The Imperial Prison Sewer

Imperial Prison Sewer is the sewer system northeast of the Imperial City you access to kill Valen Dreth. This location before the quest is at Imperial Prison Sewer (Tutorial). It contains six zones: Sewers, Sewers (#2), Sewers (#3), The Sanctum, Imperial Subterrane, and Imperial Prison

Related Quests[edit]

Notes[edit]

  • Prior to the related quest, you cannot gain access into the sewers. Trying to do so results in the following message appearing:
A sign on the door reads, "No entry on pain of death."
- Sealed by authority of Commander Adamus Phillida, Imperial Legion.
  • During the quest 'Scheduled for Execution', in the northwest part of The Sanctum, the assassin who killed Uriel Septim at the start of the game can be found lying on a table, along with his robes nearby, even if you removed them.

Exterior[edit]

  • The exterior is located on the shore of Lake Rumare, at coordinates: Tamriel (11, 20)
  • This location's map marker (M on map) is named Imperial Prison Sewer (editor name ICPrisonSewerMapMarker). The entrance door is NE of the marker, 1 foot away.
  • 1-2 Mudcrabs are near the entrance
  • 1 Slaughterfish is near the entrance
  • 1 Nirnroot is at location N on map
  • The following plants can be found near the entrance: 3 Clouded Funnel Caps, 2 Green Stain Cups

Zone 1: Sewers[edit]

Sewers

Straight in front of you when entering is a room with two animals. Head instead through the northwestern corridor, and after dispatching another animal you will arrive in the final room. There is a small stone path leading to door A, while the rest is filled with water containing three slaughterfish.

Zone 2: Sewers[edit]

Sewer #2

After entering from door A, loot the chests in the first room and then make your way to the southeast, battling past two animals. After passing through two more rectangular rooms with two animals each, you will arrive in the final room. After dispatching two more animals, use the nearby Turn Wheel (cyan dot on map) to open the sewer grate at C. This gives you access to another minor loot chest. Once you're done, enter the third zone via door B.

Zone 3: Sewers[edit]

Sewer #3

After entering from door B, you will find yourself in a large circular room filled with water and crossed by a narrow stone path. In the water are two slaughterfish. Press on and you will find yourself in a rectangular room with two animals and a minor loot chest. Another chest can be found in a room just to the north, while another animal lurks in a room to the northeast which can be accessed by opening the door at C via the nearby Turn Wheel (cyan dot on map). Once you're done, head southwest, dispatch two more enemies and then use door D to access the next zone.

Zone 4: The Sanctum[edit]

The Sanctum

When you enter from door D you will be in a dark corridor. Just beyond is a room where two Imperial Prison Guards are having a conversation. Let them finish and they will move respectively to a small room to the southwest and to the main room in the center of the zone. There is also a minor loot chest in this room.

A small room to the far south hosts Captain Gepard Montrose (sat a table facing a wall), a minor loot chest, a Silver Shortsword and Legion Shield (at C) and a table with a dead Mythic Dawn Agent. You can access this room either through a hole in the wall from the southwestern room or by opening an unlocked iron gate from the central room, with the latter being easier if you're aiming to remain unnoticed. Make use of the shadows in the central room if you prefer to pass unseen and proceed to door E.

Zone 5: Imperial Subterrane[edit]

Imperial Subterrane
Guards patrol the subterrane

Upon entering from door E, loot the chest nearby and then use the areas of shadow in the room to avoid the patrolling Imperial Prison Guard carrying a torch and move into the next room, where you will find a Silver Dagger and a Legion Helmet on a table. Climb up to the next room, where if your Acrobatics is high enough you will be able to jump up to a raised area to the south and access another minor loot chest. Use door F to enter the final zone.

Zone 6: Imperial Prison[edit]

Imperial Prison

Make your way back towards your old cell after entering from door F and pause once you get there. Valen Dreth is having a sarcastic conversation with an Imperial Prison Guard, who will leave shortly after it is finished. Valen is still in the cell in front of you, behind a locked cell door (G). You can either pick the Hard lock yourself, or use the key which can be found atop the table at k. Also on the table is the Imperial Prison Key which opens the door to The Bastion (Out).
