Hints
Do the Daggerfall Pages still need a tag for the contributor for each hint? This is from the old site, but I'm not sure if they should be deleted. --Werdnanoslen 08:07, 10 September 2006 (EDT)
- My understanding is that all the old attributions should be deleted, see UESPWiki:Style_Guide#Attribution and Dates. --Nephele 12:08, 10 September 2006 (EDT)
What do we do with Daggerfall
This thought has been triggered by Somercy trying to clear up with witch coven page and my initial thoughts on it. I think its worth noting that the Daggerfall pages are organised in a completely different format to the pages for Oblivion/Morrowind/Shadowkey. What's more, trying to hammer Daggerfall to fit that format would be a truly herculean task, I don't know how many locations there are in Daggerfall, but its a lot! This does not mean I don't think the Daggerfall section needs working on, I'm just somewhat at a loss of how we are to make it fit in stylistically with the rest of the site. - The biggest problem is that there's only a few editors on this site who know enough about Daggerfall to be able to contribute much - and I'm not one of them. All of the Daggerfall information that exists on this site predates its conversion to a wiki, so it is of course formatted differently. (The same was true of the Morrowind information until recently, but that game was recent and popular enough that there's plenty of knowledgeable contributors to help bring it up to standard.) Also, as far as I know, there was no Construction Set for Daggerfall, so hard data is a little bit harder to extract. Daggerfall (along with Arena, Battlespire, and Redguard) is definitely not up to the same standards as the more recent games, so any help from people who know the game is appreciated. If you need any help just organizing data, let me know. I'm good at that. But since I know next to nothing about the game, I can't help out much more than that. --TheRealLurlock Talk 13:46, 28 February 2007 (EST)
- I agree with Lurlock's assessment here: doing much with Daggerfall is going to be tough. If anyone's interested in trying to do cleanup, that would be great, and if anyone is interested in trying to organize a coordinated project, along the lines of the Morrowind Redesign Project, that would be great, too. Perhaps to set out what the desired format is, keep track of what's been done, what's a high priority to be done, etc. I can't say I've poked around through the Daggerfall pages too much, but I am aware that they contain alot of non-wiki stuff.
- You may want to check out UESPWiki:Task List#Older Games and UESPWiki:Converting Old Pages for some info, including what editors were trying to do when they moved some of these pages. Another todo (I'm great at coming up with work for others to do!) would be to double check that everything on the old site really has been moved over. I'm not aware of anyone making a systematic check that everything has been wikified, and we're slowly removing links to the old site on the assumption that it's mostly obsolete.
- One area I'd recommend being cautious about doing more than strictly formatting changes is on the old FAQs. Some of those pages represent the founding of UESP (see UESPWiki:History) and therefore have some amount of historical and probably sentimental value. Hmmm... actually checking the links listed at Daggerfall:Old_Unofficial_FAQ, it looks like alot of the main Daggerfall pages really are just the FAQ pages. I'm thinking it might be best to take some of those pages, such as Daggerfall:Features, and put a copy of it (with the minimum of format cleanup) at somewhere like Daggerfall:Old_Unofficial_Faq/Features for a purely historical copy, that isn't supposed to be changed substantially. The Daggerfall:Features page is then made into a standard wiki page that can be freely updated and modified.
- Given some of the complexities I've just come across, perhaps creating a formal project page would be a good idea, where some general decisions about how and what can be made... any one interested in taking the initiative on that? --Nephele 14:21, 28 February 2007 (EST)
- I can devote a majority of my time to Daggerfall pages, cleaning them as much as I can, if I can get someone to help with formatting, tags, stuff like that. I would love to make a project, but don't have the skills (and maybe not the authority) to do that...but I'd propose calling it the "Daggerfallen Project", if'n it'd be agreeable. So, um, there. Somercy 11:00, 1 March 2007 (EST)
- No authority needed. Just take a look at UESPWiki:Morrowind Redesign Project for an example. If you created a new page at UESPWiki:Daggerfall Redesign Project and just put your basic plans on it, that would be a start. --TheRealLurlock Talk 11:33, 1 March 2007 (EST)
- I'll volunteer for project leader, then...if no one else wants it. But I'm not gonna do this alone! Somercy 11:39, 1 March 2007 (EST)

