Beyond Skyrim:Roscrea/The Lost Blade of Roscrea (quest)
|
Quick Walkthrough[edit]
- Find and read The Lost Blade of Roscrea
- Travel to Pilgrim's Trench and retrieve the sword
Detailed Walkthrough[edit]
While you can retrieve the sword directly, it is recommended (see Notes) that you first locate and read the book The Lost Blade of Roscrea. You can find four copies in Solitude (in the entrance and lecture room of the Bard's College, in the throne room of the Blue Palace and in the alcove just to left of the entrance of The Winking Skeever), one in Whiterun (on the counter in the The Bannered Mare) and one in Riverwood (on the counter in the Sleeping Giant Inn). The book provides you with the backstory to the sword as well as its last known location: the infamous Pilgrim's Trench.
This ship graveyard lies northwest of Winterhold and hosts four submerged ships. Your target is the large ship that is still lying in one piece on the seabed. To reach it, swim directly down from near the ice floe with a barrel and keep going through the darkness until the outline of the ship emerges. Unless you are Argonian, you will need a waterbreathing effect to be able to make the dive. Once you reach the ship, make your way into the hold and the sword will be visible at the bottom of the wooden stairs.
Notes[edit]
- If you read the book after having recovered the blade, the quest will still appear in your journal, but will be permanently unfinishable.

- The following empty quest stages were omitted from the table: 0, 5.
- Any text displayed in angle brackets (e.g.,
<Alias=LocationHold>
) is dynamically set by the Radiant Quest system, and will be filled in with the appropriate word(s) when seen in game. - Not all Journal Entries may appear in your journal; which entries appear and which entries do not depends on the manner in which the quest is done.
- Stages are not always in order of progress. This is usually the case with quests that have multiple possible outcomes or quests where certain tasks may be done in any order. Some stages may therefore repeat objectives seen in other stages.
- If an entry is marked as "Finishes Quest" it means the quest disappears from the Active Quest list, but you may still receive new entries for that quest.
- On the PC, it is possible to use the console to advance through the quest by entering
setstage quest stage
, wherequest
is the internal name of the quest, andstage
is the number of the stage you wish to complete. It is not possible to un-complete (i.e. go back) quest stages, but it is possible to clear all stages of the quest usingresetquest quest
