laloriaran Dynar: "The promised one has finally arrived. The Light of Meridia is yours to claim. With it, you can finally set me free."
When you have pulled back the tree roots and retrieved the Light:
- King Laloriaran Dynar: "Excellent! Bring the crystal with you. You will need it to free me from my bonds."
You can then head over to the projection which is standing at the top of the stairs. You must speak with hi to complete the previous quest.
- "I have waited for centuries. And waited … and waited. Do you know how boring that can be?
But now you are here. Just as Meridia foretold." - Meridia knew I was coming?
- "The Radiant One knows many things. She knew that one day the city she plunged into Coldharbour would serve her purpose. At first, she thought I would fulfill that prophecy.
But I failed, and now I need your help." - Where are you projecting this image from?
- "Have no fear. I am as alive as you are. Molag Bal has preserved me so that I can endure his endless tortures. His cruelty knows no bounds.
I can't slip free of this lightless oubliette, but I have managed to send my projection to meet you." - How do I set you free?

If you exit the conversation before finishing the quest and speak with him again:
- "You carry the Light of Meridia. I can sense it! Soon, we shall strike back against the Lord of Brutality!"
Light from the Darkness[edit]
Once you have completed the previous quest, he will ask you if you are ready to help him escape. When you approach him, he says:
- "Bring the Light, hurry!"
Speak with him to press on.
- "You made it this far, just as I had predicted. I am glad to see that my calculations were not in error.
Now, if you are ready, we have a prison to break out of." - How did you wind up in here?
- "I was captured shortly after Meridia pushed her city into this dread realm. This prison relies on darkness. Early on, I almost broke free.
Now Molag Bal shapes the darkness itself to bind me, suppressing my attempts to escape." - So what should I do?
- "Molag Bal has trapped me within a pillar of darkness infused with his own vile energy and powered by the Light of Meridia. That, however, will be his undoing!
The Light of Meridia can also banish this darkness, but you have to bring it to me." - I'm on my way.
Asking more about him:
- "To reach me, you must first unlock the prison door. Molag Bal uses crystallized darkness to hold me and suppress my power.
Move the crystals from their locations to the prison door and the way shall be opened for you." - Who are you, exactly?
- "I am the last Ayleid king.
In our ancient language, my name means Ruler in Dark Times. I can imagine no darker time than the end of the Ayleid people." - How have you survived this long?
- "I am a servant of Meridia. Her master tactician and strategist.
Between my master's blessings and the time-distorting nature of this dread realm, I am still alive. Consider that your good fortune, for you will never defeat Molag Bal without my help." - I'll bring the Light of Meridia to you.
If you speak with him again, he will give a summary of what must be done.
- "Enter this Lightless Oubliette. Draw upon the Light of Meridia to protect you. It can disrupt the darkness that shall seek to slow you down.
Then move the crystals to gain access to my prison. This strategy shall succeed. I am certain of it!"
Once you have entered the main part of the prison, his projection will appear as you approach the entrance to one of the prison's wings.
When getting the Flameshadow Crystal:
- King Laloriaran Dynar: "Enter the frozen alcove and collect the Flameshadow Crystal. Then place it on the central dais at the entrance."
When getting the Lifeshadow Crystal:
- King Laloriaran Dynar: "Enter the garden and collect the Lifeshadow Crystal. Then place it on the central dais at the entrance."
When getting the Mindshadow Crystal:
- King Laloriaran Dynar: "Enter the library and collect the Mindshadow Crystal. Then place it on the central dais at the entrance."
Once you have placed all three crystals, the entrance to King Dynar's prison will unlock.
- Projection of King Laloriaran Dynar: "Well done, my friend. Now enter the oubliette and set me free."
Inside the Lightless Cell[edit]
When you enter the chamber, King Dynar's projection will appear.
- King Laloriaran Dynar: "You have done well to make it this far, but there is still more to do to set me free."
