New duplication glitch after 1.2 patch
With the release of the 1.2 patch, the arrow duplication method no longer works. If you were addicted to it as an exploit, or just used it occasionally for fun (e.g. duplicating 200+ watermelons in the stairway at Cloud Ruler Temple and casting a 100ft fireball into them), there is still a method to duplicate items.
The method which still works (confirmed on XBox, PS3 and PC) is even simpler to use than the arrow glitch. Instead of a stack of arrows, you need a stack of identical scrolls. Equip the stack of scrolls twice (i.e. click on it twice in your inventory), and then drop the item you wish to duplicate (shift-click on the PC). This works just like the old arrow duplication regarding the number of items left in your inventory and the stacking of the dropped items. Either Bethsoft only made a quick and dirty partial fix for the old exploit, or they left this in the game on purpose for you to use at your own discretion.
Finding several identical scrolls is more difficult than finding many arrows of the same type, but luckily, you can duplicate scrolls with this method as well. Thus, as soon as you have bought or looted two scrolls of the same type you can create an arbitrary amount of duplicates of any other scroll, and use the duplicates of that other scroll to further duplicate items in any amount.
- A very good place to get multiple identical scrolls is from Kud-Ei, in the Bravil Mage's Guild Recommendation quest. She first gives you one Beguile scroll, then after the first segment of the quest, she gives you three more. The small partially walled-in garden just outside the Bravil MG is a good place to do some duping, as the short walls keep things from rolling away. --70.191.123.38 18:44, 9 April 2007 (EDT)
-- I'm not sure what i'm doing wrong, but I can't get this to work. First, do I double click on the scroll in my inventory or in the spell list? (Scrolls appear in both) Then, do I just shift click the item I want to dupe? because when I do this, only one thing drops to the ground. 74.69.245.119 00:03, 15 April 2007 (EDT)
-- I got this to work perfectly with only one click on the scrolls, the other thing i found was that you could do it on certain stacked items. For example i tried it on a stack of 15 arrows and got 15 arrows + the amount of scrolls i was using for the glitch, (76 at the time) however doing this on a stack of 600+ lockpicks took away 76 but did not dupe any at all. I then also tried this on potions which worked and it only dropped 1 item of the stack but still duped the item the correct amount of times. Killerchronic 11:10, 1 May 2007 (EDT)
--This worked perfectly well for me. I found through that you can clone everything but swords, quest items, armor(not including rings and necklaces), and soul gems. (I tried cloning a filled grand soul gem and it worked, but it turned out empty.) July 2007
--This did not work for me. It just dropped one items. It does not say I have multiple scrolls even though I know I have 4 from mages guild quest. 22 June 2002
- I can confirm this is also true. None of the duplication tricks are working for me as well (Xbox 360). I have all of the additions installed except for Knights of the Nine. I can see the amount of scrolls I have if I move down the everything list in the inventory...but when switching to the magic inventory list, it appears as one scroll only. Anyone have any input on this? 21 Novemeber 2007
--I have recently updated my game because I got the fighters stronghold add-on and I believe with that the glitch no longer works. Has this happened to anyone else? 04 November 2007
- I can confirm that the glitch still works after FS is installed. Perhaps you were trying with a non-duplicable item? Try selling it and buying it back. Remember though that some items simply cannot be duplicated. --Rpeh•T•C•E• 16:50, 4 November 2007 (EST)
I use this glitch a lot because I'm lazy and I don't want to do raiding to get items (this is about my 4 character), so sometime I'll go upload a video of me duping using scrolls and see if you're doing anything wrong because the only time I can't dupe stuff is with quest items and a few exceptions which usually involve how your duping (amount of items and stuff). I have the fighters guild stronghold, frostcrag spire, the pirate den thing and shivering isles so not being able has nothing to do with any of them I also have all the latest patches. Balmazer
- How do you equip scrolls? — Unsigned comment by 74.71.229.142 (talk)
-
- Just to make sure everyone realizes: there is already a section on the main article at Duplicate Items Using Scrolls that already explains this glitch in detail; that section had already been added to the article before this discussion was even started. So I'd recommmend reading that section and following the instructions there before asking questions ;) --NepheleTalk 18:10, 9 January 2008 (EST)
There are a couple references to not being able to duplicate armor and weapons, and I found that to not be true. I think the trick is that you need to have multiple stacks of a weapon or armor in your inventory. An easy way to do that is to have one equipped, but when you repair an item to 125 it will create multiple stacks for you, or just have multiple items with different durability. It seems that sometimes the first time you duplicate it won't work, but it will afterwards. For example I had 128 Shadow scrolls and five Glass daggers. The daggers were broken up into three stacks, two stacks of two daggers and one stack of one (after I repaired them to 125). I double equipped the shadow scrolls, then dropped one of the dagger stacks and all three stacks disappeared from my inventory. I picked up the three daggers on the ground and then had a single stack of five in my inventory. I double clicked on the scrolls and dropped my stack of five daggers. Three of the five daggers were removed from my inventory. When I closed the inventory I had dropped 26 daggers, one a stack of three and 25 stack of five. I then tried to duplicate a Deadric Longsword in my inventory but it didn't work (I had one sword, one dropped). I got another one, equipped one, double clicked the scrolls, dropped one, both swords were removed from my inventory, and four swords were dropped. I picked them up and had one single sword and a stack of three swords. I double clicked the scrolls, dropped the stack of three, all swords removed from my inventory, and many stacks of three swords were dropped, one stack of four, and one single sword. I did this all on the Xbox360 patched and with all the official mods loaded. I was able to verify that you can do this with enchanted items as well if you can get two copies of them. I loaded up the game on my PC, gave myself two Goldbrands and 100 Shadow scrolls, and was able to duplicate Goldbrand after I equipped one. So you can duplicate some unique items, but on the consoles you can't obtain more than one. --Shalley303 19:26, 6 March 2008 (EST)
