Quest-Related Events[edit]
Vows and Oaths[edit]
Blessing the Handfast[edit]
When you approach before accepting the related quest you can overhear Chief-of-Chiefs Cannear berating the gathered Eagleseers and Six-Fords. If you speak to Evroch before speaking to the Chief-of-Chiefs he'll say:
- "The chief-of-chiefs wants to talk to you, not me."
Once you've agreed to help Chief-of-Chiefs Cannear with resolving the handfasting matter, he'll be more talkative:
- "The chief-of-chiefs is crafty, I'll give her that. Using an outsider to shame the Six-Fords. And us, too, I suppose.
Not the best way to start a marriage, but I've seen worse." - You seem relatively indifferent to these proceedings.
- "Chief Eagleseer is my brother. I love him and his daughter dearly, but this feud has been going on since longer than anyone can remember. Not even the vateshrans know how it started.
This attempt at a reconciliation will go exactly as the others." - Meaning?
- "When all the drama has come to an end, the Eagleseers and the Six-Fords are still going to hate each other. Nothing will change that.
As for my niece, she won't do anything she doesn't want to. I'd feel sorry for Madearn—if he wasn't a Six-Ford." - Why are you so hostile toward the Six-Ford clan?
- "This isn't the time or place for such talk, outsider. Not with the chief-of-chiefs looking on."
If you speak to him again, he'll say:
- "If we must participate in this handfasting, the least you could do is hurry up and get to it. The cave lies to the north, outsider."
The Lover's Coil[edit]
Return to the gathering at the ring and Vateshran Barth will be retelling the tale of the Lover's Coil. Speak to Evroch before speaking to the Chief-of-Chiefs and he'll remark:
- "If I knew we were to wait here this long, I'd have brought more provisions with me."
Speaking to the Chief-of-Chiefs, you have to decide to convince Eslyn and Madearn to go along with the handfasting or help the couple find another way.
Go through with the handfasting[edit]
- "Just when things were starting to get interesting between you and the chief-of-chiefs, you calmed her down. Whatever it is you're up to, outsider, remember the Eagleseers are watching."
After the handfasting is complete:
- "Hmm. So Eslyn did allow herself to be saddled with the Six-Ford lad. They both look happier about it than I would have expected."
Madearn changes his mind[edit]
After Madearn's revelation:
- "Mighty big bollocks on that Six-Ford lad, courting under his father's nose. Almost makes me respect him. Almost."
Find another way[edit]
- "Well, that was interesting. I'm not sure what's happening, but at least it's different."
Once you've spoken to Eslyn and Madearn, return to the circle the chiefs will walk off in disgust. After the quest, you can find Evroch with his chief outside the ruins:
- "I'm bound to follow my chief, so I followed when he left. But … I keep thinking of the vateshran's story. I wonder why the elders won't share it with the rest of the clan?"