- King Laloriaran Dynar: "My body is imprisoned within a pillar of darkness, generated by the ebon shards to each side."
The projection will then walk down the stairs to a sconce to continue his explanation.
- King Laloriaran Dynar: "Place a Light of Meridia in both of the sconces. Each will create a beam of light that will strike a nearby crystal."
He will then walk over to a nearby crystal:
- King Laloriaran Dynar: "By rotating the crystals, you can change a beam's direction. You may need to rotate a crystal multiple times to connect the beams and form a path of light to the ebon shards."
- King Laloriaran Dynar: "Adjust the crystals until the beams of light destroy the ebon shards. Then the pillar of darkness will collapse and I shall be free.
If you interact with King Dynar before he is freed, he will say the following lines:
- King Laloriaran Dynar: "There's a familiar sight..."
- King Laloriaran Dynar: "I'm sure glad to see you!"
- King Laloriaran Dynar: "Hurry now - release me."
- King Laloriaran Dynar: "Won't you free me?"
- King Laloriaran Dynar: "Back again?"
Once the two ebon shards have been destroyed, the magic holding King Dynar will collapse. You can then speak with him to see how he is.
- "Ah, freedom at long last! My calculations suggested that you had a slightly better chance to fail rather than to succeed. I suspect, though, that you often beat the odds. Thank you."
- Are you hurt?
- "No. A little weary, perhaps, but not injured. My mind remains sharp, however. I suggest we make our escape from this place. It is the only tactically sound option at our disposal."
- Let's get out of here
- "Agreed. Allow me to create a portal to Meridia's city. We can speak there."
If you speak to him again, he says:
- "Let us not dawdle in this vile place. Find me in the Hollow City and speak to me there."
When he creates the portal, he will speak to you before he enters it.
- King Laloriaran Dynar: "This portal leads to the Hollow City. We shall talk again when we are safely inside its walls."
The portal will deposit you just outside the gate to the Fighters Guild Hall. Go through the gates and speak with King Dynar who will be standing with the Groundskeeper.
- "I have barely set foot within these hallowed walls and I already feel a thousand times better!
And now that you are here, we can determine our next move against the vile Molag Bal." - Do you have a plan?
- "I must take stock of our assets and resources. Determine just how much might we can bring to bear. Only then can I develop a strategy that shall allow us to win this war.
But forgive me. I wanted to convey that you performed admirably at the tower."
The Army of Meridia - In Hollow City[edit]
Outside the Fighters Guildhall, he announces his intention to lead the Fighters Guild:
- "It is good to be back in this ancient city. I need to assess our strengths and weaknesses, determine how best to make our assault against Molag Bal.
If we strike before we build up a sufficient force, however, I fear we shall lose this war." - What do you suggest?
- "The soldiers. The ones who call themselves the Fighters Guild. They seem strong and capable, at least at first glance.
I shall speak to their leader at once." - I'm not sure who's in charge of this force
- "No leader? That is an unacceptable situation. I shall take command of this Fighter Guild force. It is the only logical solution.
Talk to those within this building. After I consult with the Groundskeeper, I shall join you inside."
If you speak to him before entering, he'll say:
- "We have made excellent progress thus far, but there is still so much to do. Continue your efforts to fill this city and strengthen our army. We shall require every ally we can muster if we are to successfully challenge the Lord of Schemes."
Inside the Fighters' Guild[edit]
When you enter the Hall you can overhear Darien Gautier and Valorone argue.
- Darien Gautier: "Your nagging is becoming more annoying than my persistent rash. We finally have a secure base—to go back outside without a plan is even too foolhardy for me."
- Valorone: You want us to hide behind these walls? To leave our comrades to die while you sip wine and lounge about? You have no honor, knight!"
- Darien Gautier: "Don't lecture me about honor, Elf! You have no idea what I've seen or what I've gone through!"
After you have spoken with Darien, King Dynar will then announce himself and the arguing fighters will have no idea who he is.
