Cirroc the Lofty was a Redguard Harbinger of the Companions in the First Era. He was among the notable Harbingers recorded by Swyk the Long-Sighted. His legacy of martial prowess and bladework are retained by the Companions of the modern day.[1][2]
History[edit]
Cirroc first came to Jorrvaskr as a servant, but when he was disrespected by an honorless warrior, he quickly proved his skill.[1] He saved the life of Harbinger Tulvar the Unmentioned, earning him the title of honorary Companion. With his speed and cunning, he grew to be one of the fiercest Shield-Brothers the Companions had to offer. Eventually, he became Harbinger himself, the first one in history to not be of Atmoran heritage.
Cirroc's rise expanded existing rifts within the faction over the purity of Atmoran blood and Ysgramor's legacy.[1][2] These rifts would finally fracture the guild when Henantier the Outsider, an elf would be made Harbinger, causing many Companions to lay down their weapons and leave.[1] Unsurprisingly,[2] Cirroc's reign was short, but his martial ability and swordsmanship were notable.[1][2]
Notes[edit]
- Cirroc the Lofty's name is an easter egg which alludes to Cirroc Lofton, the actor that played Jake Sisko in the television series Star Trek: Deep Space Nine.
- According to Fourth Era Harbinger Kodlak Whitemane, Cirroc, despite being a Redguard, ascended to Sovngarde.[3]
