Heart's Grief

Heart's Grief is Molag Bal's palace in his plane of Coldharbour, and serves both as a fortress and a temple to himself. No place is more feared in all of Coldharbour.[1] Chock full of Daedric troops and monsters of all sorts, the Prince himself resides behind its walls.[2]

Within the palace vestibule lies a number of daises and altars, where Molag Bal strings up those who have personally displeased him for all to see.[2] It is here that those who evoke his ire are tortured for his entertainment.[3] A statue to himself sits in the entryway, surrounded by burning corpses and cold fire braziers.[2] In the back of the hall lies the Path of Woe, a corridor full of mechanisms forged of cold ebon-iron that leads to his courtyard and seat of power, the Seat of Tyranny.[2]

The Path ends at the Shattered Temple, a structure that looks to be a temple reminiscent of those devoted to the Divines on Nirn.[2] Of course, this section is dilapidated, seemingly a mocking parody of the mortal worship of the Aedra.[4] The Blighted Causeway and the Broken Court follow, leading into the Garden of Ruin, where Molag Bal was famously defeated by the Vestige in 2E 582.[2][5]

Notes[edit]

  • Daedra invading the White-Gold Tower claimed that the "two Thrones" now belonged to Molag Bal and would be joined, referring to the Ruby Throne and Seat of Tyranny.[6][7]
  • While the Lightless Oubliette serves as a replica of the White-Gold Tower in Coldharbour, another tower resembling both structures exists in Heart's Grief.[2]
