Lore:Rod of Kravari
The Rod of Kravari, also known as Quintus' Exploding Staff, was a fire staff artifact of some renown.[1][2]
Little is known about the history of the Rod of Kravari, but it was in Quintus Verres' possession for some time before 2E 582, as he mentioned using it prior to that year. In 2E 582, he wielded it during his expedition in Hammerfell. It was used by Verres during his expedition to uncover the Guardian's Eye in the ruins of Volenfell. While wielding the staff, Quintus was able to command flames—far more than he anticipated, instill fear, and awaken gargoyles. It is unclear whether this was due to the staff's inherent power or his own magical abilities, but Quintus mentioned struggling to control the overwhelming fire and force it unleashed. The staff did not grant Quintus the ability to command the gargoyles; in fact, he perished shortly after awakening one, which crushed him while he was engaged in a battle against a rival archaeologist, his ex-wife Tharayya, and her Undaunted bodyguards.[1][3][4]
