Chief-of-Chiefs Cannear was chief of the River-Elk Reach clan in the Second Era. In the years leading up to 2E 578, she attained the title of Chief-of-Chiefs, a position of great authority in the Reach,[1] and held it for at least four years.[2]
History[edit]
Cannear was born into the River-Elk Clan,[1] a rather large faction that settled many semi-permanent camps across the Karth Valley.[3][4] She eventually became chief, and her actions as a leader earned her the respect of many clans apart from her own. Eventually she retired from the position of the Chief of the River-Elk Clan, and later took up the mantle of the Chief-of-Chiefs: an arbiter of disputes and a peacemaker for all clans of the Reach.[1]
In 2E 582 Cannear resolved the longstanding rivalry between the Eagleseer and the Six-Ford clans. She proposed an arranged marriage, which was to take place at Hroldan Ring.[5] Complications arose when the intended couple fled before the ceremony, and it is unclear whether or not the handfasting went through. The two clans' rivalry was nevertheless extinguished upon the retrieval of the relic that caused the feud in the first place.[2]