- King Laloriaran Dynar: "Attend me, soldiers! We have a war to win and time grows short.
- Valorone: "What in Auriel's name is this? Who are you?"
- Darien Gautier: "So that's the last Ayleid, huh? I thought he'd be more … dusty. Isn't that what happens when Elves get really, really old?"
- Valorone: "Shut it, you fop."
- King Laloriaran Dynar: Who's in charge of this group? Step forward and address me."
- <Silence hangs in the room.>
- King Laloriaran Dynar: "Then allow me to rectify that. I shall lead you. We shall recover your comrades and complete your mission. If that does not work for you, your services are no longer needed."
- Valorone: "I don't know who you are, but you aren't Fighters Guild. You have no authority over us!"
- King Laloriaran Dynar: "Do you challenge me, then? Do you want me to kill you to prove my combat prowess to your companions?"
- Darien Gautier: "I wouldn't necessarily mind seeing that. He is kind of annoying."
- Valorone: "How can you expect us to lay down our lives for someone we never met? Trust is earned on the battlefield!"
- King Laloriaran Dynar: "If you want to survive, if you want to win this, you must trust me. Allow me to explain why you need my leadership."
- King Laloriaran Dynar: "We shall work this out. I understand your reservations. But with my leadership, the Fighters Guild will help us win this war."
After his speech, you can speak with him.
- "I do not expect this group to blindly trust me. That would be foolish.
I plan to instill them with confidence so that when the others arrive they will follow me without question." - What's your plan?
- "For now? I shall speak with each soldier here. Tell them what I think we should do and how we should do it. Perhaps listen to their opinions.
To rush into battle with no allegiance is to command a unit that is already defeated." - And what should we do, exactly?
- "Continue to amass our forces until we have enough troops. Then we meet in council and plan our attack.
The Chasm to the north protects Molag Bal's inner sanctum. We must cross it and confront the Prince if we hope to save Nirn."
Talking to him outside the Fighters' Guild[edit]
- "We have made excellent progress thus far, but there is still so much to do. Continue your efforts to fill this city and strengthen our army. We shall require every ally we can muster if we are to successfully challenge the Lord of Schemes."
At the War Council in the Cathedral[edit]
After both Vanus Galerion and Laloriaran Dynar have been rescued and the city restored, a War Council about the final assault will be held in the Chapel of Light. King Dynar will be presiding and you can speak with him to begin the meeting.
- "Welcome, friend. We need to discuss the preparations for the coming assault, but I wanted to wait until you arrived.
Do you have any questions before we begin?" - Do we really need to attack Molag Bal?
- "We need to end the Planemeld before Nirn is destroyed. To do that, we must deal with the planar vortex. To reach the vortex, we need to cross the Chasm and get through whatever defenses the Dark Lord throws at us.
I fear battle is inevitable." - All right, let's start the council.
- "Well said, friend! Please, hold your questions until everyone who wants to has had an opportunity to speak.
After that, we can debate the details as you see fit."'
The War Council will then begin:
- King Laloriaran Dynar: "Attention, please! I have called you all here because the moment of destiny fast approaches."
- King Laloriaran Dynar: "The Great Shackle has been destroyed, but not before a planar vortex was established. We must destroy this vortex before it sucks the very essence of Nirn into Coldharbour."
- King Laloriaran Dynar: "The Fighters Guild shall deal with the Chasm's defenders, but blades have little power against magic."
- Vanus Galerion: "And that's where my mages come in."
- Vanus Galerion: "Out scouts report that some kind of magical fixtures block access to the path across the Chasm. Mages there already work on a way to overcome these fixtures, and we are prepared to lend our strength when the main force arrives."
- Sergeant Kamu: "A sound plan. Plays to our unique strengths. But this one wonders, what if the mages can't overcome Molag Bal's magic?
- Vanus Galerion: "A ridiculous question! Of course my mages can overcome this magic!"
- Cadwell: "Ah, magic! The solution to all life's problems. I love magic! It's so … magical."
