Velanda Omani

Velanda Omani is a Dark Elf noble and Councilman for House Hlaalu, who can be found at her manor in the Ascadian Isles. You will need her support in order to become the Hlaalu Hortator, but you won't get it unless you deal with Orvas Dren first, as she tends to follow his lead most of the time. She clearly has no qualms about engaging in criminal activities, as evidenced by her role in attempting to steal Indrele Rathryon's land by means of a forged land deed.

Also, Velanda is interested in finding out the location of the lost Vassir-Didanat Ebony Mine, the discovery of which she will reward with 2000 septims if you choose to reveal the location of the mine to her alone.

She wears an exquisite shirt with a matching skirt, shoes, two rings, and amulet. Furthermore, she wields a glass dagger and she carries a key to her manor, a random gem, and up to 400 drakes. In addition to her natural resistance to fire and the sanctuary provided by her ancestors, she knows the following spells: Enrichment, Great Heal Companion, Rest of St. Merris, Vigor and Resist Fire.

Dialogue[edit]

Quest-Related Events[edit]

Land Deed[edit]

Even though this is not a required part of the quest (and, in fact, choosing to interact with Velanda causes more harm than good in this case), it is possible to discuss the forged land deed with her:

  • forged land deed
    • "I believe you have something that belongs to me. If you give it back to me and leave quietly, I will forget this ever happened."
    • Give her the land deed
      • [Deed to Indrele's House has been removed from your inventory.] "Good. Now leave and I'll forget about this."
    • Keep the land deed
      • [If Disposition ≥ 15, then Disposition -10.] "So be it. Leave before I lose my temper."

If you pickpocket the land deed off her after giving it to her, and then once again mention it to her, she says:

  • forged land deed
    • [If Disposition ≥ 15, then Disposition -10.] "I don't know how you got that back, but you won't get away with this."

If you mention the deed to her after you have completed this quest, she will be rather displeased with you:

  • forged land deed
    • "You ruined my plans, %PCName."

And finally, if you mention the deed to her while you have it in your possession and while being the Grandmaster of House Hlaalu, she will try and shift the blame onto one of her employees:

  • forged land deed
    • "Oh, that? I had nothing to do with that, believe me! That was one of my retainers. When I found out what he planned, I sent him back to the mainland."

Hlaalu Hortator[edit]

In order to become the Hortator of House Hlaalu, you will have to obtain Velanda Omani's support:

  • Hlaalu Hortator
    • "That's a title given to a war leader among the Great Houses. Why are you interested?"
    • Ash how a Hortator is chosen.
      • "A Hortator is a champion chosen in times of war. A Hortator's duty is to lead and inspire the Great Houses against its foes. Only a Great House's councilors can vote for a Hortator, and the vote must be unanimous."
    • Tell your story and ask to be confirmed as Hortator.
      • [If you are a member of House Hlaalu or if Disposition ≥ 80.] "That is a very interesting story you tell. And the Moon-and-Star is an impressive ring. I believe your story and credentials are genuine. But I will tell you frankly that I would never confirm you as Hortator without the approval of Orvas Dren. I depend on his patronage, and would not risk his displeasure."
      • [Else.] "That is a very interesting story you tell. And your Moon-and-Star is an impressive ring. Unfortunately I'm very busy at present. I will need to consult with my colleagues, but I'll give the matter every consideration [sic]"

Clearly, you have to deal with Orvas Dren in order to get Velanda Omani's vote. If you persuade Dren to support you (either in this quest or in the quest Dealing with Orvas Dren), she lends you her support:

  • "Yes, of course %PCName, whatever you want."
  • Hlaalu Hortator
    • "Yes. Of course. You wished to be named Hortator of House Hlaalu? No sooner said than done. You will, of course, need to receive confirmation from the other Hlaalu councilors. But I have every confidence in your ability to persuade them. Once all the councilors agree, speak with Crassius Curio again. He will give you the Belt of the Hortator."

And similarly, if you kill Orvas Dren, she will seemingly be too intimidated by you to continue hindering you (note that in this case, she continues to use her default greeting instead of the one directly above):

  • Hlaalu Hortator
    • "Yes, %PCName. I've just heard of Orvas Dren's unfortunate death. As for your request to be named Hortator of House Hlaalu... I believe there'll be no further delays. You have my vote, and I'm sure you'll be able to persuade the other councilors as well. Once all the councilors agree, speak with Crassius Curio again. He will give you the Belt of the Hortator."

If you mention the topic again after she has confirmed you as Hlaalu Hortator, she says:

  • Hlaalu Hortator
    • "I have named you Hortator. Isn't that enough?"

And if you do so again after all the other councilors have cast their vote for you as well, she says:

  • Hlaalu Hortator
    • "The members of the Hlaalu Council agree. You are Hortator of House Hlaalu. You need only speak with Crassius Curio again to confirm your new title."

After you have received the Belt of the Hortator from Crassius Curio, she has the following to say:

  • "Whatever you need, Hortator."
  • Hlaalu Hortator
    • "You are the Hortator of House Hlaalu, %PCName."

Unfortunately, if you kill Crassius Curio, Dram Bero or Nevena Ules, she will under no circumstances agree to confirm you as Hlaalu Hortator:

  • Hlaalu Hortator
    • [If Curio, Bero or Ules is dead.] "I'm very concerned about what I've heard about you. I heard you were involved in the death of a Hlaalu councilor. You want me to name you Hortator of our house, but under these unfortunate circumstances, I see no chance of that."

Vassir-Didanat Ebony Mine[edit]

Velanda Omani is one of the three Hlaalu councilors with whom you can share the location of the Vassir-Didanat ebony mine:

  • Vassir Didanat Mine
    • "Vassir-Didanat? It used to be a famous ebony mine, but its location has been lost. It is on record that I will pay anyone 2000 drakes for information about Vassir-Didanat."
    • Tell the location of Vassir-Didanat.
      • [2000 Gold has been added to your inventory.] "So you've been there? And there is still ebony there? I will have someone investigate right away to confirm your story, but I trust you. Take these 2000 drakes with my gratitude."
    • Nevermind.
      • "Of course."

Mentioning the mine again after you tell her about its location prompts her to say:

  • Vassir Didanat Mine
    • "Yes, you've made me quite happy telling me about Vassir-Didanat. It used to be one of the most productive mines in Vvardenfell, and it is much easier to reach than the mines nearer to Red Mountain."

Alternatively, if you choose to tell one of her peers about the mine and subsequently mention it to her, she will express her disappointment with your decision:

  • Vassir Didanat Mine
    • [If you told Dram Bero about the mine.] "Yes, I heard. I only wish you allowed me to make a similar offer before you told Dram Bero."
    • [If you told Nevena Ules about the mine.] "Yes, I heard. I only wish you allowed me to make a similar offer before you told Nevena Ules. She can't be trusted."
