The spy Guthrum has holed himself up in a haunted Ayleid ruin. I must find him and get him to talk before he gets killed by the undead.

Quick Walkthrough[edit]

Detailed Walkthrough[edit]

Starting Off[edit]

Speak to Wanum to begin:

"The Queen has learned of Guthrum's treachery, and gives you her blessing to do with him as you see fit. She does suggest trying to get as much out of him as you can before you do, though."
That's if he's still alive to begin with.
"True. His egg spent too much time in the shade if he thought that was a good hiding place. Will you go after the traitor?"
You can be sure of that.
"Good. Let us know what you learned."

Ayleid Ruins[edit]

Once you begin the quest you will start in a large open Ayleid room, continue through a set of gates and through some hallways until you reach the lower level.

You will encounter three bandits patrolling in the room at the bottom of the staircase. Once dealt with, smash the pots in the room and collect any loot. Head through the gates and down the stairs and you will enter a room with a nether lich and crypt wight.

In the next room there are another two crypt wights you will have to deal with. There are two sets of doors however the one on the right is locked. Head through the left door and you will eventually enter a room with a crypt wight and lootables. The next room has a nether lich that carries the key to the locked door from before.

Guthrum[edit]

When he is rescued you will have to speak to Guthrum:

"Thank the Divines! I was afraid you were another wight. I thought I heard screams coming from here, and so I ventured north to help, but alas, it was a trap!"
You can stop now, Guthrum. I know.
"What do you mean, you know? What do you know?"
I know you're a Greencap spy!
"Wait, you don't understand, they gave me no choice! They threatened to kill me!"
You were willing, and well-paid.
"No, I...I mean...ah, damn it! I should have just stolen a boat and sailed away. What are you going to do with me?"
Depends on how you answer my questions.
"What do you want to know?"
When did you become a Greencap spy?
"About six months ago. Their leader approached me to offer me a deal. They wanted me to spy on the townsfolk so they could set up ambushes. No one would suspect the priest, right?"
What about all your lofty ideals?
"I was tired of watching everyone else have all the fine things in life...the money he offered for just a little information... I convinced myself that I deserved it... I didn't think it would go this far..."
Where is the bandit leader hiding?
"I can't tell you that! He'll kill me!"
I'll kill you right now if you don't.
"You don't understand. It's not just the Greencaps... What does it matter, I'm a dead man either way..."
I'm listening.
"Ah, to Oblivion with it! His name is Talam Sethran. You'll find him in Grimstone Cave with his most trusted fighters."

He can then be either killed or spared:

Why should I let you live?
"I told you all you wanted to know!"
All right, get out of my sight.
"Thank you! You won't regret this. I swear you'll never see my face again!"
Sorry, not good enough.
"Curse you, you miserable fool! Die!"