After a whole lot of testing I have found the following interesting things.
- Some items I just can't get to duplicate like Shadowbanish Wine, Ayleid Statues and Scales of Pitiless Justice. From what I can tell it may be because these items have scripts attached to them. I wasn't able to duplicate the Goblin Totem Staff either until I equipped one of the two I had. It may be that the only way to duplicate items with a script is to equip one, which you can't do with non-weapon/armor items. This would explain why you can duplicate some books and not others.
- You can duplicate Daedric Lava Whiskey. If you drink up 1-4 potions at once then you will summon that many Dremora Lords at once. Though sometimes all but one will vanish immediately.
- Summon Rufio's Ghost makes a great duplicating scroll since it is zero weight.
This is a reference for players looking for more information on duplication. I am putting it here since this talk page has the most information on the subject. It is not a glitch in the game and should not be in this main article, but for players wanting to duplicate items that cannot be duplicated with the scroll glitch, see the talk page for the Skull of Corruption. Taking advantage of this will allow you to duplicate all but three items in the game. --Shalley303 16:36, 31 March 2008 (EDT)
This is magnificent to use and i have always used it. you cannot duplicate most enchanted items but some weapons and jewlery can be duped. if anyone wants help duping undupable items, ask me Dragonmie 18:15, 13 June 2008 (EDT)
I have really messed up a quest! can someone help me?
In the quest Adharji's heirloom I have taken the ring from Alesasia Caro but i can't give it to Adharji! When I talk to her and tell her about stolen ring she asks "Does the hunter have this one's ring?" and i can only answer "No, I don't have it yet" or "Amusei tried to sell it" What shall I do?
Did you pickpocket that ring off Alessia? Because if you did, the one you pickpocketed isn't the actual ring. You can only get her ring by stealing it out of her jewelbox. If you did get the ring from her jewelbox though, are you using any mods or patches? Because I never found any bugs in that quest on an unmodified Xbox 360 version. CosmicChaos 05:37, 1 October 2007 (EDT)
- This quest is seriously buggy; I had some weird problems with it myself. Check the quest page[[1]] for some solutions--if you're on the PC and all else fails you can try to use the console to set things right.--Arigem 06:28, 2 October 2007 (EDT
Enchanted Items disappear
With shivering Isles and 1.2.0201. If I have have enchanted an item, say with a sigil stone, if I turn the program off and back on, it disappears from the save file (All of them). At first I thought I'd just been disarmed and lost a weapon... so I continued playing. Then it happened again when I loaded a game, and was weaponless and couldn't find it. I then experimented and found that sometimes when I save and quit, and then restart and load, the items are just gone.
- It sounds like you have the FormID bug that comes with Shivering Isles. The first symptoms are disappearing items. If that is so, the items will never be returned, but you can download a patch or go to Xbox Live. Read here for more details. Until you get the fix, I wouldn't suggest playing Oblivion. --Vesna 18:32, 17 October 2007
Help on Vampirism Quest!!!!
I did everything i can on the quest...im not a vampire anymore. it told me to talk to the count's assisstant.i did. then i gave the potion to the count and they did sumthin i dont know because i accidently skipped it.then i waited for 24 hours...after 24 hours i talked to the count and nothin happened. What did i do wrong or whats wrong with my game???
-I think you need to wait 3 days for the disease to work. Not sure though. same problem hapened to me as far as i no the quest will remained unfinished for us unless bethesda releases patch for that.
How can i remove the duplication skill enchantments???
I was wondering, before i actually do the duplication skill glitch, how can i remove the enchantments if i wanted to???i saw on a forum that a guy did it but i couldn't remember what the website was.
Answer to Item duplicating fix!
I know how to undo the patch that fixes the duplicating glitch involving arrows, how can i put this on the official glitches page? --Western3589 12:19, 4 November 2007 (EST)
- Post it on here first - you'll often get more details or a refutation. Once you've been registered a week (?) you'll be able to edit the main page for yourself anyway. --Rpeh•T•C•E• 16:26, 4 November 2007 (EST)
- Ok well you just have to clear the cache using this [[2]]
- It deletes all your updates. Don't worry though all your official mods will be saved even if the quest restarts the stuff is safe. When you turn the game on after clearing the cache it will ask for an update, don't install it, you may not be able to have acess to Xbox live but you can do the Item dupe glitch again! --Western3589 16:40, 4 November 2007 (EST)
-
-
- Information about how to remove patches is already provided on the wiki at Oblivion:Xbox 360#Patches. And just for clarification, deleting patches is a very different process from defragmenting the game's cache (which is also referred to as "clearing the cache"). The latter process is completely nondestructive and is something that Xbox 360 players should do periodically to improve game performance. See Oblivion:Xbox 360#Xbox 360 Fixes for details. --NepheleTalk 17:31, 4 November 2007 (EST)

