Crafting Motif 129: Hircine Bloodhunter Style
by Anaelle Vilax (Translated from wall carvings)
A guide to crafting armor and weapons in the Lucent Sentinel style

Translation by Anaelle Vilax, deciphered from carvings found on the walls of the Lucent Citdael.

Much has been lost to time. We guard but know not what or why. An ancient purpose, left to be reclaimed/remembered. Until we remember, stay resolute in the citadel. Guard the lucent crystals. Trust in the guardians. Through them our purpose may be discovered/recovered.

To abandon our purpose/geas is to abandon ourselves.

AXES

Our axes are the support beams and keystones of the citadel. They are steadfast, strong, and constant. Without these structural elements, our enemies would overrun/consume us. Incorporate mirrors into the edges of the axe head and know that if they break/diffuse, then your attack was well-struck.

/The Citadel holds us fast. Supports. Retains. Hold the citadel back. Patience. /

BELTS

There is time for ornate filigree and sweeping shows of craftsmanship, but it is not for those who watch. The citadel is grand—we are merely its guardians. Therefore, keep the belt simple with one diamond/potentiality of metal at the buckle to call attention to a lucent shard. The lucents and the citadel/remembering are of highest importance.

/Be simple in devotion. Be simple in form. Function is enough. /

BOOTS

There is no quiet to preserve/imbue in the citadel, only crystals to protect and purposes to guard. We have no care for stealth or surprise, so make all footwear as sturdy as possible. The fall of our heavy footsteps will ring through the otherwise quiet/empty/forgotten halls and reassure all who guard the citadel that there is nothing amiss/that we have been remembered.

/Protected. Encased in metal we will not fall. /

BOWS

The mirrors of the citadel allow its guardians/caretakers to see clearly and without distraction/forgetting. Affix them to all projectile weapons and reap the benefits of well-placed shots.

/Reflections lie but the glass is true. Remembrance keeps the mind clear. /

CHESTS

The citadel is strong and so are its defenders. No invader claims our lucent crystals. No invader's weapon breaches your chest armor/mind or pierces your gorget/soul. Take comfort from the mirroring of the citadel's sturdy walls on your armor and stand firm/do not forget.

/Eons of repairs shores where the sands and wind strive to breach the defenses. Secured. Purposeful. /

DAGGERS

Duel with this weapon and surprise/forget your enemy. Invaders will see its size and not its strength. Catch their blades upon the dueling shards and turn their attacks back upon them/turn them from the citadel.

/Sharp to scratch imperfect crystals. Remove the dull. Facets to trap light and edges to cut. /

GLOVES

Keep the claws radiant and sharp like the crystals/truths which cut and the mirrors which change the light to darkness. As for the elbow protection, embed [sic] a lucent to guide the flanks and shards of our mirrors to illuminate the flaws of our enemies.

/All is reflected and all is watched. /

HELMETS

Spires protect the ramparts of the mind and keep out invading forces of self-doubt/fear/forgetting. Angle horns of metal to combat the waiting dangers and trust in them. Leave only two gaps in the faceplate for vision but enshroud the rest in metal/enshroud the mind in mirrors. Nothing leaves the citadel and very little enters. Here, it is safe.

/Sight remains true. Keep shut and see the crystals clearly. /

LEG GREAVES

Take note of the scale, style and brilliance/purpose of the citadel. See the vaulting skylights and the intricate windows. Use all these things to inspire your symmetrical metalwork.

/Etch what exists and let momentum carry. /

MACES

With a dark and spiked grip, the rest of the mace shines golden and deadly. Let the sight be a reminder of the light that bursts from the cold metal of the citadel. Defend our keep/our secret from invaders and transform their pain into the energy which can be captured by our crystals.

/Dark and spiked. Golden and deadly. Empty but full and bursting with light. /

SHIELDS

Created from the broken mirrors of the ruins, our shields are as old as the citadel/as old as the secret. As the citadel guards the lucents, so will it guard you. The mirrors will not shatter, the crystals do not break. Create your shield with reverence and wear it with confidence/in memory.

/Glass can be a wall too. /

SHOULDER ARMOR

Arms are battlements, used for cover and to create advantageous attacks. The citadel's battlements are high and imposing with large spires and strong parapets. This citadel has never fallen/will never be forgotten, and it will never surrender. Why would anyone treat the crests of their limbs any differently. Guard your arms and your throat. Let nothing be taken.

/Sharpen the parapet. Blade to the throat. /

STAVES

While lucent crystals may break and mirrors will shatter, they retain their properties even still. Our staffs represent the citadel as a whole, from the sand covered splendor of the sunken ruins to the shining glory of the ramparts. Through the staff, the citadel defends itself/through the staff, the citadel reaches beyond.

/Sharp but not meant for cutting. /

SWORDS

Inspired by the grand mirror of opposition, our swords combine strength with beauty/fragility/memory. The gloom of the hilt pairs expertly with the radiance of the blade. Wield the sword with the same duality that it encompasses, and nothing will overtake/forget you.

/A tower of metal pointed and light. Time dulls edges. Wears away at effort. /
