Only in the Daggerfall game[edit]

I believe Daggerfall is the only TES game in which you visit this realm — Unsigned comment by 74.170.17.64 (talk) on 23 January 2010

Greek Culture[edit]

The prefix to Aetherius is Aether. Aether is what the Greeks believed to be the upper sky or Heaven, in any case something beyond space. I just was thinking this when I saw my physics teacher today and I think it is relevant enough for obvious reasons, to be mentioned somewhere.--Corevette789 16:09, 2 August 2010 (UTC)

:p ... I think I already mentioned that, albiet unprofessionally, a long time ago... but go ahead. (But the same thing could be said of many things, like the Minotaur, Talos, Sirens, Tiber, the Imperial Legion, etc.) --Arch-Mage MattTalk 17:28, 2 August 2010 (UTC)

Anu[edit]

Isn't it true that Aetherius is the part of the Aurbis that is closer to Anu? Click--TheLastSwordSinger 18:59, 3 May 2011 (UTC)

That's fanfic, not official lore. The Pocket Guide to the Empire isn't so clear. rpeh •TCE 19:42, 3 May 2011 (UTC)
Really, then does the same go for the Nu-mantia Intercept?--TheLastSwordSinger 19:57, 3 May 2011 (UTC)
The Nu-mantia intercept was written by a Bethesda source (I know he's not always employed by them, but let's not go there again). It can be used but must be marked using the {{OOG}} template to make it clear that it's not necessarily "official". rpeh •TCE 20:04, 3 May 2011 (UTC)
If you want to read the huge, acrimonious history to this topic, go here, but it's probably easier to just read this, where the compromise was finally reached. Although even that's out of date, because we can now do partitioned references (like here) rpeh •TCE 20:09, 3 May 2011 (UTC)
Thank you, I think I've read it before though--TheLastSwordSinger 20:13, 3 May 2011 (UTC)

Sovngarde[edit]

Should Lore:Sovngarde really redirect here? I think it deserves its own page, but dare not create it without asking first. Kerrick 04:19, 15 December 2011 (UTC)

It does need its own page. No one has gotten around to yet to my knowledge, though it's possible someone is drafting an article. Minor Edits 09:02, 26 December 2011 (UTC)
Are there any sources at all saying Sovngarde is in Aetherius? The only citation is Sovngarde: a Reexamination, which does not directly say so, only that Sovngarde is the Nordic afterlife. It seems like someone presumed that because Aetherius is where people's souls normally go in death and Sovngarde is where valiant Nords' souls go in death, but we know that souls can go to non-Aetherial realms in death.65.182.235.190 10:17, 19 December 2012 (GMT)
Lacking any other comments on this, I am simply adding citation needed to the page where appropriate198.29.34.242 06:57, 18 January 2013 (GMT)

Aetherius[edit]

When someone dies in Aetherius (or Sovngarde), what happens to the soul? 70.225.177.54 21:43, 17 January 2012 (UTC)

Sources aren't entirely clear. Some thing/place called a "Dreamsleeve" may be involved in recycling souls. But it's also possible they enter some other realm of Aetherius, or maybe just go to the Void (non-existence, more or less). Point is, I don't think there's anything concrete to say on the matter. Minor Edits 21:50, 17 January 2012 (UTC)
Wait, but since they're in the afterlife already, shouldn't they return to Sovngarde? 70.225.177.54 02:50, 21 January 2012 (UTC)
Like I said, in-game sources aren't clear. For speculation on the matter, see the forums or the religious counselor of your choosing. Minor Edits 02:53, 21 January 2012 (UTC)

undead summoning[edit]

As far as I know, it is where undead creature are summoned from. But I am not sure. If it can be concluded shall it be added to this page? (Vvardfell 14:59, 3 April 2012 (UTC))

Out-of-Game Lore?[edit]

I saw mention of the word "Convention" in the Aetherius Lore page, and I'm bringing this up because I didn't see a link to a page detailing more about this event.

Is there already another page that mentions the Convention in more detail, or does anyone think we should add the page to the site?

It wouldn't be the first time an Out-of-Game Lore source would be used on this site to back up a newly-published page (like the "Interview with a Dunmer" page).

Perhaps more Out-of-Game Lore (from the Imperial Library) should be posted as articles & sourced in the days to come? WintersetAltmer (talk) 15:32, 2 March 2014 (GMT)

The UESP has taken the stance that articles based purely on OOG sources are not wanted. Bethesda are the first source for official material, and OOG sources are used to help explain some concepts in cases where a lack of official information is absent or lacking. The UESP also respects what TIL does, and does not want to compete with them as a knowledge base for non-official writings. Interview with a Dark Elf was an officially approved 'interview' in order to develop some lore aspects that might otherwise have been unclear, and also to develop interest in Morrowind before its release. All this being said, if we're going to use the word Convention in this article, we should either explain it or link to somewhere on TIL that does. Silence is GoldenBreak the Silence 15:41, 2 March 2014 (GMT)
Lore:Dawn_Era#Convention should be sufficient for the moment, if we want a link. Minor EditsThreatsEvidence 17:08, 2 March 2014 (GMT)

Travel to Aetherius, adds Sovngarde's example[edit]

Lore-wise, we are note sure if Sovngarde is a part of Aetherius. Should we add King's Arrow's and Last Dragonborn's respective journey to Sovngarde as examples of travelling to Aetherius? — Unsigned comment by 202.80.214.67 (talk) at 01:57 on 18 September 2023 (UTC)

Whether Sovngarde is part of Aetherius or not, that information is Sovngarde-specific and would be better placed on Lore:Sovngarde. —Legoless (talk) 09:23, 18 September 2023 (UTC)