Dorian Glitch
It is also possible to paralyze Dorian and loot his gold if you were born under the Lady birthsign. The article should reflect this; currently, it only says that you must be a journeyman in illusion or able to drain fatigue. Blackhawk003 10:42, 10 November 2007 (EST)
- Thanks for pointing that out. I deleted the sentence completely, since there are many other possible ways to paralyze someone that do not require journeyman skill in illusion (poisons, Mages Staff, master-level combat perks, Serpent Stone power, etc.) --NepheleTalk 03:04, 18 November 2007 (EST)
On Xbox 360, after the patch, how can you paralyze Dorian without him Fleeing. 24.0.0.30 03:05, 23 July 2008 (EDT)
Magic Practice via Reflect Spell
I suggest that this isn't a glitch at all. Maybe this is just how magic is supposed to work in Tamriel! Vlad the Imperial 06:41, 21 November 2007 (EST)
Is there any possible way in which to acces the race customization menu of Oblivion in the xbox 360 without a sewers save? Say you were a noob like I was, when I made my first char, and made the perfect face and never thought about keeping a save in the sewers, and now that I bought Oblivion for pc after experiencing problematic glitches in the 360 version. I want to recreate the face of my char on the pc, am dying to do it and cant find a way, because I dont have a sewers save.
Is there any code you can enter with the controller, or anything that will allow me to open the char race menu?? anyhow? outside the sewers? or any way to get my player back into the sewers, restart the whole character but not destroy or alter the face?
I am desperate to copy the face. Plzz, I need some genious to help me make it happen.
Sorry, but I think you're screwed. The race menu can only be accessed with console codes, but you can't access the console on the xbox as far as I know...
Please this is the glitches discussion page not an faq for this kind of issue >:C Look here: http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Oblivion:Xbox_360#Video_Output
Scroll Glitch
"4. Highlight (but do not equip) a single item (not a stack) that you wish to duplicate, and drop it."
This can be done with a stack as long as there are MORE scrolls then there are items. Lets say you have 10 glass daggers and 100 scrolls you equip the scrolls go to the daggers which would say Glass Dagger x10 you hit X (not sure what it is on a PC) and then you will have 10 groups of 10 daggers.
Edit: Nevermind it seems to just drop a more or less random number of duplicated items.
Oh, and when duplicating anything with scrolls you need to have more scrolls then there are items. Balmazer
Clarification: No, it actually does something pretty straightforward--When you select/activate a stack of scrolls, it "remembers" that you have selected X of item Y, and then when you try to immediately afterwards drop some other item, the moment you click on it, it changes Y to be the new item, but fails to update X and then executes the drop function. When you drop stacks, it again removes the items from your inventory, but creates a "stacked" item in the environment and fills it with the right number of items for the stack. So, since the basic drop function removes the old X of the new Y from your inventory (which just removes them from your inventory you can't have a negative number of items), and then iteratively creates in the environment (because that what's in your inventory isn't actually the object you know) old X of stacked item new Y and fills them with enough to match the size of the stack you dropped. If you have 20 scrolls selected/activated, then you drop a stack of 5 Potions of Healing, you'll get four stacked objects added to the environment that are each "Potion of Healing (5)". This can be handy when you don't want to spend all farking day clicking to pick up the 200 pearls you were just duping (you dirty cheater you! Heh.). It's not random, it's just a little bizarre since it doesn't always make each stack "full" unless you dropped an even multiple. 18 items into 5-stacks might become three 5-stacks and one 3-stack, or two 5-stacks and two 4-stacks apparently.
RE: "All FARKIN DAY" Is there a recorded time limit? I've been thinking that that's my problem. Also, does it affect you if the scrolls are stolen? And are there certain items this doesn't work for? Because I've tried something like 50 different methods, and I got zilch. PS: I have the Game of The Year edition, with everything.
- I'm pretty sure that stolen scrolls DO NOT work with duplicating, either as the item being duplicated or the scroll being used to duplicate. 24.0.0.30 03:06, 23 July 2008 (EDT)
-
- Actually I think it is possible to use stolen scrolls to duplicate other items; it's how I did early-game dupes.Draenoch 10:06, 29 July 2008 (EDT)

