Ranyu

Ranyu is a Dremora torturer found in The Forbidden Grotto of Mankar Camoran's Paradise. He works under Orthe and will attack you on sight.

He constantly patrols Orthe's section of the cave, and will attack Eldamil along with his fellow Dremora when he causes a distraction for you.

Ranyu wears a near complete set of Dremora Kynreeve Armor, minus the helm and gauntlets. He wields a Dremora Longsword in combat. He also carries a leveled stealth potion, which may be a poison instead. As a Dremora, Ranyu possesses the relevant Resist Magic ability, which is leveled up to Valkynaz level (50%, always best for his level).

He also knows 1 Leveled Destruction spell, 1 Leveled Alteration spell, and 1 Apprentice Destruction spell. He also knows a major Summon spell, but is unable to cast it due to a bug.

Bugs

• Ranyu has something of a mismatch between his skills and spells. Based on his leveled spell list, it's likely he was intended to be a Dremora Mage rather than a regular Dremora. As a result of his current class he does not have Conjuration as a major skill. Due to this and the NPC skill leveling mechanism, he will only ever be able to cast Novice-level Conjuration spells. However, the Conjuration spells in his list are of at least Apprentice level, meaning he will never be able to cast any. In addition, due to his current class he will also only be able to cast Alteration spells up to Expert level, rather than Master level.
• Ranyu does not drop a Daedra heart upon death.
  • The Unofficial Oblivion Patch, version 3.4.0, fixes this bug.