- King Laloriaran Dynar: "I have absolute confidence in Vanus and his mages."
- Gabrielle Benele: "Thank you, your lordship. But to be honest with you, I'm not feeling as confident as Vanus about this."
- King Laloriaran Dynar: "We shall fight with all our strength. There is no other option. Lives will be lost, but hopefully a world will be saved."
- King Laloriaran Dynar: "Know that the Chasm is only the first stage of this battle. The planar vortex abides within the very heart of the Molag Bal's lair."
- Darien Gautier: "Oh, this just gets better and better!"
- Gabrielle Benele: "Darien! Mind your tongue!"
- King Laloriaran Dynar: "Darien only seeks to lighten a tense situation. Still, we have to try. To do nothing is to doom Tamriel to certain destruction."
- Darien Gautier: "Well, when you put it that way, there are a lot of lovely ladies that need to be saved …."
- Vanus Galerion: "Yes, well, be that as it may, we launch our assault on the Chasm immediately. The King needs to talk to the champion and I must discuss some final details with the mages. The rest of you have your own preparations to see to, I'm sure."
Once everyone else has left you can talk with King Dynar.
- "It is settled. We shall cross the Chasm and make our way to the planar vortex at the heart of Molag Bal's realm.
Now that you know the plan, I have a special request to make of you." - I'm listening.
- "This mission needs a leader. I want you to lead the assault across the Chasm.
We have asked so much of you and you have already accomplished the impossible, but you are one of a very small few that I would trust with this task."
Crossing the Chasm[edit]
After declaring you a commander, King Dynar will immediately get into the details of the plan.
- "I knew we could count on you. You have never disappointed me. But there is so much left to do if we are going to win this war.
Still, with you leading the charge, we have an excellent chance to end the Planemeld and save our world." - Explain the plan to me again, Your Highness.
- "With the combined forces of the Fighters Guild and the Mages Guild, we must take the battle to Molag Bal and reach the portal to the planar vortex.
It all starts at the Chasm. Scouts are already in place, gathering information ahead of your arrival." - Tell me more about the Chasm.
- "It is a narrow, well-defended span of rock swarming with Daedra and dominated by a gatehouse that blocks the way into Molag Bal's personal domain.
Cadwell knows the region. He's a strange fellow, but I trust him. He's waiting for you at the Chasm." - I'll find Cadwell and we'll cross the Chasm.
If you speak with him after getting you orders, he will remind you.
- "It is vitally important that we take the Chasm. If we fail, we'll never be able to cross into Molag Bal's inner sanctum and reach the portal to the planar vortex.
Cadwell will aid you. He sees the world in a different way, but he's a good man."
The Citadel Must Fall[edit]
When you reach the land bridge to the south of the Reaver Citadel, King Dynar will be waiting for your arrival:
- "Ah, here comes the champion. Just in time, as always."
Speak with him to see what his orders are.
- "We have come so far, but we have leagues to go before this business is concluded.
We must push forward! We must find a way through the walls of the fortified city that looms ahead of us." - I'm ready to help, Your Highness.
- "A Dremora army guards the walls of the citadel. But there are those among us who recognize this city, we knew it well before it was pulled from Nirn.
We can use the guild halls inside to launch a surprise attack, provided someone prepares the way." - What do you need me to do?
- "Find a way inside and locate the Fighters Guild.
Wards protect the hall, making it impossible for anyone to get in or out of the building. We know a secret tunnel that leads into the hall, but we'll be trapped inside until the wards are deactivated." - I'll find a way to deactivate the wards.
Asking further questions about the plan:
- "Time is not on our side, but I will indulge you. Ask your questions."
- How do I deactivate the wards protecting the Fighters Guild hall?
- "The wards are part of the defenses from an earlier era. They could be activated to protect guild halls in times of trouble. Once set, the only way in or out of the hall was through the secret passageways.
You need to find the ward key." - The ward key?