-
- I think that it is posible to remove the stolen staus off of the original item when u duplicate it.

Easy Arena Win
---On your left, between the rim of the tunnel and the wall, you should see a slight bank in the wall. First jump backwards into the wall so you are standing on the slant, facing the gate. Repeatedly jump forcing yourself back against the wall and as you do this turn to face the slant making sure you stay on top of it.--- (All you have to do is face it and then jump untop the back there's no special way of doing it) You will now fall through the wall. As you fall through the wall you should notice a ledge that sticks out of the normal game boundaries right where the stairs up the tunnel start. Try to land on this ledge. Don’t worry if you miss the first couple of tries, you will simply spawn back in the arena with no damage. (True but it shuld be indicated that the ledge is very small)
Once you are on the ledge your opponent will walk down the tunnel and try to hit you but won't be able to through the wall and will repeatedly run into it. You on the other hand will be able to hit your opponent through the wall using either your sword, magic or arrows. Once you have disposed of the enemy simply drop off the edge and spawn back in the arena. (You can get hit on the ledge he's reffering to but if you jump on the ledge and slide to the right you can't get hit and you can use your sword, theres also a large ledge made from some stairs that stick out)
This appears to be the only wall in the arena where you can do this (the other three slanted walls by the tunnels don't work.) (It is the only one that works.)
(It should be noted that you can slide to pretty much the other side of the area doing this. You can also spawn in the arena before the guy finishes talking by sliding on the side (It helps if you're repeatedly juymping)and you can walk around or go to your opponents and shoot some arrows/magic at while he is still in the entrance section (beofre the gates are raised. Once the anouncer finishes speaking and the gates open you can get to the other side of the area by sliding along the wall, I'm not sure why it only lets you go half way when he's talking. You can also go and stand on the white area if you're able to jump far enough out. Balmazer
Frostcrag Spire Glitch
Someone should include a note in the Frostcrag Spire Glitch section to mention that when duplicating Sigil stones, this will cause your fame by 1 for EACH Sigil stone that is placed into your inventory. This can cause your fame to reach very high values within 2-3 tries. Not so great if your wanting to have -fame/+infamy. Could be fixed if the Gray Fox Cowl glitch (retain bounty/high infamy) were exploited, but only if you finish Thieve's guild quests. SGentry506
- Done. Thanks for pointing that out (it had been included at Oblivion:Fame#Notes, but not here). --NepheleTalk 15:47, 21 December 2007 (EST)
-
- I looked in the construction set, and the cell reference here was wrong. The cell that contains the sigil stone activator is TestBrumaHouseMid02. Atleast in my version. There is a TestBrumaHouseMid, but it did not have the sigil stone activator in it. --Scxe 00:42, 27 February 2008 (EST)
-
-
- The described glitch is linked to the TestBrumaHouseMid cell, not the TestBrumaHouseMid02 cell. The glitch occurs because the TestBrumaHouseMid cell is changed into the Frostcrag Spire Living Area. Therefore, when you follow the instructions (which say to save a game while standing in the living area), you end up in the TestBrumaHouseMid cell. Therefore, I've restored the original text. --NepheleTalk 21:52, 2 April 2008 (EDT)

Could someone make a map showing everything in the test area?
If you go towards the few trees visible from the rock fire in the Test Town and follow it you will come upon another small group of houses. One is enterable which has nothing inside except a few bottles of wine and a silver mug but a room next to it that sounds like a Sigil Keep and can be seen on the close up map but there's no where there. There's also a duplicate castle from one of the town which i haven't found an entrance in. I encourage checking it out. 24.0.0.30 03:04, 23 July 2008 (EDT)
Does this glitch still work if you have finished the main Oblivion quest line???
Duplicating with scrolls clarification
It is my understanding that you need to try to equip the scrolls TWICE. Someone should change the information on the page. — Unsigned comment by 74.34.119.23 (talk)
C'mon and Zoom!
If you hold the right stick then hold LT the camera will zoom all the way in, you can set the distance too by letting go of the buttons. Good if you like to play in third-person. The only way to fix it that I've found so far is to just sit anywhere. — Unsigned comment by 72.139.22.58 (talk)
- Holding the right stick down and pulling the triggers on the 360 enables you to adjust third person zoom. It is not a glitch at all. — Unsigned comment by 86.142.216.54 (talk)
Generic Characters Hating Guards
I created a sweet, if not glitchy spell: Frenzy up to level 25 for 20 secs on Target Calm up to Level 1 in 10 ft for 10 secs on Target.
After casting this spell on any non-quest character, they will begin attacking random people, but, for some reason they don't stop attacking random people even after the spell runs out, however, if they are generic, meaning they respawn every week, they will attack guards whenever they see them, try it out...
Help on money glitch
I have been searching all over the game and i have not much money left i really want money i tried dorian the money glitch but it dont work anymore because it had this patch which made the game a bit boring so if anyone could help me please i would be glad to hear it.
- Believe me the game will be far more boring when you've got more money than you know how to use, but hey. Try looking at the information on this page for tips on how to get rich quick. —Rpeh•T•C•E• 12:05, 4 January 2008 (EST)
False information on the article
from the article Entering the Imperial City Invasion Prior to Light the Dragonfires
By using enough paint brushes with the Floating Paint Brushes glitch, you can climb onto the rooftops around the Temple of the One (or onto the temple itself) in the Imperial City, and jump onto the temple (you will fall through the roof). Do not go through the main door when you are inside. Instead, you will find a door that is partly underground a few steps ahead of it; go into that one. You will find yourself in the invasion of the Imperial City that occurs during Light the Dragonfires. There is no use for this glitch, as none of the quest NPCs are with you, not even Mehrunes Dagon is there. Also, it is impossible to escape the Temple District and you cannot go back to where you came from, so it is highly recommended that you save before attempting this glitch.
Dagon eventually appears, and Martin walks slowly from Kvatch eventually getting there
- (SPOILERS)Yes, I also ended up having Martin finally arive by exiting the Temple of the One, getting a quest message, going back inside the temple and waiting until Martin "woke up" my character and began the final scene where Dagon breaks through the roof of the temple and so on.
Permanent Bound Items Cont.
There is some additional information to the permanent bound items glitch involving the character repairing damaged bound items, dropping them, waiting for the spell to wear off, then picking them back up. I had one instance where I dropped the weapons, waited for one hour, then accidently quit without saving after picking up the weapons. After I had loaded the Autosave from my wait, I noticed there was my bound items (A helmet and a bow from the doomstone at Lake Rumare) on the ground, but more in my inventory. So, now I have two Bound Helmets and Two Bound Bows. It would be a better glitch if they were worth anything but still interesting.--75.104.192.59 04:32, 5 January 2008 (EST)

