Harlun's Watch is a settlement located in the Nibenay Basin to the south of Cheydinhal, in the Cheydinhal Foothills region.[1][2]

The settlement has existed as a homestead since sometime prior to 2E 582, but by the time of the Three Banners War it had been abandoned by its residents. At some point in time, freebooters from Bravil occupied its ruins before being wiped out by the Dusksabers, an elite mercenary group of vampires seeking the same Ayleid treasures as they were. A guard of Cheydinhal's Great Chapel of Arkay investigated the incident and interviewed one of the survivors before leaving for Morrowind.[3]

Sometime later, Harlun's Watch was occupied by goblins of the Bloody Hand Tribe, led by their chief known as Wither Tooth.[2] The nearby military fortification of Harlun's Outpost was located to the south of the abandoned settlement. Initially located within the territory held by the Ebonheart Pact, the outpost changed hands many times over the course of the war.[4]

Circa 3E 433, life in the village had been relatively peaceful until the villagers began to see mysterious lights coming from the nearby Swampy Cave. Some villagers went to investigate these lights, but they never returned. The local Fighters Guild were hired to investigate, and it was discovered that the villagers had been lured to the cave by will-o-the-wisps before being killed by the swamp trolls that inhabited it.[5]
