Lore:Mnemo-Li

—Mankar Camoran[2]
Mnemo-Li (or Mnemoli the Blue Star)[3] also known as the Reclusive Princess,[4] is a star, the most well-known Magna Ge and a daughter of Magnus. She is associated with "un-time" events, and it is said that she was visible even in the daytime sky during the Dragon Break.[3][2] Similarly to other Magna Ge she is now synonymous with the star, which she created.[3][5] She was one of the Star-Orphans of the Nine Coruscations, who followed the parabolas that led away from Magnus. The remaining eight, her sisters were named Merid-Nunda, Sheza-Rana, Iana-Lor, Xero-Lyg, the eldest Prime Archon, Londa-Vera, Unala-Se, and Valia-Sha.[3][4]
Mnemoli's origins go beyond her relation to Magnus. Indeed, Mnemoli was retroactively constructed by Sotha Sil who personally gave birth to his cosmic daughter, naming her Memory.[4][6][UOL 1] Memory served as the legacy of Sotha Sil and survived him following his death at the hands of Almalexia.[UOL 1] She was a subject of study by various scholars. Arch-Prelate of the Alessian Order Fervidius Tharn researched Mnemo-Li at some point during the First Era and mentioned her in On the Detachment of the Sheath. Through the intervention of Mnemoli and a particular manipulation, called the "Hurling Disk", of the identity between the circle of the Aurbis and the Tower, the Arch-Prelate apparently believed that it would be possible to detach a sheath from the Aurbis' integument and "twist" it to provoke the Dragon Break of the Middle Dawn.[1]
Sarshaar, a Senche-raht Khajiiti Whispering Claw monk of the Second Era and loyalist of Queen Khamira of Anequina was another of the known scholars devoted to the research of Mnemoli.[7]
Mankar Camoran of the Third Era mentioned Mnemoli in his Commentaries on the Mysterium Xarxes, where she is said to "run blue, through noise, and shine only when the earth trembles with the eruption of the newly-mantled." He claimed that in order to ward against them one should invoke: "Go! GHARTOK AL MNEM! God is come! NUMI MORA! NUM DALAE MNEM!" [2] According to him, Mnemoli together with other Magna Ge as a whole were responsible for creation of Mehrunes Dagon in "the bowels of Lyg".[8]
She is linked to endless possibility, rewritten narratives, including those of the Elder Scrolls, and the constant emergence of the Prisoner Unbound as is the will of the Prime Archon.[4] Mnemoli are occasionally referred to as plural.[2][UOL 2] Some texts accredit them with collecting "all the songs" made by mortals and keeping of the Elder Scrolls.[UOL 2]
Notes[edit]
- The Elder Scroll of Mnem was one of the known Elder Scrolls.[9][10] Mnem is mentioned in Mankar Camoran's Commentaries on the Mysterium Xarxes.[11]
- A large blue star sometimes seen in the skies of Tamriel is also associated with Zenithar.[12][13] It's connection to Mnemo-Li is unknown.
- Sermon Thirty-Seven mentions a female "signal blueshift". According to this source she told Vivec that "The sign of royalty is not this, There is no right lesson learned alone."[14][4]
- According to certain texts, Mnemoli is a wayward child of Anu, one of a pantheon of forgotten deities known as the 'Star Orphans', a tribe of gods and goddesses that apparently felt abandoned when they withdrew from creation. Like many of her siblings, Mnemoli is both confused and delighted with the Aurbis, and explores its five quarters as best she can without the help and regulation of worship, during breakings of the sideways wheel. She is believed to run through the Tamriel part of the Aurbis every untime. Psijiics hold her in much reverence, and many of them make pilgrimages to Morrowind when it appears because the Red Mountain there catches fire at its passing. This mountain is reputed to be one of the last refuges of the Dwemer before they departed from this world.[UOL 3]
- According to some sources the adjective 'mnemolic' refers to the Star Orphans.[UOL 4][UOL 1]
- Mnemoli is sometimes referred to as "the blessed Magna-Ge". According to some texts those born under the Signs of the Y once knew her harmony, but today their heart-strings are as conflicted as their Patterns.[UOL 5]
