- Kill your adversary and collect the loot from his/her body.
Detailed Walkthrough[edit]
Taking Offense[edit]
Speak to a merchant or innkeeper, who will say one of the following:
- "Excuse me! Can't you see I'm busy you smelly (player's race). Are you looking for trouble or something?"
- "What? What did you say? I hope I didn't hear you say something. Did you say something?"
- "Well excuse me. Didn't want to get in your way you fat (player's race) pig. You want to step outside?"
- "Can't you see I'm busy! And not in a good mood I might add! If you don't leave now, there could be trouble. Is that what you want?"
Accept[edit]
The merchant or innkeeper goes on:
- "Oh ... you want to play, do you?"
- "I think we've got a live one!"
- "Well ... looks like my day just got more interesting!"
- "You really are as stupid as you look! Fine, (player's race), I'll play too."
- "So that's the way you want it! I'm game to any (player's race)!"
Decline[edit]
The merchant or innkeeper answers:
- "That's more like it, now shove off."
- "I didn't think so, go on with whatever you do."
- "Didn't think you would say yes anyway. Now begone with yourself."
Tough Talk[edit]
Unlike other quests, accepting brings up more dialogue and another chance to decline the quest:
- "This could get ugly, not as ugly as you, but I have no problem cutting your head off for such words! You want this to turn into a battle do ya?"
- "You're lookin' for a fight aren't you? Is that what you want, child?"
- "Oh ... we do have a live one ... with weapons! You want to use that on me?"
- "The two fights I got into yesterday didn't end well for the other pigs! You want to take me on, do ya?"
That Escalated Quickly[edit]
Accept again, and receive a third dialogue, with one more chance to bow out:
- "Oh, smelly one. 'Tis not your lucky day. How about a duel?"
- "Then we shall settle this like warriors. What do you say to a duel?"
- "I settle my arguments the old way. How about a duel?"
- "We'll settle this one. At least, I will! How about a duel later?"
Challenge Accepted![edit]
Agree to a duel and the quest giver will gleefully respond:
- "Excellent! Ha ha! A duel it is. But not here, pig. Six hours from now, at (inn). I'll see you there."
- "A bad decision, (player's race). The duel is on then. Meet me at (inn) in six hours. I'll be waiting!"
- "Don't push too hard. Effort like that killed a horse of mine ... and it may kill you! Meet me at (inn) and we'll settle this. Be there in six hours. I must prepare."
- "A duel it is! You'll be sorry... but you had your chance to keep walking. Meet me at (inn) in six hours and we'll settle this one."
Changing Your Mind[edit]
If you decline the second or third time, the belligerent quest giver will say:
- "I didn't think so. Now shove off."
- "That's more like it. Now leave me."
- "Now we see who you are. Goodbye."
- "Pass on by then. I don't have time to waste on you."
- "Then move along. I have a busy day ahead."
Defending You Honor[edit]
You are given a time and place for the duel; you will meet your opponent at a local tavern six hours after accepting the challenge. Head to the tavern in time and loiter there if you are too early. The merchant or innkeeper will not show up, but will instead send a henchmen, a spellcaster or warrior type, to fight you. Upon being hit, your adversary will taunt you with:
- "Then the (player's race) is not a coward as (employer's name) said you were. (He/She) paid me well to come here and cut you to pieces. And I shall. Prepare for battle!"
- "It is you! (Employer's name) said you would be here, and I always finish (his/her) fights."
- "You should watch who you mess with. (Employer's name) has many friends. Now prepare to die!"
Kill the goon and a message pops up:
- As you gaze down on your fallen adversary, you know that your honor has been satisfied.
Collect any loot you find from the body.

Questgiver's associated factions | +2 |

Enemies[edit]
- Quest Target: One Spellsword
Notes[edit]
- After slaying the challenger, the quest giver may disappear for a while, presumably to hide in shame. Fast traveling to another town and back should give him or her enough time to return.
Additional Dialogue[edit]
After you have accepted this quest, NPCs may say when asked for any news:
- "(Employer's name) has challenged some wandering (player's race) to a duel!"
If you fail the quest, NPCs may say when asked for any news:
- "Aren't you that coward (player's name)? You refused a duel, didn't you?"
- "I heard that (employer's name) challenged someone to a duel, and the sap didn't even show up!"
If you successfully complete the quest, NPCs may say when asked for any news:
- "You're the (player's race) that beat (employer's name)'s champion! Well done!"
- "I heard the (employer's name) was publically [sic] embarrassed when some wandering adventurer beat (his/her) champion. Serves (him/her) right."
If you successfully complete the quest, the quest giver may later greet you with:
- "(Oath). I had hoped never to see you again. You bested my champion in a duel, but I am an honarable [sic] person."
- "Don't hurt me! You beat my champion in a duel, isn't that enough?"
If you failed the quest, the quest giver will greet you with:
- "Hah! You didn't even bother to show up for the duel. Thought I wouldn't remember eh? Shove off, coward!"