- "The ward key is decorated with arcane runes that can unbind the defenses and deactivate the wards. It should be near the guild hall.
Find the key and deactivate the wards. Then the fighters can emerge from the hall and surprise the Dremora."
- "The wards are part of the defenses from an earlier era. They could be activated to protect guild halls in times of trouble. Once set, the only way in or out of the hall was through the secret passageways.
- Do you have any ideas on how I can get inside the walls?
- "Even the strongest armor has chinks that can be taken advantage of. Look for a place to climb or a break to crawl through.
The female Dremora offered to help us, but Galerion sent her away. If you run into her, see what she has to say."

If you have worked with Lyranth before, you can say:

- "Then you should certainly seek her out. We could use whatever help is offered, no matter its source.
Just be on your guard. A Dremora would never offer help without some sort of string attached."
- Please explain the plan to me again.
- "Our ultimate goal, the portal to the planar vortex, lies deep within Molag Bal's inner sanctum. We need to defeat the forces at the citadel before we can make our final push for the portal.
To accomplish this, we have planned a two-pronged attack." - A two-pronged attack?
- "It starts with a sneak attack launched from the Fighters Guild hall—after you find the key and deactivate the wards.
Then the mages will attack from their guild hall, but I'll explain that part of the plan when you meet us at the Fighters Guild." - How do you know about these guild halls?
- "Members of our expedition recognize the city from when it was still a part of Nirn. They are familiar with the guild halls and how we can use them to our advantage.
It's ironic. One of Molag Bal's captured cities is about to be turned against him."
- "Our ultimate goal, the portal to the planar vortex, lies deep within Molag Bal's inner sanctum. We need to defeat the forces at the citadel before we can make our final push for the portal.
If you speak to him again before leaving, he'll say:
- "With your help, we will launch a two-pronged attack into the citadel. It starts with the abandoned Fighters Guild hall within the city.
While the fighters use the secret tunnel to reach the hall, you need to find the key to deactivate the wards." - I have some questions.
- He'll reiterate "Time is not on our side..." above.
Once you have unlocked the doors to the Guild Hall, you can find him on the second floor.
- "I knew you'd be able to deactivate the wards. The Fighters Guild troops have already begun our two-pronged attack."
- What do we need to do to launch phase two?
He will ask you to activate the portal for reinforcements to arrive:
- "The fighters will draw the attention of the Dremora while you go to the upper city.
For the mages to utilize their guild hall's portal, you need to get it working. Find the four portal stones and activate them. Then the mages can join the fray." - Why do the mages need a portal?
- "As Galerion pointed out, the old guild hall portals are designed to move people and material quickly. More efficient and less draining than personal teleport spells.
And, of course, they can arrive en masse. Just what we need to surround the enemy."

- I'll get the portal working.
Speaking to him again:
- "Hurry, now. Get to the upper city and activate the Mages Guild portal.
Without the help of the mages, this entire endeavor could come crashing down around us."
After you have found the key to the Labyrinth, King Dynar will at the portal entrance with the amassed forces.
- "I have seen more than my fair share of years. Many more. But in all that time, I've never contemplated something as foolhardy as this.
We're about to face a Daedric Prince for the fate of our world, and I couldn't be more proud of all of you."
The Final Assault[edit]
After you have spoken to Gabrielle and Hahnin about the plan, you can ask King Dynar if he would accompany you.
- "Once you select the companion that will aid you in the initial offensive, let me know.
As soon as you're ready, we'll begin our assault." - Clearly, you're the best choice to accompany me on this mission.
- "If only things were that simple. You have your task to perform, and I have mine. While you close the reinforcement portal, I must oversee the rest of our forces.
You've made it this far. I have no reason to believe you won't succeed." - Then I guess I'll get going.
- "You've already done more than I'd expect from anyone here except for perhaps myself. Return to me after you have made your selection."
Once you have made your selection of companion, you can return to King Dynar.