Daggerfall Prices
I saw Daggerfall for $70 the other day, and i was stunned. Is this game really worth $70?!--Willyhead 16:55, 17 June 2007 (EDT)
- Well ofcourse it would be expensive, it's so rare that it's no longer even made anymore! 58.174.98.29 18:36, 14 January 2008 (EST)

Video Walkthrough
Why no video walkthrough of this like there is for the Redguard game?! - Some Random Person Obsessed with Oblivion
- I know that a walk-through video of the opening dungeon. Getting permission from it's creator to use it here should be little problem. It is now hosted on youtube, can we link to it from here? I will contact the creator (who is familiar with me), but where should we put it? In a footnote on the walk-through section?
Excuse me, I didn't realize there was already a video link on the front page.
Vandalism
Reccomend that this page be protected to prevent repeat occurences of what I just removed. Can someone please contact an admin? Darth Cronus 11:23, 14 November 2007 (EST)
- Nephele's just blocked him again. From the comment, it looks like it was somebody well known to the admins. As for protecting this page, I think the 'root' pages for Morrowind and Oblivion are semi-protected, so I don't see why this one shouldn't have the same. --Gaebrial 11:47, 14 November 2007 (EST)
- I've gone ahead and semi-protected it, although it is a somewhat borderline case: the page history shows that it's not really a frequent vandalism target. In the entire lifetime of the page there have only been a half-dozen incidents of vandalism. But given that it is the main page of the namespace and linked from the sidebar, I figured I'd go ahead and do it. Also, Darth Cronus, Help:Editing#Reverting_Edits provides information on how to revert a page to an earlier version, for example to clean up vandalism. --NepheleTalk 12:10, 14 November 2007 (EST)

How do you attack?
I downloaded the free demo on the internet and for some reason i cannot attack. I hold the right mouse button and swing but it still wont attack. Is this a bug or am I not doing it right? P.S I looked on the controls menu and it says thats how you attack.
- I think its the left mouse. Might want to try that. You might want to unsheath your weapon too.
- You need to do two things in order to attack: 1. Change your mouse settings to increase sensitivity 2. While holding down the mouse 2 button and you weapon is out, move it across the screen, in circles or up and down to attack differently.
- I had the same problem, and resolved it by changing the Mouse option to "View" instead of "Cursor". There are some instances where I had to use "Cursor" to pick up a letter wedged under a crate, but otherwise, it is my preferred setting. (Rinimand 11:59, 30 August 2009 (UTC))
- The manual is quite clear on this. Hold the secondary (default is "left") button and drag the mouse over the screen to deliver a specific type of attack (swipe, thrust, etc.). This function works on all models of computers (even the infamous Cyrix), of all speeds, regardless of operating system (DOS, 9x, NT with or w/o DOSBOx/VDMSound). How is this possibly a problem for anyone? --Uniblab 22:53, 31 August 2009 (UTC)
- I had the same problem for a while. Turns out I just wasn't moving the mouse fast enough. In Arena I could move the mouse at any speed in order to attack, so it took me a while to figure out
Doesn't work for me. All is says is that I see a rat. I tried EVERYTHING you guys said, made the sensitivity max, tried different attack styles but it still doesn't work. I am using DOSbox btw... -DiemCarpe
A New Start
I have already done some work here, and will be doing more. I have also contacted some DF-knowledgeable people about contributing some of their attention here. I am at a disadvantage in that I don't know how to do many wiki-oriented operations, and will have to learn by doing. James Wildspell 03:34, 29 January 2008 (EST)
Wordy Prose? Or Maybe It's Just Me...
Okay, in the opening paragraphs of the Daggerfall main page, I found this gem "the story unfolds to something far greater than avenging..." Well, gee, that sounds wordy and icky to me. I'd want to fix it, or maybe just purge the word unfolds, but I dunno if anyone else feels that way. Opinions?
I think that may be a holdover from some sort of promo material. But I see nothing wrong with "unfolds." James Wildspell 04:00, 5 March 2008 (EST)
Hey, I downloaded the DaggerFall MIDI.rar and I was wondering what the shopkeepers song was? I can't really remember it's been a while since I played elder scrolls, is it MIDI file 8? I loved that song and I want to cover it in my band. Thanks!
Shadowkey
There's a TES Shadowkey version?!--Ahnaz31 15:03, 17 April 2008 (EDT)
- Yes, it's a mobile phone game. If you want to know more, have a look at Shadowkey:Shadowkey the article. - Game LordTalk|Contribs 15:06, 17 April 2008 (EDT)
