Orpheon the Tactician was an arcanist warlord and Emperor of Cyrodiil during the Interregnum. Little is known of Orpheon's early life, but some sources suggest he had Dragonborn blood in his lineage[1]. During the Three Banners War, he led his army of loyalists and gryphons handled by their trainer, Noriwen, in a march from Cropsford to Bruma and led a siege to the city[2], aided by his siegemaster Malthoras. After the city sued for parley, Orpheon and his other ally, Ajim-Rei took control of the city. Such campaign would be regarded by some, such as Lewin Frey, the one who chronicled such siege, as the start of Orpheon's reign. Eventually he would conquer the Heartlands and sit the Ruby Throne, crowning himself Emperor.

At some point, after losing control of the throne, Orpheon left Cyrodiil with his army and led a siege to the island of Lep Seclusa in order to acquire an Elder Scroll which he believed contained a prophecy that could end the Three Banners War and legitimize his rule on Cyrodiil. His efforts would be eventually be undermined by the Undaunted, who defeated his army and, eventually, killed him just a few steps away from the Elder Scroll.[3]