Frostcrag Spire > BrumaTestHouse glitch continuation
I've been wondering, but can't be bothered to test this myself (as all my good stuff is in Frostcrag Spire atm and I don't want to lose it all) but instead of standing in the Oblivion Plants, what if someone went to the roof of Frostcrag Spire (via the other portal in the Living Area), went to their XBOX dashboard, uninstalled Wizard's Tower, then loaded the savegame up, where would they be? Would they end up in BrumaTestHouse, or would they end up in another test cell? I've always wondered if there are ways to get into certain test cells that have been found in the CS, but on the XBOX via installing and uninstalling plugins. ImmortalKaine 03:22, 15 January 2008 (EST)
- It is possible to test this yourself. Load a savegame in which you are located in Frostcrag Spire, without the plugin enabled. Make sure you don't overwrite a savegame when saving (or don't save it all). --Timenn < talk > 09:14, 15 January 2008 (EST)
-
- I don't have one, that's the thing. Plus, I can't just up and start a new one, my Mace of Doom and my full Perma-Bound armour sets (one fully enchanted to Fortify Acrobatics and one fully fortify strength'd) are in Frostcrag on my good save and I don't want to either transfer all my stuff or lose it.....so yeah. ImmortalKaine 12:34, 15 January 2008 (EST)

- I'm afraid I can't see what your problem is. When you have the Frostcrag Spire plugin enabled, enter the building and make a new save. Count of Bravil glitch
When I was in Bravil I kinda killed the count. He had it coming. Anyway, I tried to get in the castle about three times. Everytime i tried to get in my game crashed. Extreme Horse Speed
From my experience it is possible to strike a horse with a blessing from any wayshrine in order to get a permanent high speed effect making the horse go at extreme speeds. I also found a video of it (with comments underneath the video of other peoples experiences of the glitch) meaning that I'm not the only person to have experienced this glitch.--Willyhead 12:51, 20 January 2008 (EST)
- Even without using wayshrines, there is an INSANE way to get your horse moving. Become a master of restoration and make a spell that has 100 point fortify atheletics and fortify speed 100 points each for 30 seconds. cast it on shadowmere (one of the fastest horses) and combined with a water walking other spell, shadowmere has the ability to make it clear across the niben bay in the 30 second fortify effect. have fun. Broken Candles Correction
Actually, since the Broken Candles bug is caused by an update, it is possible to correct on the Xbox 360, even though a comment underneath the glitch information states otherwise. By removing the Oblivion update that causes the glitch, the problem is fixed. This may seem a little extreme, but if deformed candles bother you that much...Anyway, the instructions to delete all the updates you've downloaded for all your Xbox and Xbox360 games on the 360 can be found here. (Just ignore the stuff about Halo 2.) I have not encountered the bug, and have not attempted to fix it using this method, so I don't know if it corrects it or not. But I did delete my updates, so I could play another game that wasn't working, and it did ask me to redownload the Oblivion patch when I started up Oblivion. This is mostly theoretical, so feel free to add it to the article, or you can delete it from the discussion page. I'm just trying to help... --Handman003 03:59, 17 February 2008 (EST)
Actually, the instructions for deleting the patches are already on the wiki, sorry about that. --Handman003 04:01, 17 February 2008 (EST)
permanent effects from quest items
i tried several times to get the permanent effect from the boots of springheel jack but to no avail. i don't think i was doing something wrong because it worked with the necromancers amulet and other quest items. any suggestions? i used the jail trick btw. --Piercethetruth 02:27, 21 February 2008 (EST)
I was also unable to get the permanent effect for Springheel Jack's boots to work. I tried the "getting arrested" method, but only ended up without the boots. No +50 acrobatics; the boots were NOT in the evidence chest when I broke out of jail.
I suspect that the cause is that if you use the boots as expected (falling an otherwise fatal distance with them on) they are so completely destroyed that the game removes them from your inventory, and so notifies you. They are the ONLY quest item that you lose in that manner.
An alternate method for the same effect is to make multiple +10 acrobatics necklaces (acrobat 01, acrobat 02, ...) and use the "duplicate dropped item" binding glitch on each. I suggest limiting permanent items. Empirically, I found that 80+ permanent items makes each trip through a "loading" door a medium shot at the game freezing partway through loading. I've since limited myself to 20 or so, and have seen a MUCH more stable game. --Adrn 00:09, 1 July 2008 (EDT)

