Abelazar

Abelazar is a powerful Redguard mage member of the Scaled Court who infiltrated Rahni'Za under the orders of the Celestial Serpent.

He passed through all the trials with flying colors, being the best many of the masters had ever seen, though it was all a trick done through magic as a means to betray the school, killing Master Timen and enslaving the rest of the Sword-Disciples as thralls.

Abelazar can be found in the deepest section of the school, known as the Trial of the True Path, accompanied by two giant snakes, in front of an audience of Trapped Souls.

Skills and Abilities

Abelazar uses every abilities from the chillfiend and fear mage classes, with one extra mechanic involved during the fight.

Ice Arrow

A basic ranged attack that does minor frost damage.

Aspect of Terror

The enemy casts a spell that fears the player for a short time, temporarily preventing them from moving or performing any actions. This effect passes through block, but players can break free from it. This spell can be avoided using roll dodge or interrupted by knocking the enemy off balance.

Shadow Cloak

If the target is in close proximity to the Fear Mage, they will turn themselves invisible and move to a better location.

Summon Ice Barrier

The enemy summons an Ice Barrier that absorbs projectiles fired at it until destroyed. The player should move so that there is a clear line of sight between themselves and the enemy.

Winter's Reach

The enemy releases an icy whirlwind in the direction it is facing. This whirlwind does moderate frost damage and roots all players that it hits. Root effect passes through block, and can be escaped by roll dodging. This attack can be interrupted or simply avoided.

Void

The enemy summons a purple orb from the sky that explodes when it hits the ground splitting into three projectiles dealing moderate magic damage. This skill then sends out magic AoEs across the floor called Void Bursts. This attack can be interrupted or simply avoided.

Void Burst

These AoEs are released after Void lands, the smaller AoEs deal moderate magic damage.

Shroud of Darkness

Upon reaching 50% health, Abelazar shrouds the arena in the same lethal darkness that was present on the path to reach him. However, the Guardian of the True Path will once again appear to provide you shelter. Otherwise, standing in the darkness deals massive continuous magical damage.

Dialogue

When you enter the chamber Abelazar is in, he can be seen addressing the trapped souls:

Abelazar: "Forget your former lives. Embrace the power that we give you. Students no more, you are members of the glorious Scaled Court!"

Abelazar: "Soon your powers will belong to the Serpent. He will use you to bring about his glorious reign."

Entering combat:

"You can't defeat me. I am a servant of the Scaled Court, herald of the Celestial Serpent! This school belongs to him!"

During combat:

"Even now, there are those who dare to challenge me. Those who would set you free. Do not believe their lies. Theirs is a false freedom. The only true freedom lies in service to the Serpent!"

"The Scaled Court claims this place. Do not resist. You will become thralls, just like the Sword-Disciples."

Group party is wiped:

"The end of the world is unavoidable. Chaos is inevitable. The Serpent wills it so."

Towards the end of the fight, the black mist reappears:

Guardian of the True Path: "Rahni'za will no longer stand for this corruption. The school will protect those true to its cause!"

Abelazar: "What? The mist? This should not be possible!"
