[The journal is littered with water spots. On the back cover you read the following:]

I purchased this journal from a traveling merchant. I was hoping for more of it, but unfortunately only a few pages are still readable. And again, I have dropped two hundred gold coins into the sand without result. By Mephala, I have to overcome this shopping mania eventually!

... quicksand to his neck! That damned s'wit will wish he had never been born. Ned will take the whole rundown clan.

I have made the raid of my life and what do I have to show for it? Nothing! I'm lucky to see such a stupid N'wah wander through the sand, if only once. The damn bastard fried in his gleaming armor like a glyptodon egg.

He was already half-dead and packed with more treasures than the high priest of Kathar. Only a nudge and he fell motionless in the hot dust. Most of what he had in mind was plunder of gold. Pretty, but no longer. The s'wit hadn't swallowed a drop of water. It was hard to imagine how he had managed until then. But a shield he wore! By Mephala, I have encountered nothing so far that has such great magical power. No idea where a dud like that found a treasure like it.

But what use is it to me now? The blasted shield is gone. Those dirty s'wits have it. I - Bragil - robbed by a few club-swinging headhunters. For laughs! They have beaten me green and blue.

But I'll get the damn thing back. The knight's shield will soon belong to me!

For now, I will return to my shelter on the west coast. There I will lick my wounds and come up with a plan as to how I can recover my shield from the headhunters again.