- Lol. I decided I would create the 'perfect character', based on what I wanted it to look like, because I knew that I could get whatever I needed through the permanent effects glitch. My Nord has 15000 magicka and 1900 willpower, but its too late to go back now without making a new character. It takes the effort fun out of the game, but with a 50ft fire spell costing 14000 magicka, its fun in its own way. The loading is very slow indeed, with 500+ effects... And yes, I know that I am the biggest noob to play Oblivion because I did this. You don't need to point it out.

Mana Freezing Glitch.
Hey guys, new here but I have a huge problem. Awhile back I ran into a situation where I had to use the "TGM" cheat (needed to carry a set of Ebony Armor to a chest and ran out of room). Well, now my mana is broken. It won't go up without the use of a potion (no I'm not a artonarch). It WILL go down due to use. Does anyone know what I can do to fix this? Avoiding Mages Guild Permanent Items?
Is it possible on the XBOX360 to avoid the mages guild permanent items?, like the collosal soul gem and the key.--Marleysexton 10:06, 23 February 2008 (EST)

Ayleid ruin gates not opening.
When inside any Ayleid ruin there will be the switch activated gates. When the switch that opens the gate is pressed/used the gate stays shut, prohibiting the player to explore the entire ruin, and keeping the player from finnishing the main quest. — Unsigned comment by 67.161.195.129 (talk)
- I have this same issue. It prevents you from completing a number of quests, not just the main one, and is extremely irritating. I'm running an unpatched Xbox360 version of the game, but I'm wondering if letting the patch install will fix the problem. Any ideas? — Unsigned comment by StrixAlpha (talk • contribs)
-
- I haven't ever had a problem with gates in Ayleid Ruins, but I have had them with another, more destructive form of object: Traps. Occasionally when I activate a trap, all or part of the trap will fail to engage. That problem can be easily fixed by hitting it or casting a spell on the part that was supposed to activate, but I don't expect that will happen with the gates. I think I've figured out the problem, though: The triggers are failing to activate the animations associated with them, causing something to fail. I'm sorry, but I don't have any surefire solutions to your problem, but if you have your mind set on getting through that gate, try everything you can, including massive fortification of your speed attribute, reloading the cell, and casting Maximum Area Fireballs at the gate with such hatred that you could kill, not simply banish, Mehrunes Dagon. You WILL get through eventually. IHIMSELF 14:51, 29 May 2008 (EDT)
Weird jumping around.
When the player enters a cell, all actors start to "jump" around. It seems like they start sinking through the floor and are then placed a few feet above it, to fall back to the floor and repeat the process. This continues until the player steps out of the affected zone. Scenery can be passed through, and objects that should be 'usable' (or picked up, like nirnroot) become dead. The nirnroot sound is still heard, but the nirnroot cannot be picked up. Items seem to simply fall through the floor into the void. The player can swim normally, and is placed the same height from the floor (maybe still in the water) when he/she reaches the bottom.
This problem happens at random (so far), and goes away once the game is restarted (perhaps reloading the cell fixes it?). So far, no single mod seems like the culprit. Since deactivating a mod requires a game restart, the glitch would simply vanish. It is possible to move around the cell (while the player is in the air) and even attack other actors (who will be jumping around too, makes fights easier). This even happens in the Shivering Isles. --Nicfortin1342 21:45, 27 February 2008 (EST)nicfortin1342, Feb 27 2008
I've noticed the npc's bouncing and soforth, specifically in the Best Defense shop in IC. I did not experience any items falling through the floor, however. It could be caused by many things. There are pretty erratic glitches, in which, oblivion decides to overwrite saved data in the game (like RefId's), but, personnaly, i blamed my use of Window's Vista =P. --Scxe 23:43, 27 February 2008 (EST)

Question about Arena glitch
In the Arena quest description (http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Oblivion:Arena_%28faction%29) there is a listed glitch that's not listed in the "glitches" list, but seems to me like it may not be real. Its near the bottom of the page and says "There is also a bug that occurs if you have the Thieves Den Official Mod installed. After you've beaten the Gray Prince and spoken with the battle matron where the incomplete quest entry for 'Arena' in your journal says "I've got everything" but can never be furthered or completed. This is because the plug-in overrides the standard quest with a set of stages of its own:
Stage Journal Entry
- 10
- 20 Woot! I got the fletcher!
- 30 Stealth trainer for me!
- 40 Where my supplier at? Oh yeah, in my cave.
- 50 Security trainer and his box of locks are active!
- 60 Climb the fence! *groan*
- 100 I've got everything.
To remove this entry from your journal, run the following command in the console: CompleteQuest 0002991F or CompleteQuest Arena
If this glitch isn't real, it should be removed from the Arena page; if it is real, it should be added to the glitches page. I'm not far enough to check this out myself.. — Unsigned comment by 75.6.250.175 (talk)
- Yes it's real. It's a well-known bug. And it's more suited to the Arena page because it's only relevant to the Arena. This page is (generally) for bugs that can be encountered anywhere or that are of general interest. –Rpeh•T•C•E• 03:28, 20 March 2008 (EDT)
- In that case, maybe it should be added to the information about the Thieves Den downloadable content, because that would be frustrating to have done all of it, and then find out there's a known bug and to finish off the Arena quest, you'll have to uninstall the Thieves Den, and lose that progress.. — Unsigned comment by 67.121.66.9 (talk)

