Terminator: Future Shock

The Terminator: Future Shock is a 1995 first-person shooter game made by Bethesda Softworks based on The Terminator franchise. It had much of the same crew working on the early TES games, such as designers Ted Peterson and Todd Howard. In the game, one of the characters can be seen wearing a t-shirt with the Daggerfall logo underneath his jacket. This marks the first crossover the Elder Scrolls franchise had ever done with another property.

Team Fortress 2 is a 2007 team-based multiplayer first-person shooter developed by Valve Software. A cosmetic item called the Dragonborn Helmet was added to the game on August 3, 2011 and given to players who pre-ordered The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim on Steam before 10AM PDT on August 8, 2011. This hat, originally called the Tamrielic Relic, can be worn by the Heavy, one of the playable nine classes, and can still be obtained through crafting, random drops, direct purchase, trading, and unboxing crates. It is based off the iconic Iron Helmet worn by the Last Dragonborn in promotional material for Skyrim.

Portal 2

Portal 2 is a 2011 puzzle-platformer developed and published by Valve. On February 7, 2012, a free add-on created by Valve and Bethesda called Fall of the Space Core, Vol. 1 was released on the Steam Workshop for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. It centers around finding the Space Core, a mysterious robot that crash-lands in the central plains of Skyrim, based off the same character from Portal 2. It can be used to create the Dovahcore Helmet, a mix between the iconic Iron Helmet and the Space Core's shell.

DOOM

DOOM is an American media franchise of first-person shooter games developed by id Software. It is focused on the exploits of the Doom Slayer, who fights hordes of demons and the undead to save Earth from an apocalyptic invasion. ZeniMax Media has owned id Software since 2009, and as such they have done frequent cross-promotions with the franchise over the years. In DOOM (2016), there is a skeleton wearing the iconic Dragonborn iron helmet from Skyrim, with an arrow in its knee. In The Elder Scrolls Online, the Mudcrab of Eternal Doom was created as a promotion for the then-upcoming DOOM Eternal game.

Fallout is a media franchise of roleplaying video games created by Tim Cain and presently developed by Bethesda. It takes place in a post-apocalyptic version of 22nd and 23rd century Earth affected by nuclear fallout, and has an atompunk retrofuturistic setting.

The series' first title, Fallout, was developed by Black Isle Studios and released in 1997, though its forerunner, a 1988 game titled Wasteland, was developed by Interplay Productions. Interplay closed Black Isle Studios in 2004, and Bethesda Softworks acquired the rights to the Fallout intellectual property that same year, releasing Fallout 3 in 2008. The development teams for main installments of Fallout and the Elder Scrolls franchises are largely the same, having alternated production between games of the series. As a result, they use the same engine and have many recurring traits shared amongst each other including in-jokes, assets, and in recent years both make use of Creations.

Lore Implications and Explanations

Occasional explanations are provided for the immersion-breaking nature of crossovers. For Fortnite, it was said the Nord warrior would was brought to the eternal battleground of Asteria, much to the surprise of the loopers of Reality Zero. It is presumed that he arrived to the Fortnite world through a rift in his own reality, much like the other characters from crossovers. He battled over Brutal Bastion, fighting for the honor of the Ebonheart Pact and, indeed, all of Tamriel.[1]
