In the Imperial City Palace District |
The Order Manor is a large building located in the Imperial City Palace District, between the Elven Gardens and Talos Plaza gates, that belongs to the Order of the Dragon. It has two separate entrances, and a gate between them leading to a small courtyard.
Quests Starting Here[edit]
- Behind the Door: See where the handle in Irena's chest goes.
- Hidden Paths: Track down the assassin who entered the Order Manor.
- Hidden Room: Find a hidden room in the Order Manor.
- Irena the Cook: Gather ingredients for Irena.
- Mulbar's Chest: Find a chest a thief hid in the Order Manor.
- The Secret Passage: Investigate a secret door in the Order Manor.
Order Manor, Armory[edit]
This is a long, narrow room whose entrance is hidden behind a secret door in the Training Room. As the name suggests, the walls are lined with weapons racks, many of which have actual weapons on them - silver and steel claymores, iron and steel bows, a chest with chainmail armor, and a full set of Dragon Knight Armor on a table at the far end.
Order Manor, Champion's Practice Room[edit]
This room is located deep underground. The door opens into an antechamber, in which the Dragon Paladin Shield sits on a pedestal. A gate leads to a second, larger room with three teleporters. These are used when you wish to summon creatures to spar with.
Order Manor, Forgotten Room[edit]
This area is only accessible through a hidden trap door in the basement of the Sleeping Area (you can find it by walking around in the room; you'll find something dripping from the ceiling. If you pull the board down, it'll reveal a ladder leading down to the door). It's a small natural cavern; one end has been turned into a chamber which holds a stool and table with various items and a copy of The Sword Prophecy. The Dragon Paladin Greaves sit in an alcove here, hidden by thick cobwebs.
Order Manor, Hidden Room[edit]
The "room" is actually a small dungeon complex, accessed via a secret passage in the Sleeping Area (and you'll need the handle from Irena's chest to open the door); it is uninhabited except for a monstrous spider that guards a coffin full of items. A door at the far end of the complex leads to the Forgotten Treasure Chamber, a lost room with display cases (all but one of which are empty; the last holds Jo'Basha's Sly Finger). A secret door in an alcove in the opposite wall of this room leads to a secondary chamber with various items - chests, gems, potions, and a couple sacks.
Order Manor, Kitchen[edit]
The manor's kitchen is a small, high-ceilinged room crammed with a table, shelves and barrels holding various foodstuffs, and a small rabbit pen. A fireplace on one wall provides heat and fire for cooking. Irena the cook spends most of her time here preparing meals.
Order Manor, Knights' Tower[edit]
This tower is accessible via a ladder from the outside, or from a stairway in the Training Room. It is two stories tall; the lower floor is a dining area with a large round table, and the upper floor is a single bedroom with a bed, fireplace, bookshelf, and small table that serves as a desk. This area is intended for your use.
Order Manor, Map Room[edit]
This is a small room located in the depths of the manor, The room is lined with weapon and shield racks; a small table and map of Cyrodiil sit in the middle. The bookcase opposite the entrance conceals a stairway leading down to the Champion's Practice Room.
Order Manor, Offical Reception Hall[edit]
This place is, as the name suggests, the main hall where guests are received. A sunken path lined with a carpet leads from the door to a throne on a low dais. A set of stairs leads up to a door leading to the gallery in the Training Room. A secret door behind the throne (activated by a switch on the right-hand brazier beside the throne) opens onto a hallway leading to the sewers. Another secret door in the corner below the stairs (activated by a triple-candle holder around the corner) leads to the Secret Path. A third located beside the throne (activated by the deer head on the wall nearby) leads to a small hidden room with a skeleton, a scroll, and the Dragon Paladin Cuirass. A book on a podium near the window has options for upgrading various parts of the manor.
Order Manor, Secret Path[edit]
This is a hidden area below the manor, partially Ayleid architecture and partially natural caverns, inhabited by goblins. There's only a single path through, which leads to a hidden area behind the manor where Ilkgel the goblin lives (see The Secret Passage).
Order Manor, Sleeping Area[edit]
This area serves as the barracks for the rank-and-file Dragon Order knights; it has five beds, a small dining area with a table and shelves for dishes, and various crates and barrels tucked into the spare space. The main entrance leads to the Training Area, and a stairway behind a gate leads down to the basement, which is mostly used for storage; a hidden trap door down here leads to the Forgotten Room. A secret door in the alcove with the two beds (opened by a triple-candle holder) leads down to the Sewers beneath the manor (see Unsuspected Depths); another door in the stairwell leads to the Hidden Room. A second secret door (activated by a false book on the bookcase) leads to a hidden room used as an alchemy lab. A painting beside the bookcase (activated by a false book) slides down to reveal a hidden space that holds the Dragon Paladin Gauntlets.
Order Manor, Training Hall[edit]
One of the exterior doors leads straight to this area, which is a large hall dedicated to the Knights' training. A raised wooden area for practice takes up most of the room; a gallery on the second floor for spectators runs around all four sides. A niche on the upper floor, partially hidden by a pair of bookcases, holds a small shrine; a lever on the back of the altar opens part of the floor below, which reveals a set of stairs leading down to a pedestal with the Dragon Paladin Helm. A secret door on the lower floor (this one activated by a false book on the bottom shelf of the right-hand bookcase) leads downstairs to the Armory. An arch on the lower floor opens into a short hallway with two doors to the Kitchen and Sleeping Room. Two doors on the upper floor lead to the Knights' Tower and Official Reception Hall, and a gate leads up to the Knights' Sleeping Area.
Sewers, Under the Order of the Dragon[edit]
This area is accessible only from a secret passage in the Reception Hall. The sewers are vast and partially submerged, but empty of life and lacking much of interest, beyond access to The Old Way.
The Old Way[edit]
This is a series of Ayleid ruins below the Order Manor (part of the larger ruins that run below the entire Palace District). There are two separate entrances from the manor, both of which go to different areas. The first is accessible from the sewers; it consists of a large room connected to a natural (flooded) tunnel; if you swim down the tunnel, you'll come to a manmade shaft. Swim up the shaft, and you'll eventually reach the surface in a vault where someone used to camp out. There isn't much here, beyond a note written by someone named Mulbar who talks about a chest hidden somewhere in the Manor.
The second entrance isn't available until the quest Hidden Paths; a secret wall in the Training Hall disappears, revealing a hidden door that leads to the sewers and, further down, another part of the Ayleid ruins. Again, there's nothing down here but a monstrous rat.