Shouldn't the "clear underwater" (no underwater mist) glitch/technical limitation that appears when you're swimming just below the water surface, with water line visible on screen in 1st person, be listed in "Graphical/Display Glitches"? OMG! EXTREME DUPLICATING!!! :)
CHECK THIS OUT! :)
this isn't the glitch I just found but is a part that is already written :) Clear patches by going to systems then press y, once you go onto the page, press x,x, LB, RB, xx a message will pop up saying something about maintanence, say yes. you can replace the patches anytime so nothing to fret about just put in the game and say no to updates. You will then have all the glitches active again (this isn't new stuff) So I did this and did the duplication for my arrows ( pull out your weapon when you are in the middle of your attack go to the inventory and equip arrows and press on them twice so you see that you can not change when attacking thing.then you drop whatever you want to duplicate) (yeah I know this isn't new) keep going until you have a very large quantity of whatever you want, then (this is new XD) place it in a cabinet in your house (I did it in bravil). It will keep adding stuff in the cabinet!!!! I got like over 100k of arrows and I put it into my cabinet and it kept growing to like 300,000!! then I took it out and duplicated it again and put it back in and got over a million!!!! :) if it only works in the bravil house, its the far left cabnet :) Happy duplicating! :) — Unsigned comment by Rosered (talk • contribs)
You dont have to get rid of the patches, just do the scroll duplicate glitch. And it happens in any storage container, the storage container will only read as holding so much and if you put just one more then its held amount in it will keep duplicating. 161.57.229.103 23:49, 6 May 2008 (EDT) xBlink N Die
Cleanup of Proposed page

I think i duplicated a SOUND!!!
I was on my friends xbox and i was in anvil near the dock gate next to i believe the king and queen tavern and i double-equipped some scrolls to duplicate his torches and i dropp his equipped burning torch along with his unequipped torch (might have done it the other way around)and i didn't duplicate anything! instead i dropped a torch(43) and i also dropped A STILL BURNING TORCH! you could still pick up the burning torch(not telekenesis) and wave it around and it would still burn! so i took all the torches back but in that spot i could still hear a torch burning! i looked everywhere and there weren't anymore torches! so now on that game and file it sounds like there is a bonfire going next to the tavern!!! if this works for anyone else as well then i hope you have fun with it. :) WARNING: if this works for you I havn't found a way to reverse it yet!!! So be ready to have a fire sound playing for eternity next to the king and queen tavern. — Unsigned comment by 204.98.2.180 (talk)
This doesn't just work with torches. When you duplicate any item that produces a noise, whether it be a torch, Sigil Stone, or something else, there will always be a single sound for every item, and for each one it will add to the volume. So if you are duplicating torches, I would suggest that you do so underwater, duplicate only a few at a time, and move from the last duplication spot until you can no longer hear the sounds of the last item. I suggest this because people seem to die after sounds exceed 200 decibels, and if someone died while playing Oblivion, there would be lots of angry moms filing lawsuits against Bethesda, and that just isn't good for any of us.
permanent effects disappear
my character is a high elf born under the sign of the atronach and i did the sanguine quest while wearing the necromancer's amulet and the bloodworm helm. evrything went great for a long period, but recently, all my race/birthsign bonuses and the enchantments from the necromancers amulet and bloodworm helm have disappeared. until now i've never realised how much i've relied on these things(i refuse to play on anything easier than the hardest difficulty). now, playing the game is unbearable as i have a mere 200 magicka instead of my normal 550+! please someone help me because im desperate(im thinking about stopping!)!! — Unsigned comment by Vickstick (talk • contribs)

Lockpick Exploit
I do not know if any of you guys know of this but if u press Square and X at the exact same time you can auto attempt to pick a lock without breaking any lock picks (if timing is off just a little it will not work. So practice makes perfect). So far this is only confirmed on the Playstation 3® Version of the game. However since I do not have the Game of the Year Edition. I don't have the Computer or Xbox 360 versions either.
I will eventually confirm the Shivering Isles Expansion Pack. But in the meantime if one of u guys could confirm the GOTY Edition many thanks.