- "Have you selected a companion to accompany you? If you need more time to speak with your friends, please take it. This might be the last chance you get. When you're ready, I'll give you final instructions and we can begin our final assault."
- I'm ready.
- "Very well. Come with me and I'll explain the exact details of your mission."
He will then give a briefing addressed to you and the gathered militia forces:
- Laloriaran Dynar: "Our forces are gathered and the time has come to strike fast and strike hard. Time is not on our side, so we must make every moment count."
- "Troops are already inside, fighting and holding ground, causing a distraction so that you can deal with Molag Bal's ability to call reinforcements."
- (Cadwell is chosen): "For the initial assault, Cadwell will assist you. Don't be fooled by his bizarre antics, for his heart is full of courage and honor."
- (Skordo is chosen): "Skordo the Knife, pride of the Fighters Guild, will aid you in your initial assault. Let his strength sweep away your foes and keep you safe."
- (Darien is chosen): "Darien the Brave joins you on your first assault. Allow his courage to be your beacon in the darkness."
- (Tzik'nith is chosen): "The lamia will join you for your initial assault. Allow her ferocity and determination to lead you to victory."
- "Close the reinforcement portal. That is your first priority. Gabrielle and her forces will join you then for the push to the Labyrinth."
- "Once the Labyrinth is opened, you must make your way through Molag Bal's personal sanctum and find the portal to the planar vortex."
- "That is your ultimate objective. If we are to end the Planemeld, we must disrupt the planar vortex and cease its destructive storm."
- "Take your brave companion and venture forth! Close the reinforcement portal so that our forces can wage war on the Daedric Prince. Then open the Labyrinth and lead us to the planar vortex. Our destiny is in your hands!"
If you talk to him before entering the gateway he tell you:
- "Close that reinforcement portal so that we can send the rest of our forces inside.
I know you will make me proud!"
After entering the Planar Vortex, Dynar will be among those present within the realm. You can speak to him and your other allies before journeying further:
- "I thought the battle behind us was dreadful, but this place … it boggles the mind!
Still, we've made it this far. Victory is within our grasp, especially now that the Radiant Lady stands with us." - I appreciate the help and advice you've provided so far.
- "I've seen the rise and fall of my people. Yet I stand before you, the last of my kind. I am the last Ayleid.
But I am proud to call you my friend." - What were your people like?
- "Cruel tyrants and conquerers [sic] who believed ourselves better than the other races of Nirn.
When the lesser races decided we were the enemy, and united against us, our downfall was all but guaranteed. We were too stubborn to see where we were wrong." - You disagreed with your people?
- "There is a reason I am the last King of the Ayleids. I stood alongside the younger races, aided them. I believed in what they fought for.
I was there when the power of High Rock switched from the Alessians to the Direnni." - I remember you. You were at the battle against Faolchu. (Appears if you completed
- "And I remember you, my young friend.
The magic of your armor was not enough to deceive me, though the power you wielded could have done more harm than good. I am glad you used it to make the right decision in the end."
After the Dark Anchors are destroyed, King Dynar will go with you to place the Light of Meridia.
- King Laloriaran Dynar: "No one else dies today. That's an order. Come on, let's go set the light in place."
Once you do so, you will be beset by Molag Bal's council.
- Clorsatari: "The light approaches. It brightens the shadows. It attempts to break the darkness."
- Kehothar: "But the darkness is strong. Our father, our god—he is the darkness. He shall repel the light."
- Verkynvayl: "Our father approaches. He will consume the light. He will tear it apart. He will destroy it. He will destroy you!"
- Clorsatari: "Our father has spoken. He wishes us to challenge you and you alone."
- King Dynar: "What... what's going on? No!"
King Dynar will be banished from the area and Molag Bal will begin to mock you as you fight his council.
- Molag Bal: "You believe that light can destroy my Planemeld? Your Prince thinks I would allow this? She is more foolish than I thought."
