Darkness M magnitude in F feet for D seconds
Darkness repels an amount of light from the caster or target's character model equal to the effect's magnitude. At 100% magnitude, the caster or target visually appears to be entirely solid black (though some character parts, such as Argonians' fins, are unaffected).
The effect was cut during development and is labelled in the Construction Set "DO NOT USE". It appears the intention may have been for the effect to act as a sneaking aid, as NPC detection of the player is affected by light level. The effect appears to be unfinished, as it lacks visual effects and sounds for casting it, and is oddly classed as an Offensive effect. Although a Darkness icon exists in the game's files, it's not actually assigned to the effect.
Darkness received a new icon in Oblivion Remastered, despite the effect itself still going unused. In this release, Darkness has no visual effects at all.