Gamebreaking Main Quest bug
I discovered this quite awhile ago when entering Cloud Ruler Temple before starting the main quest and killing one of the blades. When I brought Martin thither, in the middle of his speech the game froze.(reloading and clearing the cache yielded no beter results) This rendered the main quest uncompletable. Might be fixed by a patch, I had an unpatched version. --Morgoth
This happened to me once, at applewatch farm the lady would talk but her lips did not move. After in the middle of her speech the game froze and said the disk was dirty. I ignored Talking to her, but Black Void Holes came. I did the cache thing, but with no avail. So I got a new game.
- Your disk may be dirty, or your install somehow became corrupted, but it seems that you are on the 360 version, so it may be your disk. Take it out and gently wipe it with a lint free cloth or buy a disk doctor and it will clean it up shortly after you use the disk doctor. If that does not work then your disk might be damaged and you will have to buy a new copy of Oblivion. --Chibiace 03:57, 27 July 2008 (EDT)
Duplicating Stolen Goods
I've tried duplicating some equipment that I stole. I was not able to successfully do so. But, after I sold it to a fence and bought it back, I could successfully duplicate. I would like someone else to confirm this for me. I was going to add it to the Notes section but I felt as though someone else should have the problem before it would be an actual problem. --Ocylith 10:50, 17 April 2008 (EDT)
- I'm sure that that is because once you sell the stolen item to a fence, they take the "heat" off of it and it is now just another regular item. Then you can dupe it just like any other item. I've used this before to take advantage of items that I wanted at a low level.--Imperial Scum 16:36, 5 May 2008 (EDT)
This can also happen with some unstolen goods too, but it still works if you sell the item and buy it back
Graphical glitch: Robes in Rindir's
I've had this same problem on 3 charachters so far, with and without patches & plugins (SI, KotN, Frostcrag, Vile lair). Basically what happens, is that the aqua robes in Rindir's staffs are stretched accross the room from the counter to the cabinet they normally reside upon. It has no actual ramifications, with the exception that they are easier to steal due to the fact that there is more area that can be interacted with.
- I think that this is just a random glitch that happens in assorted areas. I've seen this happen in Divine Elegance and also in Toutius Sextius' house on the third floor on top of the chest at the foot of his bed. This happens on the patched version of the 360 too.--Imperial Scum 16:42, 5 May 2008 (EDT)

Level 160 on Xbox360...
So, i've heard around that it's possible to fairly quickly raise your level to 160 on the xbox 360 (So don't tell me that the console is used xP) anyway, i thought it'd be maybe the jail trick or something slow like that, but I witnessed one of the guys on my friends list level up from 50 to 160 in under two hours... yes, i sat there and watched... - My best guess would be that he used multiple drain skill spells to drain a major skill to 0 and then used a trainer to train it up, but what escapes me is that you can only train 5 times per level? The glitch must be with the trainer, since they are the fastest way to level up major skills. Maybe he used the armourer 'cheat' (enchanting a piece of armour with 'disintegrate armour' and constantly repairing it) in conjunction with the drain skill 'cheat'.
- Why don't you ask him? =] 86.169.195.111 23:14, 29 May 2008 (EDT)
- The most obvious method of doing this is to go to jail repeatedly. Just go steal or kill where you'll be caught and then serve your sentence; this will decrease some of your skills. Save and re-load as necessary to ensure that your Major skills are being drained. When they've drained enough, to do whatever's necessary to re-train them. Not entirely sure how you manage to gain over 100 levels with that method in 2 hours, but I suppose if you're an uber-fast gamer (and there are certainly enough of them out there), you could probably do it. --Robin Hood (Talk • E-mail • Contribs) 12:32, 4 June 2008 (EDT)
- I would guess that he had the levels pending, and was using the "Drain skill 100 points for 1 second on self" before talking to a trainer to train a major skill past 100 after each level up- I've done it before on a character where I've seen how high I could get. In other words, he already had so many level ups ready to go- he could have rested multiple times in a row to get them- and after each one went to train a major skill over 100 with a trainer to get more level ups. However, since you can only have so many levels in all your attributes before you can't level up any more, that does make this even more interesting, though 160 may be a reasonable level if you only use the lowest boni when leveling attributes. — Unsigned comment by 70.248.169.151 (talk)

Frostcrag Glitch Made Easier (360)
In the main article on the frostcrag test cell glitch player is instructed to delete the entire frostcrag download from the 360 hard drive to remove the tower. This is not necessary.
When loading Oblivion the extra content loads between the 'press start' screen and the main menu. In order to load the game without any of the plugins active simply load Oblivion with a gaming profile that does not have any of the plugins downloaded (they are active only for the profile which actually dowloaded them). If done correctly there will be no 'loading additional content' message and the game will go directly to the main menu. At this point, switch back to the main profile (which still will not have any plugins loaded), and load a save in the bedroom of the tower, same as the standard glitch.
There is one problem, because this removes all plugins and all progress on those quests and any items stored in the associated locations will be removed if a save is made in this state. This makes it so that it is fine for someone to just see what the test cell is like or explore a little, but for anyone who has made progress on the plugins (especially the shivering isles) and wants to save after to keep the stones or the mace of doom, the traditional method of removing only frostcrag is a better option. However, if for whatever reason someone does not want to remove the download (they no longer have acess to xbox live like me, for example), they could transfer every plugin other than the tower to an alternate profile in the Xbox memory and load the game with that profile, every plugin the have besides the tower will be loaded and preserved.