- Clorsatari: "I live to serve. It will be my pleasure to destroy this one, my lord."
- Molag Bal: "Oh, how sad. You were drafted into a war you could never win. My council shall destroy you. I shall enjoy watching a hero die!"
After you slay the last of the council, Meridia will arrive with your allies. King Dynar and Darien will hold off Molag Bal's forces while the mages charge the Light of Meridia.
As the fight progresses:
- Darien Gautier: "These are some ugly bastards! Is this the best Molag Bal can throw at us? I'm hardly working up a sweat!"
- King Laloriaran Dynar: "This may well be our last battle. Let's make them remember it!"
When the spell on the Light of Meridia is ready the following will happen:
- Meridia: "You must hurry! My shield can't withstand much more of this!"
- Vanus Galerion: "Almost … there!
- Gabrielle Benele: "I can feel it, Vanus! We can beat this! We can—Darien, behind you!"
- Darien Gautier: "Have no fear, beautiful Gabrielle! I have this under control!"
- King Laloriaran Dynar: "You have to hurry! We can't hold them back much longer."
- Meridia: "The light is ready! Quickly, release it!"
- Molag Bal: "No! You cannot do this! I cannot fail!"
- Gabrielle Benele: "Darien! Get back here! Darien!"
You will then experience a bright light and be transported to the Chapel of Light. King Dynar has been mortally wounded from the fight and is being tended to by Vanus and Gabrielle. You can then speak with him in his final moments.
- "My time has finally come it seems. I have… I have lived far longer than any of my people.
Finally … I will … I will be able to join them once more." - What happened? How did you receive such grievous injuries?
- "Meridia's shield protected the others. Darien and I were outside the shield, dealing with Molag Bal's damn portals.
I watched as light filled your body. You were a beacon. And the last thing I will ever see." - You can't see me?
- Darkness fills my eyes. As the light erupted around me, someone pushed me closer to Meridia's shield. It was too late to save me, but it did bring me here.
My fate doesn't matter. I'm gladdened by the thought that Nirn is safe." - We stopped the Planemeld.
- "Then I shall … I shall rest well knowing my final day … the final day of the Ayleid people … was spent saving Nirn from the clutches of Molag Bal.
And I … I …." - Save your strength, King Dynar.
- "I want you to … to have this. A gift from my people to the hero of Nirn. To honor you … and those who fell beside me in this great battle. Thank … thank you.
May the … spirits … guide me on my … way …."
If you exit out of the conversation before turning in the quest:
- "My time has finally come it seems. I have… I have lived far longer than any of my people.
Finally … I will … I will be able to join them once more." - What do I need to do then? (Leads to quest completion dialogue)
With his dying breath, he rewards you with Ayleid's Wrath, his two-handed glass sword, as a gift from his people. After completing the quest, he will perish.
Old Life Observance[edit]
After his death, the spirit of King Laloriaran Dynar may return from Aetherius and appear to you during the New Life Festival event quest Old Life Observance when you perform a remembrance ceremony at one of the Old Life shrines.

A few lines from the Update 7 text file that were intended for The Final Assault never see use. It seems all of the companions you'd gathered throughout Coldharbour's quests would have been mentioned in the king's speech. look for Gadris alt line

- "The dark power of Angof is yours to command. Use his seeds to call forth followers to aid you in the fight. Even in times like these, dark magics may be necessary."
- "When in trouble, call forth the power of the Bloodcowl's vampires. Let them have their revenge on one who caged them for so long."
- "With the power of the Lights of Meridia gathered, call forth their strength in time of need to use its power to abolish your foes."
- "As you approach the final gate, embrace the shadows and your companion Faralina of the Shadow Walkers. Let her guide you through shadows to defeat any beast who stands in your way."
- "As you approach the portal, lay aside your thoughts of the past. Embrace the help of the lamia as your final push to the portal wages on."
- "In the end, as you make your final assault towards the portal, leverage the power of One-Eye who now holds the power of the crown."
