Oblivion talk:Resist Disease
Over 100% Resistance is not 100% Resistance?[edit]
My character is a vampire using Kiyoshi's vampirism mod, so I have an inherent 100% Disease Resistance. And for the duration I had 100% I never contracted a disease no big suprise. Recently, I acquired the ring of sunfire, which gives an extra 35% disease resistance bringing my total to 135%
However since I got the ring of sunfire I have actually contracted no less than 3 diseases - Swamp Rot, some random disease from a Zombie, and Porphyic Hemophilia no less (A vampire catching Porphyric hemophilia? lol!). Has anyone else experienced this? - it seems to be that over 100% resistance the calculations can get awry or something.
All incidents the disease was contracted through close combat, and saw it happen (as opposed to a scripted emchanism)
- I don't know how Kiyoshi's mod works, but I'd suggest contacting them about it, as this behavior is almost certainly related to the mod. (Contracting Porphyric Hemophilia as a vampire should of course be impossible under normal circumstances.) We don't document 3rd-party mods on this site, so this isn't really the place for this sort of inquiry. --TheRealLurlock Talk 00:58, 27 July 2007 (EDT)

- I have two characters with at least 100% Resist Disease (A dark elf with 100% vampirism and a high elf wearing the Ring of Vitality) and both of them have caught diseases. My vampire caught porphyric hemophilia (I got a chuckle out of it as well) and my high elf caught Tunnel Cough from a Khajiit in Sundercliff Mines in the Mehrunes' Razor plugin. I'm playing on the 360 with only the official plugins (obviously), so it looks to me like this effect is broken.Xeagle51 19:10, 17 September 2007 (EDT)

- It's already been reported that vampires can still catch diseases, even with the 100% built-in resistance. What I am seeing in common though for ALL the diseases, is that diseases which have the "Auto Calculate" check box selected seem to be able to bypass 100% resistance to disease. I've seen claims that characters with 100% resistance to disease have caught Porphyric hemophilia, Astral Vapors and now Tunnel Cough. All of those diseases seem to have the Auto-Calc option enabled. If this pattern is correct, the other diseases that could be caught regardless of 100% resistance are Scalon Fever, Scalon Blight, Scalon Sunburn and Elyra Hatchling Disease. (All from the SI expansion.--Saruuk 19:26, 17 September 2007 (EDT)

- I currently run no mods that should affect diseases (faster spells, adrenaline, auto harvest etc.), yet as a vampire, both with and without the Ring of Sunfire my Breton mage has caught Yellow Tick and Hell Joint. Each disease was caught seperately, from the appropriate animal (Brown Bears and Timber Wolves), and each has been caught both with and without the ring equiped (I spar with animals because they don't block attacks and stagger me). However, despite extensive fights with Beggars, Vampires, Dread Zombies, Headless Zombies, Rats, Mudcrabs, and Mountain Lions, I have caught no other diseases, not even Astral Vapors or Porphyric Hemophilia. I'm just throwing this out here for posterity. 24.96.234.29 13:50, 1 July 2009 (UTC)

- On the XBox 360 version, I have entered a necromancer cave, with the Ring of Vitality equiped (without a doubt) and I caught "Shakes" from a rat while fighting a Lich. Immediately upon contracting the disease, I checked my "Current Effects" page, and sure enough, I had "Shakes" and the 100% resist disease from the Ring of Vitality. I was, and am, a Breton (Mage sign) and had exactly 100% resistance. Unless "Shakes" is unique, this might occur with any disease. I am on the 360, so the only mods are official plug-ins and updates. - Hi, I wish i could direct you with a link, but I've read somewhere in the diseases section on this site that resist disease is broken. One individual reported having caught disease with 175 points of resistance.91.15.151.194 07:57, 21 April 2011 (UTC)
