Respawning waves?[edit]
Do the goblin waves respawn? I know the shaman and warchief dont but do the goblins they send out? — Unsigned comment by Bambobo (talk • contribs)
I beleive all goblins respawn but the Shamans (or goblin jim). I am unsure about War Chieftain but all others for sure respawnDrake3555 22:02, 19 May 2008 (EDT)
- As far as I am aware, the 'normal' goblins will continue to respawn as long as the shaman is alive. Once the shaman dies, the goblins will no longer respawn. I don't believe the warchiefs respawn. --Gaebrial 02:55, 21 May 2008 (EDT)
74 Berserkers?[edit]
From the main page:
"The White Skin tribe consists of 13 guards, 74 Berserkers, 4 Skirmishers, a War Chief, and Goblin Jim (actually not a goblin but a Breton witch)."
I'm assuming this was just a typo, but I wanted to make sure. --GuildKnight 03:06, 18 February 2007 (EST)
- Oops :) Yep, it's supposed to just be 4. The White Skin tribe may be big, but they're not that big! --Nephele 11:37, 18 February 2007 (EST)
AI for goblin wars missing?[edit]
A thread recently appeared at the official Bethesda forums where some posters claim the actual AI to make goblins go after totems isn't implemented. The readme for the Goblin War Party mod also says it was never included in the game. Is this correct?
Yes, I have the same problems too. The goblins never go after their totems. Apparently it happens though. --Aldage 21:04, 16 October 2007 (EDT)
- Has anyone actually seen a goblin war outside of of the "goblin trouble" quest without using mods?
- I tried to start a war between the goblins by dumping 3 totem staves outside a goblin camp (onw from that camp, one from Goblin trouble and one from a different tribe. I stole all 3 staves using 100% chameleon (so none of the tribe members would die). After waiting 10 days after I dumped the staves, I gave up because nothing happened. -- 86.133.164.27 11:43, 30 December 2007 (EST)

- Same - stole a staff, dumped it elsewhere, nothing happened. I'm putting a note about the script missing, the mod for the PC, and the (disappointment) for Xbox users where the {{huh}} is so people don't waste time. -- Guest 00:41, 9 August 2008 (EDT)

- Actually, this discussion has been had in and out, and it's been verified in the Construction Set that there really isn't anything for Goblin tribe wars of any kind, though goblins will usually try to retrieve their totem if it's left fairly close to the cave, but there's a distance limit in the game, so contrary to what the page says, they won't try to retrieve their totems if you take them more than a short way away. The main page for this article is proposed for deletion, partly as a result of this. --Robin Hood (Talk • E-mail • Contribs) 01:25, 10 August 2008 (EDT)

Quest[edit]
This is listed under Miscellaneous quests. How exactly is this a quest? 71.160.164.152 20:46, 23 April 2008 (EDT)
- I don't really think it's a quest either (see this discussion), however there doesn't really seem to be anywhere else to put it.--Willyhead/t 07:00, 24 April 2008 (EDT)
Silly Information[edit]
I am quite confused about the information on the main article. It says that a goblin tribe will go any distance to get their staff but then underneath it says that it is impossible to do this in the un-modded version of the game. If it is impossible unless you use mods, then it shouldn't be there. --Matthewest •T•C•E• 19:56, 12 May 2008 (EDT)
Image Description[edit]
The image description is obviously false information. In the entie picture there are 5 goblins and perhaps 1 dead one on the floor. --Matthewest •T•C•E• 20:14, 12 May 2008 (EDT)
- The description refers not to the number of goblins, but to the name of the tribe: Three Feathers. Personally, I'm not sure how you can tell what tribe they are in this picture, given that it's too dark to see their arm-tattoos, but I'll take their word for it that that's what they are. Maybe the caption could be reworded to be less confusing? --TheRealLurlock Talk 20:22, 12 May 2008 (EDT)
- The word 'three' is describing the faction to which the goblins belong, not the total number of goblins present. If 'three' were being used in a numerical sense, it would imply that there were 3 goblins of the feather tribe. Unfortunately there's no such tribe as the feather tribe, only the three feather tribe. As changing the meaning of the text to imply '5 goblins of the feather tribe' as opposed to 'goblins of the three feather tribe' does not make sense, we can deduce that the text implies the latter. It could however, be more appropriately worded so as to avoid further confusion. --Saruuk 20:26, 12 May 2008 (EDT)
- I have reworded the description to avoid confusion, however, there is no proof that the goblins are from the Three Feather Tribe. Perhaps somebody could verify this? --Matthewest •T•C•E• 22:40, 19 July 2008 (EDT)
- On the contrary, there is more than enough proof that the goblins are from the Three Feather Tribe: the tattoo clearly visible on the upper right arm of the two goblins in the middle of the picture is the tattoo of the Three Feather Tribe. --NepheleTalk 22:56, 19 July 2008 (EDT)

Remove/Rethink this article?[edit]
It seems that the lead-in to this article is incorrect. As has been mentioned above, there seems to be no code in the Construction Set to cause goblin wars of any kind; the totem is just a convenient piece of treasure for the player. In trials, I found absolutely no behavioural differences in the goblins, even just dropping their Totem a little ways outside their cave door. I would like to suggest that we remove and/or rethink this article (possibly just as a general Goblin Tribe info page) and remove it from the quest list unless evidence can be provided that moving the Totem actually does cause internecine wars in an unmodified version of the game. --Robin Hood (Talk • E-mail • Contribs) 12:33, 10 June 2008 (EDT)
- Good idea. Since most of the information on here is already present on the Goblins page I've added a merge tag to this one. It would only need one small paragraph on the Goblins article to make this redundant so I don't see there's a problem. –Rpeh•T•C•E• 12:48, 10 June 2008 (EDT)
- Looking over the CS again, I can see now what's supposed to start the various Goblin wars, but it seems that it either doesn't at all, or at least doesn't reliably. If I drop the staff outside its home cave, sometimes, I can get goblins to pick up their own staff and take it back, other times I can't. What's more, I can see no difference in the AI packages for the goblins that actually do go to war (Goblin Trouble quest), and those that don't seem to want to. I suspect there's something else going on in the AI packages and such that I'm not understanding. In any event, I still concur with the merge proposal; even if there ARE wars (discounting the Goblin Trouble quest), I think Rpeh's right, that that can probably be summarized in a paragraph on the main Goblins page. --Robin Hood (Talk • E-mail • Contribs) 16:04, 10 June 2008 (EDT)
